Home Alone 3 is definitely a movie I'd watch by myself if family/friends don't like it as much. I watch it every year still, definitely a classic in it's own way.
Fun (Weird) Fact: It's actually the first home alone movie that I ever watched and grew up with the most. It's definitely a classic in my book but the originals 1 & 2 are also hands down wonderful Christmas classics
It was my most rented from Blockbuster. Its my favorite one of all of them. I tried to watch the 4th one and couldn't stomach it. Didn't know there was anything else after 4.
Home Alone 3 was actually written by John Hughes and with the intention of Macauley Culkin returning as Kevin. Originally it was to have shot back to back with 2. After Culkin and his management vetoed that, the understanding was he'd come back to it later. However in 1994, Culkin retired from acting and by 1996 when the film was finally made he was 16. Old enough to drive, so not exactly in peril at being left Home Alone.
@@ponraul1221 Where do you go after New York? Apparently the 1997 film was written from scratch after Culkin retired. I can believe that, as a return to the McCallister House setting seems a step down. I'd love to know what was in Hughes discarded script for HA3.
Ur definitely not the only one but your definitely in the minority. I liked it as a kid but the last time I seen it, I realized it wasn’t my cup of water

Not bad for a plan b as John originally wrote a Home Alone 3 for Culkin as a teenage but he quit acting in 94. So he scrapped it and wrote the Home Alone 3 we know today. I'm glad it wasn't what i expected. It's underrated.
The issue is the second home alone movie. If that movie didn’t continue from the first and had a brand new case of character, then I feel like three would be received much better. But people see it as a lesser home alone

I think a reboot would have been interesting if they had of cast Culkin as the new antagonist. Maybe even bring back Pesci, or Stern, in the role of an Old Man Marley, or Pigeon Lady kind of role.
*Unpopular opinion:* I love the 3rd one. I think Alex was so sweet and adorable, and his parents being busy with work is far more realistic than flying off on vacation lol. Alex became his own iconic character and his traps were so much fun. His relationship with his mom was far more understanding than Kevin's. The latter half of Violent Night is filled with the most violent bloody traps every created by a sweet little girl. I recommend it as a spiritual successor. :)
My 4 year old was addicted to Home Alone 1 and 2 last year, but he has completely stopped acknowledging those two and will only watch 3 now. I'm not sure what it is, but it has made actually pay attention to many of the gags I didn't catch as a kid. And to that point, "You should have taken driver's ed" gets me rolling every time!
I watched all 6 and love all of them. I will defend Home Alone 3 forever lol and I have a soft spot for Home Alone 4: Taking Back the House (I grew up watchin this one on VHS many times so it's a guilty pleasure for me) and Home Alone: The Holiday Heist. Even I can acknowledge that Home Sweet Home Alone isn't really good but I was entertained enough that I could watch it and have a good laugh. Ofc the first 2 are the better ones but that doesn't mean the others should be dismissed. The sequels were never meant to be better than the first 2. They were meant be entertaining in different but similar ways like those 2. If ppl like them just as much or received respectfully, then that's a plus. But everybody hates all of them after 2, with sum liking 3. I enjoy all the stories they tell and I will continue to watch.
I liked the third movie. After I saw bits of the fourth one and I honestly cringed a bit, I didn’t even bother watching the next two (didn’t even know the fifth one even existed).
Great video! I am so glad you like Home Alone 3. I know it's not great, but I've always enjoyed it and think it gets way to much hate! Home Alone 1&2 are two of my all-time favorite movies and even though I don't think The Holiday Heist is a good movie, I do thin it's better than 4. I have avoided Home Sweet Home Alone.
I'm really not a fan of "Home Alone 2". I watched "Home Alone 3" the other day on a whim, and to my surprise, I actually kinda liked it, for the reasons you mentioned. I just wasn't a fan of the climax when it got too silly and many of the slapstick gags looked fake. Overall though, it's still kind of enjoyable in its own way.
I've always felt that part of why his family are such jerkoffs to him at the beginning is specifically because we see them through Kevin's immature eyes, we see them as he sees them and as he feels a put upon little kid with a mean old family.
Also technically Kevin was 9 in Taking Back the House while he was 8 in the original and somehow 10 in Lost in New York(which is a year later). Ik it's a gripe I had too but doesn't really bother me that much lol
I look at the 3rd film being similar to Halloween 3, Home alone 3 still takes place around Christmas, Halloween 3 takes place during the days leading up to Halloween. They just tweaked a couple of things in both respective sequels. Instead of Kevin we got a new character. In Halloween 3 instead of Michael Myers being the big bad, it was a mask company. I liked it.
I literally couldn’t even finish Holliday heist, it might be because the first 4 I grew up with (yes even the 4th) so those were just nostalgia things but something about holiday heist I just couldn’t get past the 30 minute mark (and I only watched the new one because I saw it had buzz in it)
This got me going down the Home Alone rabbit hole. How could you not mention Stoned Alone in the future of the series part? An R rated, Ryan Reynolds produced, parody/spiritual sequel/sequel to Home Alone, staring Macaulay Culkin as a now stoner adult Kevin McCallister, who gets stoned, misses his flight, and must then work out if his house is really getting broken into, or if it's just weed induced paranoia. Unfortunately, it got put into development hell after Home Sweet Home Alone was announced, but God I hope this sees the light of day, it sounds incredible!
I legit just found out today that there were 3 more movies made. I’m gonna check them out just because. But I was also the minority as a kid who enjoyed Home Alone 3.
Rob and Georgette are the Uncle and Aunt whos under-renovated home was not the target of the bandits, because there was nothing in the house of value that would give them the opportunity to rob, it was not the home itself Keven was tying to protect, he was trying to save himself as well as the children's hospital adjacent to where Mr. Duncan is concerned on that front. Home Alone 3 is the second weirdest Home Alone non-cannon film ever, but it also brings out the biggest laughs than you ever get out of the other five films altogether with Home Alone Holiday Heist being the first weirdest (and I don't mean by release order or continuation order, because neither of them have anything to do with each other anyway).
I'm the weird one who really likes 3 over the first two for two major reasons. The villains in 3 are pure gold, and I cannot stand how irritating Kevin is as a kid, whereas Alex is a good kid just stuck home because of the pox
I like "Home Alone: Take Back The House", because of much of the originality and it kind of gives off "The Blank Check", type vibe to it as well as the Christmas spirit you expect to see in a Home Alone film, but my only beef with it, is that it is not the proper sequel that the director claims it to be, because HA 2 Lost in NY was already 'the' sequel, and the only "Proper" sequel to that, that we got to go on with is the sixth instalment of the franchise.
After watching home alone 1 for the 999th time I still think it’s one of the best comedy films. It wasn’t just about the booby traps and slapstick comedy but it had emotional themes about family/ friendships/ being kind and good. These other films which I’ll never watch seem to lack this. Also the scripts and acting seems natural compared to these other ones. The music by John Williams and soundtrack choice are l unforgettable.

