The ribbon in question was on the T Con board which is located at the bottom middle of the unit when you get the back off. Same idea, count in from the left on the cable until you hit 12/13 and lay down the tape. Took a few tries to get the position right, but it works!

Wow, thank you so much. Quite possibly the best 4 minute video on YT I have ever seen. I was prepared to purchase a new TV, chalking it up to burn-in or just a cheap TV. A tip for when I was straining my eyes looking for the 12 & 13th pin - I took a 2x picture on my Iphone and then zoomed in when viewing the picture to blow it up, luckily my cable had blue markings every 5-6 pins that i could use as reference and the 12th pin happen to sit right below one of the blue dots. I used standard scotch tape and cut it with sharp kitchen shears. Thank you!
Thank you so much for the amazing feedback! Appreciate you sharing your experience. Glad you could save your TV. Do leave a like on the video and do subscribe to the channel.
Oh man! You're an absolute legend! Covering pins 67+68 worked on my Mi TV 4X (55). I think it might be pins 12+13 if it's a problem on the right side of the panel and 67+68 if it's the left side. Not sure though, but mine was blinking on the left side. Thank you so very much. You really saved me and all these people a packet of money! God bless you! Keep up the good work.
@@antondavid962 This kind of problem I think is usually associated with these two pins. Pins 12 + 13 from the outside-in on whichever ribbon cable corresponds to the side of the screen that is blinking. Pin 67 + 68 could actually be counted as 12 + 13 from the outside in on the right hand side ribbon cable corresponding to the left side of the screen.
Brother this fixed my flickering distorted purple image I taped a few pins clamped the one ribbon and it’s gone holy shit I can’t believe it god bless you thank you for this video you’re a life saver brother much love!!
Alright I managed to fix it for those TVs with only 1 ribbon cable when opening the main plastic compartment. You HAVE to open the bottom plastic cover to be able to see those 2 ribbon cables because the main plastic cover doesn't show the 2 cables, only one! Managed to fix it first try using the video shown here. Same method, you have to put tape on Pin 12 and 13 with the black isolation tape that came all over the TV. I have a Xiaomi Mi Tv 55' 4s Edit: thanks to the uploader for the tip and actually share it with everyone for free! Without this, people would have bought a new TV. Who says hero's wear capes!! A big thanks to you kind sir

@@deantang1267 doesn't matter, just tape pin 12 and 13. Trial and error, took me like a full hour to figure it out and it has been working flawlessly ever since. Still amazed how the tape is still holding up
Huge thank you to this UA-camr!!! Saved me a TV purchase! This worked on my TCL 6 Series R613/R617. Seriously, I tried everything else I could find and this was the only thing that finally fixed it. THANK YOU!!
Does your tv have the single ribbon cable and then the short cable that "bridges" between the two sides? If so, where did you tape cable? I've discovered that the R613/R615/R617 have at least two different internal setups despite being identical otherwise.
This fix worked like a charm for my TCL 55S405. The wiring is a little different on my model, but the idea is the same. Not sure how you figured this out, but I’m glad you did. Thanks!

Big ups my guy! My TV setup was similar to other users with one main picture ribbon that then went to 2 ribbons. The left side was my issue so I followed directions from other commentors. Definitely a precision job but all I can say for others is don't give up! Took several tries but the issue is gone! Thanks again!
Great it worked fantastic. For TCL TV having 80 pins. Left Panel Flickering:- Ribbon PX2 count -Mask with pvc tape on Pin No 68 and 69 both together. Right Panel:- As like in Video. 😊
Thanks for the video! Here are a few tips that worked for me. 1. Left side of the tv flickered so had to pull out the opposite ribbon to the one in this video. Then tape pins 68 and 69 (like others have said) 2. Counted the pins by listening to an exacto blade go over each one. Was much easier to count the clicking sound and feel than counting just with eyes. 3. I put blue marker on the tape so I could see the tape better and make sure I covered correct pins. Really happy I found this video. Now just have to wait and see if the right side fails too. Not a good sign there have been so many people with this problem. TCL👎

