I started training a few years ago and it helped me with my back pain. Of course it depends what the issue is.. For me the stretching helped tremendously

I'm 53, there's a club near me where there is a 63 year old black belt and a pensioner who has a brown belt, so not impossible to start at my age( tried judo and TKD when I was younger, but wasn't keen). Only problem I have is due to a fall on ice and working with a laptop 38 hours a week, my right shoulder is sometimes stiff and sore. Don't know if this would stop me taking up karate as I need the discipline and to keep the weight off.

Nothing can stop you if you put your mind to it. In fact you'll probably find that with time your injury improves
