Hello Sir I am B.E in IT and currently working in MNC I want to go for phd and be lecturer what would be more preferable and is doing lecturer good ? I am damn confused
Hello Akshata, Once you go for PhD there are many options like, working in research Labs and Working as a professor. (Not lecturer). Although in India, the Education industry is sick. Its very toxic. I know all industries are. But I would request you to reconsider your thoughts about PhD. Just be sure of what you are getting into. PhD is usually toiling and a test of your character. Instead for now, you can upgrade your skills and change jobs so that you feel more challenged. Go for PhD only if you are obsessed with clear research goals you have.
Can a MS(R) student apply for PhD abroad since recommendation is to be given by guide of student. As you told that the prof may push students to pursue PhD under them only, can doing MSR be a disadvantage for such students?
No its not like that. Research Aptitude depends upon your curiousity and approach to problem solving. It is mostly developed at the end of MS. So MS is not the destiny, a good PhD is. At the end of Bachelors you are just a child born and professors know that!
Hi Mohit, may be it wont be feasible for us to create a seperate video on this niche topic but we can discuss something if you ping us on our facebook page!

@Sanuf, according to me the quality of placements are equal PAN old IITs. About this course being an MS course it shouldn't be different than M-Tech counterpart placements wise. Although if you get to hear from the alumni of this particular branch that will be perfect!
SIr is it easier to get phd abroad if one does MS-R from IIT?........and also since we do fewer courses in MS-R wont is cause problems for getting phd abroad due to lack of credits?
Sir I am doing BTech in Instrumentation Engineering from a tier 2 govt. college. My institute has good research output and faculties are all well qualified ( PhD+post doc degree holders with good research experience). My final goal is to do PhD from USA but before that, should I go for a MTech (research) or MTech in IISc Bangalore to strengthen my profile considering that I already have 2/3 research papers published in top journals during my BTech. Or should I directly apply for MS/PhD in foriegn universities? Also if I do a MTech from IISc will it increase my chances of getting in a top university in USA for PhD? I want to do PhD in Electrical or Computer Science Engineering but I just want to make sure that I get an admit from top 20 univ. in USA. Sir your guidance will gr8ly help. Thanks a lot!

Yes, definitely, MS then PhD and some after some Industry/Teaching experience you start the ladder with Assistant professor!

You will have to go with the oath of being project assistant etc. But its advisable that you write GATE
IIIT hyderabad , bits pilani, isi kolkata accept without gate

Sir Is it good possible to prepare for ies and or psu during MS in iit
Could be tough, instead choose some interdisciplinary branch in some IIT/NIT for preparation
