  • In this relaxing ASMR maps video I am looking at an atlas with maps of Romania, Serbia and Moldova on a paper map and doing some map tracing using a bamboo stick pointer.
    I am speaking in a male deep voice with a Welsh accent and switch between soft spoken and whisper voice.

    Romanian here. Plenty of bears, they became somewhat of a tourist attraction. In towns like Brașov is not uncommon to see them casually walking through town.

      Rarely but still not uncommon. It's a whole *thing*.

    Great video! Thanks for including Moldova:) Little correction: Moldovans speak Romanian as well, and the official language of Moldova is Romanian. It was called Moldovan during Soviet times in an effort to create a separate Moldovan identity.

    Actually, “hour” in Ukrainian isn’t “час”, it’s “година”. “Час” in Ukrainian means “time” ( “время” in Russian). Some words in slavic languages are spelled and/or pronounced the same, but have different meanings. Because of it, many people often confuse it, when hearing different Slavic languages, even Slavs themselves:)

    A little late, but as many have said, amazing pronunciation and efforts! Much appreciating people with genuine cultural knowledge.
    One thing I found a little funny was pointing to Banat as Oltenia, which is actually located between Olt river and Orșova city. Oltenians don't exactly have the best reputation in Romania due to being seen as arrogant, poor and dangerous (I don't believe in these things myself and I'm not from there). Banatians, on the other hand, are seen as quite their opposite, having been so 'culturally diverse' and 'civilized by being the door to the West'. Of course, people with lesser possibilities will move where it's better, in this case Timișoara and satellite cities/villages. It's quite a meme at this point to call Timișoara stuff like 'Oltenișoara' due to how numerous they are, and while the Internet likely exaggerates it, I've seen the distaste people from Banat have for those from Oltenia is quite real. Not throwing hate, just found it slightly ironic haha

    6:28 Just a short note, but Vlad Dracul (he was the guy who did the stuff you talked about but iirc Bram Stoker never outright stated that Dracula was based on him so maybe this isn't the count you had in mind) was from Wallachia, not Transylvania

    Nice video! Could you do rest of the Balkans in the future, Croatia, Slovenia, Bosnia, Montenegro, Albania, just for example. Greets from Croatia!

    • @ivanmikloska9036
      @ivanmikloska9036 Рік тому

      Slovenia and Croatia are not the Balkans.

    • @toni-txdn3674
      @toni-txdn3674 Рік тому

      @@ivanmikloska9036 Geographically speaking, yes they partly are, anything southern of Sava/Krka rivers in Slovenia, southern of Sava and Danube rivers in rest of the countries is Balkan. More than half of Croatia and a good part of Slovenia are Balkan geographically, just like Vojvodina in Serbia and most parts of Romania aren't, again geographically. Culturally and historically, especially in recent history both countries were strongly connected to others, (although I would argue about Slovenia on that one) making them Balkan. But you can definitely say they are Balkan, just like you could say for Serbia or Romania who are also partly in Balkans.

    • @toni-txdn3674
      @toni-txdn3674 Рік тому

      Also technically small chunk of Italy, again because Trst/Trieste in Italy could be considered geographically Balkan, but I ain't going that far too argue that😅
