I made that same decision 10 years ago and have never regretted it. Met my wife and married after 6 years. Bought house in Khon Kaen and have never been so happy or feeling so blessed as I do now. My daughter (from my wife's first marriage) who calls me Papa, is in her final year at Mahasarakham University studying at the Faculty of Fine and Dramatic Arts (Thai Dance) I am very proud of her and her achievements. The last time we went back to UK was 2017 and I must say I don't really miss it (except perhaps for the beauty of the four different seasons) We were intending returning for my 75th birthday next year, but as air fares have gone up so much, it looks as though we will have to save up for a few more years, especially if the £ continues to drop against the baht and the $ ! 🙂 You are right to be wary of people, as some are not what they seem, however, I have found most Thai people, (and other nationalities), to be very pleasant and anxious to help, even at Immigration 🙂 If you can stand the heat and not get too uptight about anything, adapt slowly to the differences in culture and food, than Thailand is for you. Your positive lifestyle is the reason I follow you guys. I have been to Thailand 3 times (1 month each time). My last time was in April 2022. After returning to the US, I decided to sell everything and put my house for rent. I'm moving to Thailand on October 17th YAY!!! Nobody gets a free pass in this life. Everybody is a target for criticism, especially if they are in the public eye and attempting to improve their lives and the lives of others. But criticism doesn't have to be a bad thing; it can motivate and liberate your thinking to attempt to accomplish even more. Nobody is perfect...not even good old Foreigner Joe. 😆
If you have money coming in every week or month then its not hard it's actually very easy as long as you have cash in Thailand you can do anything and I'm talking from experience it's not a big deal to retire in Thailand.

I still got a few years to go before I can retire, so my wife moved from Thailand to Australia, we are both working hard saving like crazy, already bought our land in Thailand and next year will start building our dream home, we just want to make sure we'll be financially secure before moving there permanently. Watching your videos only inspires us to work harder so we can start living the dream sooner, there's too much negativity in this world, seeing both of you having fun and enjoying life is what living is all about, "In the end we only regret the chances we didn't take." Joe, Gift....during the Pandemic....l independently started following several Asian blogs. Yours was fantastic. I especially loved how you cared for the beach dogs and got them fixed. Then to find you knew No Time to be Sad...and Ride for Kickz...and were meeting them socially....it blew my mind....all my favorites. You are all living the right way. Travel the World...which educates and enlightens you. Before l was 30 ( and into my 60's)...l had been all over the World....Asia (Thailand included)...Pacific lslands, Europe, the Caribbean lslands......having married a Pan Am flight attendant and had the flexible time to travel on her 2-3 day multiple layovers for her job...or touring on our own. lf we ever meet, we could pass some great travel stories.

Very nice to hear and see your video,I have been in PKK many times,and also in Hua Hin,where me an my Thai girlfriend will have a house,and I love the surroundings around PKK,Ao Manao in Wing 5,and also the small fishing village Klong Wan,about 30 minutes drive from PKK,to get there during daytime you can drive across Wing 5 to get to that small village,and I have also been to the temple in Ban Grud,with an awesome enormous Buddha,and also the little small beach at Ban Grud,so I must say that you have chosen a very nice part of Thailand to retire in.Stay safe and enjoy your life with Gift,I think she’s a true “gift” Cheers from us here in Sweden 😊

Great and honest video Joe, as ever. Retirement alone is a huge step, being a Lineman for 40 years, missing my job, missing my Linemen Brothers is only natural. But your next step to move to Thailand was another huge risk!!! But you got it rite. You met Gift who I've only met the once but I can tell she is a lovely lady. The Gifts, Nui's Paiges etc etc are rare in these parts. We are now well into our 1st year here in Thailand and we could not be happier. Joe that was a wonderful video. I tune in briefly often and I can see you like me have been very fortunate to find special lady like @tarn Lano (EB Pizza Cafe) in Gift. I watched your whole video this time too. I'll leave it here/there and AGAIN you and gift and ALL the other vloggers are welcome as we're all a little different I'm guessing. I loved meeting Paige YEARS ago and Chuck in SOME ways reminds me of myself and... So continued success and dreams and life. Turkey offer still stands too..... I should be fairly easy to find.... Very nice to hear and see your video,I have been in PKK many times,and also in Hua Hin,where me an my Thai girlfriend will have a house,and I love the surroundings around PKK,Ao Manao in Wing 5,and also the small fishing village Klong Wan,about 30 minutes drive from PKK,to get there during daytime you can drive across Wing 5 to get to that small village,and I have also been to the temple in Ban Grud,with an awesome enormous Buddha,and also the little small beach at Ban Grud,so I must say that you have chosen a very nice part of Thailand to retire in.Stay safe and enjoy your life with Gift,I think she’s a true “gift” Cheers from us here in Sweden 😊

Great and honest video Joe, as ever. Retirement alone is a huge step, being a Lineman for 40 years, missing my job, missing my Linemen Brothers is only natural. But your next step to move to Thailand was another huge risk!!! But you got it rite. You met Gift who I've only met the once but I can tell she is a lovely lady. The Gifts, Nui's Paiges etc etc are rare in these parts. We are now well into our 1st year here in Thailand and we could not be happier. I realy hope🙏🙏that I feel the same in 4 years, im guessing I will. Well done in your life choices. A truly great couple that deserve each other for life. As you mentioned about the people to be careful of????. Spot on Pal ✅️. Its nit the Thais you gotta watch. Keep your friends close and your enemy's closer 🤣🤣. Hope to meet you guys again 1 day.
