We're planning on monthly in-person workshops locally at Pace Wellness Center and will be posting videos along the way as well.
In January we are focusing on cooking from scratch. so in this video I talk abit about the plan forward and I show you how I render a bit of lard.
WE WANT TO HEAR FROM YOU! What would be a valuable workshop to close out January in the spirit of cooking from scratch? I'm thinking potluck alongside some learning.
We're a small family farm in the Florida Panhandle. After relocating back home from the Middle East we wanted to build up the most self- sufficient lifestyle possible with our kids, in order to grow as much of our own food as possible. Through raising livestock, tending to a garden, preserving food through canning and fermenting, learning about local fauna for medicinals and wild edibles, we are hoping to encourage others to do as much as possible for themselves through re-learning some of the forgotten "old" skills.

Rafael, you made my day!
Sign me up! This sounds awesome, I'm trying to add to my list of things I can start crossing off my grocery list. Just start my acv and sour dough starter.
Awesome! We have a free workbook up and also do videos and in person meet ups in Santa Rosa County
I'm behind the ball on the Skill building "course" but I'm excited you are doing Rendering Lard!! We just processed 2 pigs and asked for the fat so I could render it and I'm TERRIFIED!! We should be getting them back this week!!
You got this! It's not a course per se. We've got a free workbook for tracking, taking notes, jotting down notes etc.
Locally we plan to do monthly in person workshops and for mon locals there will be videos and lives
@HiddenOaksHomestead I've already got the work book and I'm actually from that area of Florida (Crestview) but we live in Texas now. I would love to attend one of the meet ups and I can see my youngest son!!!
As I watch this I'm putting my crock pot on with venison stew meat, organic beets, onions, tators, beef broth, and seasonings. So we can have a stew for dinner. Our family loves soups/Stews served with sour cream or sour kraut for added nutrition.
That sounds delicious! We're sharing recipes over on facebook. Maybe you want to join in
@@HiddenOaksHomestead I would love to!!!
I learned that the older standard American breeds of pigs tend to put on more fat than most breeds raised today. Wondering if you do your bread baking with wheat you mill yourself? Happy New Year!
Happy New Year! I have not taken the milling step yet. It's on my list
I love using lard to cook with unfortunately I'm unable to process my own so I have to buy it
I love natural fats to cook with. The flavor is simply unmatched
I would love to be a part of a local meet-up. I'm in North Okaloosa County.
