You can also use lemon juice as an additive to the tea. 1/4 wedge lemon per cup, use 2 teaspoons of honey instead of sugar as well.

My way with black tea is to use filtered water. Bring water to boil. Add the right amount of black tea. Turn off flame immediately. Let it steep 3-5 minutes. Strain and drink. If you want your tea as hot as possible, take your hot brewing pot off the stove. Put it on top of thick cardboard. Throw an old blanket over it/ Let steep 3-5 minutes. Strain and drink.

The material is called Enamel. It was very commonly used upto the end of 1950s with plates, bowls, mugs and basins made in Enamel. Army soldiers' mugs were of enamel.
