As a VT fan, I never thought poorly of Fuente, just that he wasn't a good fit for Virginia Tech. He felt like a bigger city guy, not a smaller tightly knit community guy
You are not going to be a successful head coach anywhere in college while acting stand-offish and too good for your players. No players have anything positive to say about the guy’s personality. It’s more than just a poor fit.
He didn't have the resources or personality to succeed at VT. I'm glad he's gone, but don't wish him any ill will. He wasn't the right guy in a nearly impossible situation at VT post-Beamer. That being said, through 2.5 years of Pry, he is that guy.
Oh, it flies. 14 years since I crossed the stage at Clemson's graduation ceremony. One thing all that time has allowed me to do is attend some great football games, and I'll be in Blacksburg Nov. 9th. Can't wait to finally go.
A. Great video couldn’t be more excited for this season. B. Hearing everything that went on during the Fuente era though I’ve heard it before pissed me off all over again. 😂😂
Va techs decline as a whole as a football program coincides directly with the decline of their special teams unit specifically.va tech used to have many fg/XP/punt blocks and adjust great plays on special teams throughout each season. And once the blocks started to slow down the program was slowing down as well
I think its more that teams started adapting to how Tech played special teams so it wasn't as easy for them to get the blocks and kick returns as they once did, not to mention Beamer was an insanely conservative coach on offence. The Hokies' decline also coincided with a considerable downturn in Tech's recruiting as well. The list of big time misses on recruits who would go on to be national stars and even high level NFL players during the twilight years of the Beamer era is...absolutely staggering. The ones I remember the most were Derrick Nnandi (who was a signing day flip to FSU after spending most of the year committed to Tech) and Josh Sweat but we were apparently heavily favored for a bunch of other guys too.
Virginia Tech definitely took some hits on their reputation from two losses in particular, the first one being against James Madison (back then an FCS team) in 2010 when they were ranked #13 and then 2018 ranked the same when they lost to Old Dominion, those losses really killed both of those seasons respectively especially the James Madison loss.
@@mrrashi5925 Okay but that was still a year that they had championship expectations. Maybe their reputation wasn’t completely killed but it still hurt it regardless.
any thoughts on the birth, mediocrity, and now hope of Charlotte Football under Biff?? i was part of the very first team and always wondered how our fledgling and meddling program looked from an outsiders’s POV! ⛏️
.....and if you think I'm wrong, remember this.....there hasn't been a NEW national champion in college football since Florida in 1996. This is a fraternity that is low in number and you ain't invited. Hell, outside of a handful of SEC and B1G teams, no one else will be invited ever again from the looks of things. Sorry to be the bearer of bad news.
So funny VT fans mad at Shane Beamer for using Beamer Ball…SIDENOTE: Why do you content makers make your voice sound like that. Just talk regular. Can’t even play more than 2 min of the video. Your voice is mad annoying. Fix your voice, your subscribes will go up. Trust me.

This aged well
Vandy has entered the chat
I wouldn’t say they’ve been revived yet. Let’s not get ahead of ourselves, they only went 7-6 and are all hype right now.
Yesterday's loss to Vanderbilt won't help that revival lol
Enter Sandman
Hell yeah
Goated entrance
Graduated from Tech on May 13, 2022. It is absolutely unreal how fast time flies. It's going to be a great season! 7-8 Wins & a Bowl Win incoming...

Hope Brent Pry bring VT back it's better when Blackburn is apart of the CFB scene

Bro they won the acc chip the year they lost to jmu😹
JMU loss did not kill their rep. It might have fucked them out of a national championship appearance but they didn’t lose rep till 2014
