  • Mohr-Coulomb failure criterion is one of the most used in soil mechanics and geotechnical engineering. It can also be applied to estimate the strength characteristics of rock samples. Although it is not as commonly used as the Hoek-Brown failure criteria it still provides reasonable estimates of rock cohesion and friction angle based on experimental data from triaxial tests. This video shows how to analyse such data using a relatively simple and straightforward approach.

Is it possible to find out cohesion value of rock using Triaxial Test

If there are enough triaxial tests, then yes, it is possible. This video shows how to obtain the friction and cohesion using Mohr-Coulomb failure criterion.
