    never mind previous question. After asking. I did a quick Google search and found that wiring diagrams could be had at port lines. This fact alone will save much time while attempting to determine issues. I again commend your videos. Your eduction monologue pacing is terrific Thank you sincerely. John

      Thanks for watching and your comment. I too still possess the 303 from the 50's that was my first AF engine. I also just repaired one for a customer. Yes, that's correct. I re-opened Precision Flyer Repairs a few weeks ago. I need to post a video about that, but have been busy already with customers from NY, PA, VA, TX, and WA. www.precisionflyerrepairs.com

    I love your video, but I wish you would have explained what quartering actually accomplishes.

      Thanks for watching. The quartering of drive wheels on a steam engine (1:1 or model/toy) keeps the wheels in synch with each other. If not quartered properly left to right the drivers will jam up on each other. Very important in real life railroading and make believe as well.

    Great video again. A basic question. Where does one obtain a wiring diagram for American flyer? I have the k line reproduction of the AF repair manual and barker AF repair and operation guides second and third additions. Thank. You John

    Would you happen to have a video on how to solder new fingers to the wires the thank you

    • @PFR1
      @PFR1  6 місяців тому

      Thanks for watching. I don’t have a video on the technique or method to use when soldering wires to reverse unit fingers, but one rule of thumb is do not allow the fingers to be in contact with the drum or the heat will damage the drum. If it’s a wiring diagram you need then try portlines.com Clinic #10 or Google “American Flyer steam engine wiring diagrams”.

      @@PFR1 I believe they installed their HO smoke unit and might have developed a new frame as well.
