Best movie I've watched for a long time. Easily and quickly reminded me of how lucky the modern society is because of the heroes of the past.
Couldn't say any better.
wow WWII we have no idea the bravery and sacrifice
Same here, I watched the movie yesterday i honor them so much
ya!
It's precisely because of the huge sacrifices those guys and gals made, that the World had become as soft as it now is, where you dare not criticise anyone coz they'll take you to Court over some hurt feelings, rather than engage in some self reflection and ponder if the guy/gal calling them out, didn't actually have a point. To give but one example.
Doss is in heaven getting rewarded. What an outstanding movie. I cry every single time
Boys. Im dead serious, this movie is fucking amazing.
I watched it yesterday... cried the whole movie, beautiful. Great job, Mel
I can watch the movie 20 times and it still doesn't get old.
yup same here bro. A masterpiece man
Iron Throne yes it truly is an amazing movie, I absolutely loved it
I just watched it today; GREAT movie; Gibson makes such great movies!!!
Watching this movie made me think of all the veterans.😢
Edwart johnson dude stop with all the spamming. No one cares about your bootleg crap
Harambe same
shasa jorney Fuck off
Harambe ' you should be thinking about them all the time!!!!

Mel Gibson mentioned that the part about faith was essential to this movie, because "in war, soldiers relied on something that was greater than themselves" to move onward. I don't know how to react when I see the comments fighting about whether God was in this or not, or whether this was an effort solely done by Desmond. When I read about how this was an extraordinary feat, I know it was, I also know it wasn't by Desmond's effort alone. He never wanted the credit, but always said it was God's. To me, it was both his effort and God's blessings. Hand in hand. No coward would've been able to do this, but no man could've done it on his own strength.
A Japanese solider recounted of how whenever he pointed his gun at Desmond, the gun would jam. He could never shoot him.
Desmond recounted of how he learned the special knot that would help him lower down the injured soldiers- but he only remembered it and God showed him how. He didn't learn it in training camp, but somewhere else where he lived (I can't remember the details for the life of me).
Was Desmond still a man who had values to uphold? Yes. He had temptations, he surely did. There was once where he was extremely tempted to throw a grenade into the cave where he heard Japanese soldier voices coming from there- just to protect his soldier mates. Did he do it? No, he knew if he compromised, he would be in great trouble. All of these things I'm writing are not on my imagination. I've taken these from the hacksaw ridge documentary where he was interviewed in 2003.
If you think that Desmond did it alone, I have to put it to you that you're wrong. He wanted to save people, I would never doubt that. In fact I admire that. Take note tho, he even said, when he lost his Bible, he was so lost, so so lost. He felt so lost, and that's why there were soldiers determined to get back the Bible for him. There's significance in this, and it's not just some kind of book of history or "fairy tales". If you've never really genuinely read the book, how can you even reject it? Desmond prayed and read this book every day. Just as war was real for Desmond, so was his trust in God. At least respect that, and put down your own personal grievances against religion for once. This was a personal, true encounter with God for Desmond, and I think nothing you say can ever change that or take that away. His testimony stands. :-)
Carissa Tan bBeautiful, thankyou!
Carissa Tan amazing comment!
This is so pure 💗
👍👍👍
having faith in God does not mean having faith in a religion which was created by man as a vehicle to worship. There are plenty of people who are believers and followers of God who need no such man made assistance.
This movie is amazing. The fact that it is a true story just makes it the more powerful.
Fyi most war flix are based on real life events
This is literally the best movie ever ! Andrew is such an a amazing and talented actor!
awesome, best movie of the year!..
much respect to the WW2 vets and wariors!

Honestly, I thought I wasn't into war movies but apparently I am cause what a fucking incredible movie. Hands up one of the bests I've ever seen.
I didn't like any movie about war but this one is that great, amazing, inspiring that I watched it million times and now I'm reading a book about Desmond Doss
Mr. Gibson sure knows how to direct a movie! Fantastic acting and great cinematography.
How in the world did this movie not win best picture??
I think this movie top 3 of all time.
Bud Binner top 10
Same it’s my fave movie ever
No not a chance