Wow, can't believe this worked. I have a TCL 55s423-CA. It's the same fix with the same pins. The only difference is the ribbon cables are at the bottom of the TV instead of in the middle! Thank you so much for the video!
It's worked! 🎉 mine is the left side of the screen, hard to count the pin, but I did it anyways and it worked, if yours is left side just count from left to right pin 12-13 cover both with masking tape, that you so bro 🥳
Same issue happened to me today .. exact ditto.. and man I don't have words how to thank you. It worked so well and it's back to normal . All thanks to you . Take a bow !!! 👍🏼
Thank you so much sir. It really worked. It was a bit difficult to identify the pins 68th and 69 th and taping them correctly. It completely stopped flickering on the left side while viewing on the front side of the LED TV. You have saved lot of money. This stickering also stopped grey lines appearing on the screen also. Thank you once again.
Thank you for posting this!! I couldn’t stand watching my TV and no other solutions worked. I did the 68th / 69th pin (from another comment) on the other side since it was my left side. Took me less than an hour. 🤘🏼🤘🏼🤘🏼
It worked for me, Thank you so much man!!! Saved lots of money. Saved My Xiomi 55 inch TV. under the hood I found same TCL hardware. Repair guy was asking for minimum 3K INR. with company it would be 15K + INR. Actual cost to me less than 5 INR.
Just pulled my TCL off the wall and taped the 12th and 13th contacts on the right screen ribbon. Worked like a CHARM! Thanks for putting this video up, sooooo tired of seeing my TV flicker! Your instructions are so clear that I was able to pull it off first try, but man those ribbon contacts are super small.
this worked for me like a charm. ❤ thank you so much for this video. saved me from buying a new tv. customer service charged 300 for a visit and said to throw it and buy a new one. 😮
Thanks a ton man. It worked for Mi TV 4X 55 inch Indian model The right side panel was flickering, I covered pins 67 & 68 left to right (12 & 13 right to left) Local shop asked 5000 inr (60$) so I fixed it myself God bless you!
It actually works.. thanks bro! Successful after 3 attempts switching on and off the tv to check. First 2 attempts of using overlapping scotch tapes didn't work. Finally works when I used a masking tape over the 2 layers of tape to fully block the connection. Easier to cut the tapes using penknife and cutting board. And magnifying glass to count the 12th and 13th strip.
THANK YOU, THANK YOU, THANK YOU. It worked!!! I was ready to junk my TV and buy a new one. There are several videos online that say to unplug and plug it back in, reset, adjust this or that and none work. This did! I most definitely have subscribed!!!
After multiple tries, it worked! Thank you so much, brother! You saved us a lot of money. Our problem is on the left side of the screen and we used masking tape to block the 68th and 69th pin, took us two hours. Thank you! 🙏🏻

Hey! This 100% worked and I’m so grateful for the time put into this fix, and the video. Only fix I’ve found that worked! Well done and thanks for the tip. Note. Mine is a 55” tcl and the wire ribbons were located and arranged differently than in this video - but I looked for where I could find the “1-80” numbers marked and found it under a panel on the bottom. Removed panel, counted in to 12&13 and it totally worked. First go I saw a pink vertical bar but adjusted and it worked. Thanks again!

Replying with the hope that someone, either the video creator or one of the many people in the comments who seem to understand the pins, can explain how the pin numbers were identified. If it’s ALWAYS 11/12 or 68/69 and that’s just understood, I wish someone would say this.
I just did the same process on my TLC 50" google TV and it worked. I appreciate it a lot, but I'm also curious how did he know those specific pin were the problem?
My left side was flickering Much much much thanks after trying 8 times I accurately applied tape to 12 and 13th pin and wallah it's working like a charm Thankssss love from Pakistan
Thank you! It worked for me on my TCL 55". Fortunately, I had a macro lens for my cell phone camera, otherwise my 70 year old eyes would not have seen the pins.
Great job. I had to do something similar. It’s usually a blown pixel messing with the clock signal. Blocking off one the pins bypasses this. If you look closely at your screen you may notice one pixel line greyed out, but the rest of the screen works perfectly well. TCL panels seem to have this issue, BOE and AU Optronics panels seem spared. Good job making this content accessible.
Thankyou so much sir...i was facing this issue my full screen was getting dim and bright...i fixed it by your method.... thankyou once again for your information it was really very helpful

