- Simon and Carolyne live full-time in their 1981 Mercedes Hymer Mobil campervan! They did their best to keep everything as original as possible. Simon even 3D printed some parts to replace them. Everything about this tiny home is beautiful and unique.

Weirdly, I saw a 1980s Hymer of the same era a few days ago in Ireland. Some of these go forever. I had a 1992 B654 on a Fiat. The Fiat part was mostly fine, but it was problem after problem with the habitation side. Mostly water related. Loose pipes, pump motor problems, leaks, etc. I got good at fixing them! Enjoy your van.
Hey, love the video! I've just bought the 1984 shorter model of this Hymer so I have the U-shaped seating area at the back instead of the bed. It's great to see that there are still others on the road!!
That's exactly the model I want! But I'm very tall (2m+) so I probably can't stand upright in it :/

What mpg do you get and how much does the tank hold?
no one talks about the motor in these things , it's important to know what's moving you around after all. What motor is powering a camper would be probably 60% of my decision next to the dimensions? mpg? cruising speed? power up hills ? i don't care what colour the shower curtain is
Mpg is 22-23 imperial, cruising speed is 50-55mph engine is 2.9 non-turbo 95hp with not a lot of power for hills, but it will get to the top eventually!! Best in auto 4 speed will last forever and gives a relaxed ride, very soft suspension with leaf springs at the front and rear. If lucky you get power steering. These are built very strong with nothing to go wrong with the om 602 engine.