probably because of politics. Mel might not be the most endeared nominee. He was nominated for Best Director but didn't win. It won a couple Oscars however
I just urge everyone to see this, never experienced a feeling quite like this in the cinema. It's just incredible. From the story to the cast to the VISUALS 10/10
A Seventh Day Adventist, a Christian who trully followed Christ in putting others before him. And God protected him all that time, what a miracle!
JJ SS what about those other people who died and believed in god?
I lived on Philippines
And I'm grade 5
My other classmates
Are seventh day Adventist they don't eat fish and some beans and chips
The movie show the solder broke one Sabbath, in the real life he didn't
XxGalaxygamingboyX x
Most seventh-day Adventist’s are vegetarian
@@bowlcut3541 because the other ones faith wasnt strong enough and its like the captain said "when you have a gun youre not going to give thanks to god"
This is the best war movie I have ever seen, better than saving private ryan etc. And Mel Gibson has done it again. Apocalypto was also a masterpiece.
Just an update on my comment. For those of you who prefer Saving Private Ryan, Private Ryan was magnificent for its time, but I didn't engage and get emotional with the characters. I didn't give a damn about private Ryan or any of the other characters. Perhaps due to the fact that it was loosely based on a true story. Hacksaw Ridge embodied far more accurate events, therefore making it more captivating and endearing for me.
falconeranatolia heck yea..the guy is an amazing producer
Mel is the best!!!❤️❤️❤️
falconeranatolia woooahh slow down buddy. No ww2 movie will come close to saving private Ryan.
Slow slow slow down, your passing the speed limit here. You can’t top Saving Private Ryan, you just can’t.
falconeranatolia only thing that comes close isn’t even a movie. The mini series band of brothers and even then, it’s barely up there with SPR
I cried watching this movie. I never thought of wanting to serve in the military after watching this movie. It's so inspiring knowing that he is a real person.
Saw it today
Shocking and truly amazing
It's as if a good, absent friend showed up at your door after some 10 years. Welcome back Mel.
after ten years and some struggles he shows up without having lost his touch or talent one bit. this is one of best war films ever made.
JaqueMate it's my favorite.
Gibson is such a consummate director you see taking the time to get the spirit of the scene across to the actors on a eye-to-eye basis. Everyone did so well on that movie, the crew, the actors, the extras. It's all so convincing and authentic in look and behaviour so that it takes you right there.
absolutely amazing movie. I'm so happy films of this caliber are still coming out
When I saw this I teared up as soon as the fighting started, it made me think that this actually happened to real people
It did !!!!
best movie ever
Mel is an amzing director !He try hard to communicate with actors to get the best mood and shot!
Leung Clara do you myb have link for movie ,without need to sign up on some account..thanks
lady iglesias go to afdah.tv
One of the best movies I've ever seen. Truly amazing
Love this movie! So realistic and shows you what war is really like.
Its not a bad film, combat wise is not very accurate
Best War Movies:
1.) Hacksaw Ridge
2.) Saving Private Ryan
3.) Forrest Gump
Ilisha Sakes You consider Forrest Gump a war movie?
fury
Ilisha Sakes you should add band of brothers to that list, I do admit that it's not really a movie but a mini series but still.
platoon is up there as well
1 definitely
This is my new favorite movie ever
this is hands down the best war movie i have ever seen
This is one of the most best movies I have ever seen...
'Lord help me get one more'
This comment fucked my brain
Another great movie I saw is 1917 they made the movie look like only two scenes
Best movie I've seen this year and probably in a few years. It was INCREDIBLE. My mom even liked it, and she doesn't like war movies.
R.I.P Desmond Doss May God have Mercy on your soul. Thank you and God bless
Ever since I saw this movie It will always be close to my heart and also knowing a family member went through this I deeply respect the military and one of Americas greatest hero's Pvt. Doss they will always be remembered
Watched this movie last night for the 1st time. Outstanding!
My paternal grandfather was born in 1894. He fought in WWI, not the second world war. He was in France during the war. He fought in the trenches and got a foot condition called trench foot from standing in dirty water. He didn't talk much about the war, but the last time I saw him he told me about walking past trenches with full of dead soldiers. He died in 1986 but I will be thinking of him this Memorial Day. God bless our veterans.
Fave movie of mine and my dad. We can watch this movie all day, without getting bored. Salute to these brave men!
Saw this on Thursday. Best movie I've ever seen!! Mel is a genius, and Doss is my hero! Luke Bracey is gorgeous too!! Lol
