For US to help in the WPS, Philippines has to ask for help. Those are the rules. Its the Philippine politicians fault becauae they dont even want to consider American assistance. They would rather the country get bullied and make posturing statements but suffer embarrassment over and over because they dont have the courage of their conviction to assert their sovereignty. Unlike Vietnam, India... etc.

I have a solution:
Let's do this, the Philippines should have a plebiscite and the U.S. push the issue in the U.S. Congress. Both countries have to work to deal with their respective government.
The U.S. and the Philippines have had a treaty since I was born. Why do we need to fool around, and why not put the Philippines in the protectorate of the United States? Same as Guam, the Mariana Islands, Wake Island, Puerto Rico, Virgin Island "without joining the Union of the United States".
THIS IS HOW THE UNITED STATES CAN LEGALLY AND USE THE TREATY ULTIMATELY.
IF this happens, China knows it's the jurisdiction of the United States to protect and defend the Philippines.
Why do we need to play games? renewing and making more EDCA sites? It is darn the same thing! By being under the protection, the Philippines and the U.S. can use the Treaty effectively and ultimately.

Resupplying missions with US assistance is a waste of time as the Blockade is the issue here, China will not back down despite condemnations from every country. They are making an example out of us, assistance or not, I think conflict is inevitable and we are not prepared.

4:38 i agree to this. Even if many ASEAN countries also claiming its own territory based on its EEZ. ASEAN countries are not united to confront the CCP because each asean countries has its own interest towards china so they cant act tough towarda them.

The best way for Philippine is to negotiate with China and reach an agreement as the other ASEAN countries did, don't rely on US and they not support and they could only make the things complex and worse. Getting into the war is not what Philippine want.

ARTICLE III
US could give more "ironclad" promises or may be Canada and Australia could join in and give more layers of iron.
