Even the drivers knew they simply couldn't keep up with the speed, those cars were absolute monsters and the engineers kept sacrificing everything to get faster. That Lancia that caught on fire must've been the last drop of water to put group B out...
Dunno which race driver said this, but if you lost the direction at some moment, just aim for the people. Thats where the road is for sure.

@@TheBarry1394 the early stock version did have something like that, the later upgraded one's would have over 900HP, 0-100 in less than 2 seconds and I haven't seen anything on top speed but 900HP should allow you to go quite fast. Not a mechanic or knowledgeable on the subject but I'd guess 400km/h atleast.

I don't know about hands and feet but I've read that the with the speeds they were going and the winding roads they were driving, the last Group B cars were hitting the limit of how fast a drivers eyeball can focus to different distances.

We can shit on electronics all day, and most of the time we are right, but going that fast on a unpaved road that narrow, with the torque of a truck, the power of a racecar, the grip of a bicycle and people in the middle of your path, with jumps and everything, with nothing but "raw experience" it's almost impossible to avoid crashes.
No electronics is good until the car is not excessively reactive, then it gets very complicated and being us humans, we have a limit to how quick we can react, and we don't know for sure how much is it
This is that rare instance where spectating can be considered an extreme sport

Here's something that should interest you:
In 2017, the engines for the cars will be amped to 380 hp and wing restrictions are soften so bigger spoilers. Sure it's not the same as Group B but still.
Yeah, but only the time proves everything, especially engines. You won't see insane 6cyl engines roaring, not hyper revving 4cyls. Europe is filled with engines 1.0L (3cyl) and even less, so disgusting. They might amp the displacement up, but they didn't said about how much. As i look back, even Trabant or Wartburg is more fun to drive, then nowadays downsized stuff. Mainly because its revvy and only two stroke. I strongly disbelive fact, that they will amp it up the sky, because of the restrictest restricts on CO² emisions (shit they know in Brusel about enviroment). As with everything, nowadays/future things won't be built to last, but to profit in limited time (5 years, give or take).

This is probably the coolest music video I have ever seen. Even though it wasn't CGI or neonlights and random cars from the 70s driving in a straight line. It perfected the love of rally monster cars and synthwave.

Group B: THE most amazing race series of all time. Le Mans, F1, TransAm, DTM...all amazing races, but GroupB is, and until cars fly, the most badass intense skilled driving race series. The antithesis is Rally is NASCAR, THE most boring car racing series of all time.

Group B and retro/synthwave goes so well together
Group b was the pressure that inspired performance oriented 4WD. All 4wd systems before this were clunky and cumbersome and really didn't provide much advantage over 2wd