wow such a fantastic movie with a strong message ,for me its a movie of the decade seriously the plot is just smooth and gradually building . it got me in tears seriously
Damn it's so amazing what color grading/post production could do. The movie looks so beautifully shot in the perfect lighting when really they're just outside in the sun where they can't really control the weather.
Been watching it for almost 10 times since 2018.
Always loved Mel. Best actor, director and all round human being. So he made a mistake, who hasn't. If you haven't you're lying.❤️💯
andrew is so so good in this role. this movie has stuck w me for a while
Such a powerful movie, one of my favourites!
Very good movie...no words for this... Its just amazing
I would rather listen to what actually Mel speaks to the cast than this sugarflavor music
It's B-Roll footage, meaning there is no audio
Omg yesss! I was so annoyed
Finta Simon me to
In full agreement
Finta S
Seriously after watching this movie this is my favorite movie of all time.
my dad was in the Corps and years later when this movie came out he wrote to Desmond who actually ended up writing back and even sent my dad a birthday card one year.
This is my favorite movie of all time
It was worth waiting 10 long years. What a come-back for Mel!
Such a great Movie. Amazing acting and a great production & it's a true story
Mel's back he was burnt out. This happens to everyone who puts 150 % of himself into his craft. That is what Mel Gibson does. He sees something that lay people can't see. That's why he is the greatest actor, producer, Director of our time. I never doubted it for one minute. That Mel Gibson would be back better than before. Merry Christmas Mel Gibson and family. Pat
this movie is greatfull.well done mel gibson!
Personally, I've never seen a war movie this good since Saving Private Ryan. Black Hawk Down was.... yeahhh not bad.
This is better than Private Ryan! PR was great but this is even greater!
I think Fury with Brad Pitt was good enough, especially the first half of the film. Not as good as these two you mentioned, but it is good.
I actually that one was pretty bad. The first half was alright, but the ending just completely ruined it for me.
Have you watched some of the HBO mini-series? Generation Kill, Band of Brothers, and The Pacific?
Caleb Carcagno as much as I love them all, they are TV series, my friend, while I was talking about big-screen movies.
One of the best movie that made me cry😥😥😥
The best film i have ever watched, it was amazing. I can't find my words to describe it! Definetly a must watch!
One of my favorite movies of all time!
Tremendous movie!
excellent movie made me cry because I admire this man the truth is a very good story
1 of the best movies Ive seen in my life
hacksaw ridge is one the the best movies I've ever seen
Mel is the man! One of the few master film makers of our time. Soderbergh, Stone, Howard, Fuqua and the late Stanley Kubrik are others.. but Mel remains my favorite (Di Palma / Scorcese too)
I'm sorry...Mel Gibson is not a great director....he's a GENIUS. (who said go the hell i'm crazy?),no no no,I'M NOT CRAZY AT ALL,if you look from Braveheart,The Passion Of The Christ,Apocalypto...and this MASTER PIECE (they say this maybe his best movie ever by the way),so...we're talking about not just A GREAT DIRECTOR,NO SIR...we're talking about A GENIUS DIRECTOR...he knows how to reach the bottom of our bones with a movie...and this such a master piece says exactly that. And...on the other hand...why not???...why not call mel Gibson a GENIUS DIRECTOR?,he knows exactly how to make us cry or reach our spirit with one scene...and aloooong etcetera.
Don't look much any further....MEL GIBSON IS A GENIUS DIRECTOR and with several GREAT ACTORS AND ACTRESSES has made SUCH MASTER PIECE that deserves much more than one golden boy next 2017 Oscars season.
Christian Aldunate Hernández true that
@@christianaldunatehernandez4551 this movie was filmed in Australia! Most off the actors were Australian! Directed by fellow Aussie Mel Gibson! Brilliant movie!
Best movie ever , this one and saving private Ryan make me sob every time I watch them.
I think it’s quite amazing how they were able to pull off such battle scenes using minimal special effects.
This is and will always be the best movie on earth

The battle scenes in this movie we're PHENOMENAL. I think Saving Private Ryan has finally "met it's match".
Just finished it. I had goosebump all over.
Goddamn this movie made me cry like a bitch especially at the end when it showed the real guy and the men he saved

This was an incredible movie. Never had heard of it, just watched it, the most inspiring and memorable war film I think I've seen. It really hit me deep. Hats off to our armed forces for their service and sacrifices, that I could never possibly be able to repay enough. And of course Mel for making this masterful film.
Best war movie ever
Was in two minds about whether or not to see this movie. Glad I saw it.
Mel Gibson's back and this directorial effort is one of this best.
Such an amazing story. I will always be grateful for the men and women who gave everything for me and my family to live in the freedom that most simply take for granted...
