It helps to take a pointed object and tap it in random spots while wet and it creates break points for the crystals to grow from and they splinter out from each spot

That Crystal Effect would work well creating a Camo paint job on a 4wheel drive.

    Gratts to 60000 subscribers!
Really cool effect with the crystal and really nice with the pigments... Will be fun to see maybe light grey background and crystal effects with black on top and the test pigment "ghost red to black"......
    Good job!

I think with that sand base, I like the green on the left better. Thanks again Bro.

Yes sir, I agree. The outside edges of the panel came out very cool. Almost a camouflage affect. This would look awesome on my JD Gator! Hmmm🤔

Fully painted it puts me in the mindset of forged carbon, which is awesome!!
Sanded though, it gives off plywood vibes, which can still be pretty cool for a custom look!!! Pretty cool!!

Love the content, brother. This. Crystal effect would look super cool if you laid the color interference over it, or even glow in the dark might look tight.
I don't see any in eye candy's catalog, but you ever mess with thermochromatic pigment? I got a few grams for epoxy projects like a decade ago that turns from pink to crimson at 90F. I always thought it'd be sick to paint a car with it and park it in the shade or behind some lattice to get temp patterns from temperature difference.

It helps if you use Scotch-Brite pads instead of sandpaper when you are gently scuffing the paint.

I appreciate all the work and effort you put in the videos for us. I've done some nice paint jobs but only on motorcycles and the hardest I have done is candy apple red. I would have liked to try this with it.

Thanks, brother! I'm currently working on my car, getting it ready for its 7th paintjob.. and I'll be doing this effect on it with some colorshift as well.
I haven't tried the color combo on a test fender to see what it'll look like, so the reaults will be a surprise to us all 😅

I wonder about maybe using this to make a camouflage effect. You know maybe like using green instead of black.
Also, what happens if after the black you apply clear coat, then use the urea again, lightly sand it, and a different color? Just curious.

Interesting concept. Seen Triggerman do some demo's. Thinking would look cool with base with some of the blue pigment, crystal, black over then sand, clear. So many possibilities. Take a special vehicle to rock the look though.

Normally I'm not a fan of green, but the green looks fantastic.
Your idea to apply a candy color sounds like a winner.
As for laying down flake would it be better to spray it before the crystal effect?

    • @GTsPerformance
      @GTsPerformance  4 місяці тому +1

I would probably spray a silver base, then silver flake, then clearcoat, and let that dry.
After the clearcoat has dried, sand it, do the crystal effect, spray the black base, sand that, then spray the candy and finish off with another coat of clear.

GT Have you ever checked into hydro dipping ? I been toying with the idea of doing it on a metal dash in my 56 Chevy , currently see it done on guns but it should work on any metal ?
Also thought about wrapping it in carbon fiber ? What do you think ?
