In Rie’s defense our American palates have been completely obliterated by being raised on sugar-packed artificial foods
In defense of common culinary sense, unsweetened whipped cream tastes like cotton and doesn't belong in dessert
@@MrAndrewaziz Yeah, I’m not American and nor am I sweet mad, but when I bake, I always use whipped cream that’s at least sweetened to a degree. 50g is fine and brings out the other flavours of the cream too
As a new subscriber, I've binged most of David's videos within the past month or so. The improvement in his cooking skills from 3 years ago to today are astonishing.

What I've learned works best when thinking of recreating Tasty's recipes:
Taking the parts you like from how they presented or made the recipe, and do it with a different recipe/combination of recipes altogether.
E.g. for this one, I like the idea of making cereal cream puffs, but I would use a better cream puff recipe, and then steep the fruit loops in the custard and whipping cream prior to whipping the cream and adding it to the custard. Then you'd colour and decorate them similarly. I feel like you'd get a better/sweeter outcome this way.
For a different recipe, I liked their idea of making rainbow croissants, but I followed a croissant recipe I know and trust and then just did the added step of dyeing some of the dough.

5:48 An easier method is piping all colours side my side in plastic wrap, roll them together, cut the tips and then place it in the piping bag 😊
Its a more traditional way and work well enough but at the cost of more plastic wrap

It made sense to me that Rie didn't put any sugar, cause the Fruit Loops already had a lot of sugar and that the sugar would already be infused with the milk.
The result of it being not super sweet, it's probably because she's Japanese and adjusted it to her preference. Their pastries look so cute but are like never western sweet. I've had a lot of Japanese pastries in Japan and it's always, this needs more flavor/sweetness. Although I've tried Rie's fancy spam and was disappointed with the end result. The pre-deep fried dish tasted miles better than after being deep fried.

Other tip for piping split coloured creme: Put the creme on top of/next to eachother on seran wrap, roll it into a sausage, close one end off by twisting and pinching, then put this in your piping bag with the open end facing the end of the bag inside, tadaaaaaa

Just a tip for whipping cream by hand, try sliding/rubbing the handle of the whisk backwards and forwards between the palms of your hands. It really makes it so much easier!

I lift my hat to you. I've never made cream puffs, it just intimidates me, and I think might take a bit of time, and I'm way too weak to whip cream by hand. They also ended up looking so good. My kitchen creations don't always do. It is Rie though, maybe as you put it that's why the results seem attainable. Still, great job 👏
This reminds me of one of our "fastelavnsboller" or Shrovetide buns. The puffs aren't sweet, neither the whipped cream. However they are usually served with icing on top and prune jam inside :)