@@TomGallagherSuperboyBeyond agreed, I think had they stopped at just the three films, the 3rd one wouldn’t get the automatic hate it does when being lumped in with the ‘ones that aren’t Culkin’ . As a film, it was refreshing that it didn’t try to continue the previous two.
Home Sweet Home Alone isn't a Disney+ exclusive, I've seen it on Netflix before, or maybe it was Vudu. Home Alone, Home Alone 2, the Home Alone Google ad, the Home Alone AVGN episode. are GREAT, AWESOME, iconic and fun respectively. Home alone 3 is better than 4,5 and 6.
Seems I'm not alone in liking the 3rd movie. Some of the traps were just hilarious to watch. Didn't realize the 6th (reboot) Home Alone was so disliked, but that was my experience, yes. Did _not_ like the kid. Both because he stole the doll in the first place, and that he seemed pretty homicidal. I don't remember specifically, but I think I also took issue with the fact that the situation wasn't more easily resolved? Like the kid was selectively deaf to what the couple were saying? In any case, I remember thinking the whole situation was bloody stupid.
Old man Marley literally gave me nightmares for some reason as a kid. I had a dream that he broke into our house beat my grandma mom and sister and threw me into the tree. He also looked a lot like my moms uncle so until I was like 8 I was scared of my uncle
Alex should have been on this list. And even though Home Alone 2 was good, I'd put Home Alone 3 over 2 because the story was more relatable to the first movie.

