2024 IJIS Community Forum - The Value of Responding to Mental Health Crisis Workshop, Pt. 1

  • This session will highlight prior justice and health initiatives by IJIS and CSG Justice Center, which have laid the groundwork for enhancing the synergy between law enforcement and behavioral health through various innovative collaborations. Topics will include utilizing artificial intelligence to screen and triage calls for service, how to capture cross system data, and how to leverage that data to inform crisis response. Methodologies for collecting data for behavioral health calls for service will be discussed to determine a national count. Also hear about new opportunities with 988 and how it will impact operations to help address this crisis as well as what works and what barriers still exist.
