@@FindingSeconds awesome…..I have a 07’ and a the Rod Earrings are done SMG pump, clutch done….now I have a AbS controller that needs replacing….. I have a video up and a redline pull with muffler delete. Check it out!
These cars need quality attention. Just like your body needs it. Neglect your body… suffer later. Neglect the car… suffer later. I own an E60 M5, awesome piece of machine!
Hey! Thank you for watching and commenting. It was actually your videos that pushed me over the edge and gave me the confidence to buy one. I have a long list of things to check when purchasing one after I watched your videos. How are you enjoying yours now?
@@FindingSeconds That’s awesome! The E60 M5 is certainly not the nightmare car it’s made out to be, so long as they’re looked after properly. Owned mine for 3.5 years now and can honestly say I like it more and more the longer I own it, it still makes me smile when I drive it 🙂 Looking forward to seeing more of your M5 content 👍
@@MTechGuy Trying to find a way to get hold of you. You can find my email in the channel about me under contact. Any chance you could email me? Trying to set up a UA-cam mastermind and really respect what you have achieved :D
Nice tip on removing the wheel. I recently ran into that issue when I tried to remove a wheel on my wife's F10 to repair a flat tire. It wouldn't budge and I ended up having the car towed to the repair shop. 😄
That sucks! Hoping it helps someone else. I stopped once to help a family in the middle of winter with a flat. I must have been there for 30 minutes and no matter what I tried it wouldn’t come off. Even the recovery service had issues so it got towed. I’d love to go back and see if this would even remove that one :)
Trans fluid and filter is also recommended. I did it at the shop since i dont want to mess with the risk. But, it turned out well and the bmw gearbox was happy. Wish you best off luck with your e60 m5👍🏻
Thanks! The trans went through a full service when the clutch was done by the previous owner. They spent $8K on it but didn’t replace the plugs or gaskets. Makes me a wee bit worried about any other corners cut!
With regards to the passenger airbag fault light.. check the IBS cable and connections, my 06 plate had the same issue and it turned out to be a dirty connection with this cable. Great cars when they run properly... but so problematic and "fragile" for want of a better word. Total money pit and i got a good one, the rod bearings and vanos had been done but it was just one thing after another.. and it was never just a £20 fix usually £200 to £300 each time including the Alternator, Starter motor and Injectors. The only thing to do was to part company with it.. which i did approx a year ago and have no regrets thus far.
It's expensive to rehab a BMW M5 V10. Especially if the prior owners didn't have the money to perform the regular maintenance. These V10's are slowly disappearing because the 3rd and 4th owners apply questionable bolt-ons and generally beat the shit out of the cars. It's a shame because not very long from now, the value will start climbing but you will only get top dollar if the M5 is original and obviously not trashed.
Can you please upload the part where you remove what’s necessary to get to the siren part. In this video you fast forward so can’t get a good idea of it. I need to replace the battery on my E60 M5.
Hey Jeremiah, sorry I went too quickly. I'll slow down in future. I wasn't sure how interested people were :) I haven't got some of the raw footage but I did find this for you. This video details the process. You don't have to remove the entire bumper. Just remove the wheel well and loosen the right hand side. It should move enough for you to get the triangular bracket out. I hope this helps: ua-cam.com/video/XKB7cPrfVsc/v-deo.html
My brother! Thanks for taking the time to read and reply. I actually saw that video but the way you did it was way better! Thanks again! Keep posting videos on your progress but slow it down on anything you do to your M5. Mines only needs the battery replacement, and the thigh rest gear replaced. I received the metal gear yesterday and will be replacing it. I’ll record the video and save it. Keep in touch!
Ook just get one have one stop bothering with negative bullship comments service service service the engine is fabulous just got mine 12k on the clock but I love it AND ITS ONLY GOING ONE WAY UP UP UP GET ONE
5000TL but it’s right on the edge and I had to extend it. Might work better with the longer ones. They do extension plates too but not sure how that works. I have a bunch of cars I use it for so have to compromise.
@@FindingSeconds yeah I saw somewhere it was too far apart barely on the jack points but not sure if the extended one will fit under since I have 1nch lower springs in the front and m skirt etc..
How on earth did a Brit pickup that idiotic slang '"rod bearings" haha. Call it like it is man - and good luck with your adventure 👍 PS: As a 4th owner I replaced my big end bearings and internal VANOS line at 100KLM - it had been driven very hard, and for long time with a chronically haemorrhaging HP line - and all was good...
Definitely worth every penny 😎🏎💨💨💨
Absolutely :)
I fully understand that smile...😊
👍👍👍
Glad it's not just me :D

Great video, sounds like it’s been an interesting adventure so far with the M5 👍

I have a really nice one in Interlagos blue...
That blue is a fantastic color. Would love to see some pictures.
5w50 Ive been using on all these cars and the m3 I have is on OEM rod bearings and it has 138k miles and it isn't babied either
I’m going to start experimenting with oil and oil analysis to see if we can’t get some data on that. Great info though!

100% agree! I have started to see that on bringatrailer. The values are going up for sure.

It's not a BMW until all of the "Obligatory disco light" comes on. :) But once everything is sorted, you'll have one awesome car.
Thanks Juan. I might have to use that phrase the next time I get a code :)

Which quickjack worked with your car?

Changing vanos line with wrong instruction can kill the engine
That sounds baad! What did you find was the most risky part?

Love it! I would be interested to see a picture of the bearings if you have one?
I’m selling my v10 m5 . Located in western NY if anyone is interested. 88k miles. SMG. Asking 16k
Might be worth posting on the M5 E60 FB group