So it's just using scotch tape on pins 12 and 13 to avoid contact? What were those pins for? I wonder if the TV's heat can create glue to melt and move to other pins. How long have you test this out. Thanks, BTW!
Hello, that's right, just scotch tape over the pins. Tested for about 2 weeks, no issues. Heat at the ribbon should be minimum, keeping fingers crossed. Those pins probably corresspond to Backlight auto adjustment functions which started malfunctioning causing the flicker and taping the pins disables that function altogether.
Man you are a life saver. This guy from TCL customer care center was charging me $115 to repair the TV. I took the TV back, watched your video and tried. It works absolutely flawless.
I can not believe it IT WORKED! ❤❤ Lots of respect for you my guy! You saved me a lot of money and stress! Though it did feel like surgery but it worked!! 🎉
Thankyou so much for this bro. I fixed my TCL tv with this method. But my issue was with left side of the tv flickering. So i taped 12th and 13th pin of the other ribbon connector. Please note u have to count from the opposite side for left side issue
I read in the comments of other YT clips on this that this requires a hardware replacement. Which part? I assume that taping pins on the ribbons leading to the T con (timing control) board disrupts the signals of the respective circuits from reaching this board thereby not engaging whatever component is faulty. So, is it highly likely that the T con board is faulty? And is it sensible to simply replace it? I have seen prices in the $30-35 range for a T con board. That's incredibly affordable and a much better option than paying a repair shop or getting a new TV.
Awesome video! Buy I do have a question. My 55in TCL has one black ribbon and looks like the 2 sides of the TV is daisy chained. Which pins would I tape in this scenario?
This actually freakin worked!! My TCL HAD THE 2 ribbons at the bottom (near the infrared sensor). Sure enough, took some time to get the tape sliver thin enough, applied on the end of an exacto knife with the help of iphone magnifier on a stand. But wow. 🙏👍👍
I have yet to try this "fix", maybe tomorrow. However what are pins 12 and 13 actually for? I assume they are meant to do something, so disabling them by covering them has no negative impact? Just curious

I did this and it worked! I have a slightly different model (55s405), so the ribbon connectors were are the bottom of the TV. I feel like I wasn’t even that precise (may have covered an extra pin). I thought i need to spend thousands to resolve this issue! This helped me so much! Thanks much buddy! Btw how did u know it's 12 and 13th pin causing issues and covering those with tapes will cause difference in display clarity?
Hello, I would like to know if this is just a temporary fix and if so, what would be the proper way of fixing it? Will I have to replace the t-con board?
Posted my comment in the wrong section. Moved it here. Original comment below. Hey! Wanted to say thank you so much! I'm extremely glad I found your video! You saved me a couple hundred USD. Your fix seems to have solved my flickering issue on the right side of my 55inch TCL Roku tv. Hope this fix lasts. Thank you again. P.s. How did you know it was pins 12 & 13? And what do they control? I'm very curious.
Hello, glad to know that your TV display issue is now fixed. Thanks for sharing your experience. With regards to the pins, each pin controls a different function of the display and the flicker issue is related to malfunctioning of the automatic backlight control and by taping the pins that control this feature we are in a way disabling the feature that is malfunctioning. You will still be able to control the backlight through settings.

Thank you!

@@RadnusTechnology how will you know which pin is defective? Mine is left side tcl p6us?
Thanks for your sharing here, i also had the same problem with my Mi TV 4S and taping pins 67+68 fixed it! So happy now.
Just a small correction for Left side flickering it's pin no 68 & 69 of left side display.. it's working fine for MI TV 4X (55)..

Does your tv have the single ribbon cable and then the short cable that "bridges" between the two sides? If so, where did you tape cable?
I've discovered that the R613/R615/R617 have at least two different internal setups despite being identical otherwise.

Thanks for the video! Here are a few tips that worked for me.
1. Left side of the tv flickered so had to pull out the opposite ribbon to the one in this video. Then tape pins 68 and 69 (like others have said)
TCL👎

How did you know its pin 12 and 13?
I have the same question
Replying with the hope that someone, either the video creator or one of the many people in the comments who seem to understand the pins, can explain how the pin numbers were identified. If it’s ALWAYS 11/12 or 68/69 and that’s just understood, I wish someone would say this.
I just did the same process on my TLC 50" google TV and it worked. I appreciate it a lot, but I'm also curious how did he know those specific pin were the problem?
