Apple's iPhone Sales See Worst Quarter in China Since 2020

- Sales of Apple's iPhone in China fell 19% during the quarter ending in March, an independent research firm reported. The US company fell to third in the nation's hotly-contested smartphone market, behind Vivo and Honor, according to Counterpoint Research estimates. Bloomberg's Edwin Chan reports.

all of US brands will be kicked out of China, not only Apple and Tesla, all US brands. Because Chinese consumers are tired of US politicians. American out, this is voice of Chinese people.
I welcome the American products as well as Chinese products. But Apple and Tesla products really aren't cost-effective in the Chinese market. And, their politicians are indeed quite non-sense.

@@jaynycha1705 I'm still using a 5-year old phone. There have been literally no significant innovation in the newer models, and a few downgrades.
In the first 6 weeks in 2024, Apple sales in China dropped by 24%, while Huawei sales since the launch of the Mate 60 series has increased by 64%. China market accounts for 20% of Apple sales. Apple has dropped to 4th position while Huawei has jumped to the 2nd position in the China market.
With the launch of the Pura 70 and an expected sales of 10 -12 million, Huawei will top the China market again. Apple sales is expected to drop further.
Its not politics, today with 200dol you can buy an 120hz android phone with an oled screen thats as fast as you ever need for most of the common use , why would you spend more than 1000 dol in any phone , wether its apple or not.
No reason to upgrade. Camera good enough. Make the software and the battery better. Mature market.
Why I should spend 1k USD on a apple phone if a 250 USD one is just fine? Apple will learn by the hard way like these companies always do, I will give them one thing, 7 years of security updates, but that no longer justify 750 USD difference.

Apple doesn't innovate much anymore. To them, it's a cash cow business. For $1500 or more for the flagship, people are expecting more. Unless you're already in Apple "ecosystem", it makes zero sense to buy Iphone

on the ground fact: my iphone14 max has WORSE signal performance than my iphone 10max, and much worse than my Huawei phone. iphone14 randomly drops 5g signal, drops phone call, unable to pick up call where my iphone10 had no problem. it is objectively to me a worse phone than iphone10 for business use. i definitely will not upgrade to iphone15 or whatever.

Well, there are a lot more US companies that make huge amount of money in China than the Chinese companies do in the US, even though China exports more goods to the US. The Bloomberg should do a program about it.

Edwin Chan said it best, the main reason it’s not doing well is due to government involvement. They are forcing their members to use other phones. Mainly Chinese made, same thing like here in the US.

i have been a apple user for more than 12 years,also i live in china. if you compare the new iphone and new huawei phone,you will ask yourself which one got banned from the "free mkt". apple keep giving people the samething for years. the only reason i still use iphone because the icloud i bought. my next phone will be a huawei phone and a new huawei watch as well. also huawei makes good watchs.
When Huawei's Mate 70 coming out late this year, Apple will be hit even harder because Mate 70 should have Huawei's pure Harmony OS (i.e., Harmony OS Next)
Vivo X100 and Honor Magic 6Pro is great devices, not mentioning their foldable lineup. Of course Huawei has amazing cameras

haha, the fake news anchors were trying to coach him to say the decline of iphone is due to politics but the reporter just says it honestly to them that iphone is plain sucks that less and less people are buying them.
Within the FMCG, if you don’t evolve you lose. Apple 12, 13, 14, 15…….. what are the real tangible proposition for the end user that justify its ever increasing product pricing. I don’t think the Chinese Consumer especially the younger segments cares two hoots about geopolitics since foreign social and main stream media are inaccessible there. Once you lose market share in Asia, don’t think you will regain it back unless something change drastically and quickly.

Tim Cook sold off a lot of his Apple shares so even he is trying to get out of the sinking ship.
But China has not banned Apple!
Apple has been relabelimg the iphone 13 for 3 years now. This is not a case of chinese phone catching up so much as Apple got greedy. Just look at how Samsung keep innovating and is clearly superior to chinese phones.
I don't care about the signal and camera, but is there any technical difficulty in having a large-capacity battery and a 100w charger? Why doesn't Apple provide them to consumers now?
Esp the camera since Chinese r social media intensive , many Chinese phones have better cameras at lower prices. Also the status of owning an IPhone is not like before , most ppl don’t care now. It’s not a must have item to be cool or to be in. Also there is really no huge breakthrough or new innovation with the new models. And 2nd hand IPhones are very cheap so it’s not retaining value like before.
I am using macbook, but for the phone, I 1300 euro iphone does not do any better than i a 300 euro honor or huawei. so that is no to iphone

@@chestnutridge4187 per person it’s quite small, when you are talking about a wealthy China it’s just a few areas of a few coastal cities. Most people still only make around three USD per day and that’s dropping
