I know actors hate bootlegs, but I really wish we could find a way for fans to have theatre be accessible with actors not completely hating anyone involved. I'm sorry I live in a completely different state and have NO money to see tours on the rare occasion tours are scheduled. Guess I'll just listen to the cast recording. I mean people have been dealing with inaccessible theatre for decades, why move accessibility forward? *shrug*

katherine thomassen honestly tho. Bootlegs are currently the only way for people to see the show that they love but can’t afford to see.
i live in adelaide, australia. if i like a broadway show, i have to wait 10 years until it comes to my country. even then, it might not even come to my city. bootlegs are the only way i can see shows with my idols in them. if i didn’t watch bootlegs, i wouldn’t ever see kerry butler performing and i don’t think i can live with that!

I do feel bad for those who cannot access live theatre, however I think that bootlegs should not be allowed until the show has closed. This is because the cast and crew usually have certain secrets and jokes in the show that they want the audience to be surprised by. For example, I was lucky enough to see Beetlejuice live and there were some little secrets and jokes that I never knew were in the show until I saw it. If I had the choice of when bootlegs could be allowed, it would be after the show has closed, because that way you wouldn't accidentally see a whole surprise. I understand that lots of people will want to see the show when it's popular, but this show has gone through a lot, therefore I think the true fans will keep talking about it. I do agree with you and I hope you get to watch it in some way.
Yes :( it makes me sad to know that actors hate bootlegs but it’s the only way I can see Broadway musicals. I live in another country, i have no money to go to NY and even if I save enough to go who can garantee that the musical that I’n dying to see will sill be playing? I would gladly pay for a subscription to a netflix -esque platform for plays and musicals where every now and then it would release a professionally filmed musical.

I’ll be seeing this December 7th. I’m so so so excited. Even my mom, who isn’t big on musicals, is so excited. Of all the shows I’ve seen this may be the one I’m most excited to see.

I can really feel the frustration they got about bootlegs being filmed. They're absolutely right, its rude to film during a performance and it'll cost them money when bootlegs spread out over the internet.
But then, I live on the other side of the world.. its not like I'll ever see the show anyway. Plus, if I get the chance to see it, I'll definitely take it either way.
Still i kinda feel guilty though oof.
Beetlejuice is all about being strange and unusual, and i often find myself feeling strange and unusual. Singing and acting and Dancing and doing theatre makes me feel as if I belong.This show hugely impacted my life. The message I get from this show is so huge to me that words can't even explain it. This fandom gave me a place where I can go and talk to people about my struggles, and they actually understand. I'm like the only theatre kid in my school because I live in a small town and it feels like no one understands me. Here I really do feel like I'm not alone, and someone is hearing me.