I'm glad it wasn't. It's underrated.
Q: What comes to mind when you hear the phrase classic Christmas movie?
A: absolutely nothing. My brain doesn’t grasp the concept of a Christmas movie
Home Sweet Home Alone Stole The trampoline From HA3
Classic Christmas movie : Friday after Next
Unaddressed question. Which ones did NOT use the John Williams score?
21:18 agree, the new ones are just yuck, no way, OG home alone and home alone 2 still great and viewed every Christmas in my house
Home Sweet Home Alone isn't a Disney+ exclusive, I've seen it on Netflix before, or maybe it was Vudu. I don't know, all I know is I seen the movie before and don't have Disney+. nor have I ever bought Disney+ before so if someone else remembers seeing it on another streaming service, please reply and let me know which one cause I don't remember.
I don’t understand the hate HA2 gets, I thought it was pretty damn good. They had to make changes so then it wasn’t just being left alone in the house again.
Kevin was eight in Home Alone. The second film was called Lost in New York, not Lost in New York City.
im late 30s now and the only home alone films that are worth a mention are the 1st 2 as the rest suck. home alone 2 has always been my fave since i saw it when i was 8 0r 9
I personally only like the first second and third but my favorite one is the first
It's so refreshing to see someone else enjoy Home Alone 3, my brother and I always loved watching it and while not part of the same continuity, we thought it was great on its own.
Plus we still to this day quote that damn parrot. I think it was the best part of that movie.
The boy in the 3rd movie went method acting and actually got chicken pox in order to understand his character better!
WTF happened to Chris Columbus?
yeah he just vanished from movies it seems
The last thing he directed was "Christmas Chronicles 2" for Netflix.
I fucking love Uncle Frank.

1 & 2 are classics but I did enjoy the 3rd I use to watch the 3rd a lot when I was sick
0:38 - And that's why I want my local network to finally start broadcasting something else.
I actually committed a burglary copying Home Alone 2, and it actually worked partly. Got away.
I agree Home Alone 3 is a great movie
HOME ALONE
HOME ALONE 2
HOME ALONE 3
are the best
I thought the first three were good but I really didn't like the rest and I still haven't watched the last one in the franchise. But I have to say the first two are the best in the franchise that should if stopped after part three.
Love 1 .. 2....need am official 3 w the same cast
Home Alone, Home Alone 2, the Home Alone Google ad, the Home Alone AVGN episode. are GREAT, AWESOME, iconic and fun respectively. Home alone 3 is better than 4,5 and 6.
If I had an uncle like that I guess every holliday dinner would end up with me chocking him to shut up
Well I guess I fortunate I've only seen 1 2 and 3
Can we all agree that the McCallister's were not "middle class" by any means. Lmfao
imagine having elvis in a movie only to make him unnoticeable.
I liked the traps in home alone 3 except for the one where he falls down like 20 stories of the house even though it only has 3 or 4
Seems I'm not alone in liking the 3rd movie.
No mention of the unofficial Kevin as a serial killer short starring Mc?
GREAT & VERY GOOD:
Home Alone 1990 - 10/10
Home Alone 2 - 1992 - 7/10
Home Alone 3 - 1997 - 8/10

TERRIBLE AND BAD
Home Alone 4 - 2002 - 1/10
Home Alone 5 - 2012 - 2/10
Home Alone 6 - 2021 - 2/10
Just about right.
"Is Home Alone 3 a classic? No. Is home alone 3 [definition of classic]. Yes" -JoBlo 2022 Christmas
You speaking about game adaptation of first movie and yet showing us the game adaptation of the second one!
Home alone 1 & 2 were brilliant 3 was great 4 was also great but 5 is all right and 6 is brilliant like 1 & 2 11:37
NBC Announcer: 'A new Thanksgiving tradition...'.
Old man Marley literally gave me nightmares for some reason as a kid. I had a dream that he broke into our house beat my grandma mom and sister and threw me into the tree. He also looked a lot like my moms uncle so until I was like 8 I was scared of my uncle
the third Home Alone movie is brilliant, I dont care what they say. It got me into the franchise
Home Sweet Home Alone is a cool movie and you can't change my mind!!!
What about Last Blood
Home Alone 4 is not a sequel or precuel is a different continuity and was intended as the Pilot for a tv show
There is a Home Alone 5 where Kevin is a teen, Never heard anyone talk about it.
Alex should have been on this list.
And even though Home Alone 2 was good, I'd put Home Alone 3 over 2 because the story was more relatable to the first movie.
Would Home Alone 4 be a requel then?
*WTF happened to these JoBlo series?*
This is merely a movie recap, not the usual "WTF happened" behind the scenes info dump it used to be
Why watch recaps for movies we saw trillion times already? :/
..wait... you think the bad guys in home alone 3, rivals any villain from the James Bond movies?
