Sorry to be late, but there is another thing to explain, for foreginers!
At first, our salarys is high, even higher in our bigger citys, especialy for those higly educated, that is sought for by our companyes!
Its this, living cost is altso high in those areas, where all those higly educated with high salarys lives!
On top of that, taxes is high, it goes directly in to our healt care/hospitals/kindergarten/elderly care/education/social care/military defens/public transportation/cultur.. a lot of things!
Its rather this, whos paying for all of that, we pay for it our self.. we invest all those taxes in to our society, for our kids, for our retirment, for our old parents and relatives, and if one get sick!

You know, I was thinking it would be hard for Swedish and Nigerian people to meet. Accoring to Nigerians I've known, there's a very loose sense of punctuality, that if someone says an event begins at 3 that means people show up sometime between three and four, it's not exact. And Swedes on the other hand, I'm told they like to be very punctual and will show up early to avoid being late. So if there was a Swedish-Nigerian meetup, the Swedes will have already left by the time the Nigerians show up.
I'm joking of course, but that might be a good tip for Nigerians thinking of immigrating to Sweden: when they say be here at a specific time, they really mean to be there at exactly that time.

Learning English has been compulsory in Swedish schools since 1953, so everybody growing up in Sweden who is now about 80 years old or younger has learnt English. But many have had little reason to use it, and have gradually forgotten much of it. Then there are also people arriving from non-English speaking countries. They have usually learnt Swedish, but have great difficulty with English. Also, Swedish is only the official language of Sweden in international contexts (mainly to have European Union documents translated into Swedish), but within Sweden it's only the administrative language (e.g. the language the laws are written in and the working language of most public sector agencies).

You are very observant. Good advice. Only thing I would disagree with is the dating advice. Despite that we Swedes may feel uncomfortable when strangers come up to us you should not let it stop you. I am no good at it myself, but there are ways to approach and interact and get to know strangers without scaring them off. Just keep trying different things. You can do the internet dating at the same time.
