I have discovered that getting orphaned changes which companion you get at a later date! I would recommend looking them up to see the differences. Changing talents is not possible as far as I know.

There is no way to change your talents later. Once you choose what you want, your stuck with it for the pirate that you made it for. It does not really matter who you get orphaned by, unless you want a specific companion. Their all great companions.
Musketeer: Main: range; high range damage; low close combat damage; weapon type: shooty; Light armor; Witchdoctor: Main: buff your allies and summon allies; light armor( I think); healer; weapon type: spooky........ Privateer: Main: basically just a leader; heavy armor; weapon type: slashy......... Buccaneer: Main: high damage, medium defense; weapon type: smashy; heavy armor........ You pick naturally spooky for all the classes regardless. Everything else is applied as flat points while spooky is 5%. You didn’t make a mistake with that. For example if you’re a swashbuckler spooky increases the effectiveness of your poisons, heals, valor’s armor, assassins, and backstabs etc. If you picked born sneak that’s a 5+ addition to your total dodge not 5%. And swashbucklers have a LOT of dodge (but can still get hit by muskets), so it wouldn’t be necessary. So that 5+ dodge will not be noticeable since it does add anything to your stats. Many new players, (from wiz) are making this mistake. So please CHOOSE SPOOKY FOR ALL CLASSES. if you have any other questions let me know. Edit: At around 11:55 you said you’re never using spell power. But you are when you’re using your swashbuckler powers. “Bleeding” damage from your poisons and assassin’s are calculated from your spell power. So naturally spooky will increase the damage.
swashbucklers are like storm arguably the highest damage and generally low health, buccaneers are like ice highest health really tanky and they get a lot of shield like abilities, privateer is like if life and balance had a baby they got all the heals and support based abilities, witchdoctor is like if death and myth had a baby there abilities are focused around summoning a lot of undead things, they have life steal and they also have a lot of summon minions, and musketeer is basically fire really good damage and the traps that they get are kinda like the various damage over times that fire gets
Buccaneers rely on chains so you really need that accuracy up and when you charge you lower the opponent accuracy and they have reduce damage powers meant so they don't rush in and take loads of damage
I have multiple maxed out characters and have been playing for years. My main is witchdoctor. All of the classes are good (accept privateer) with buccaneers being the best. Buccaneers are easily the best class to solo level because of there high damage and health. With the right setup, buccaneers can have more damage than swashbucklers and the same health as privateers. Witchdoctors come second because of there spells being able to kill the best boss in the game with 2 buffs. Musketeers and swashbucklers are good for being able to do a lot of damage but are highly sat risk to high accuracy melee attacks. Privateer is the worst class in my opinion. The witchdoctor has better buffs and can heal others for more because of its superior spell power. Privateers also don’t have too good of companions to choose from. Privateers are the least used class in the game. In conclusion use any class besides privateers.

I include buccaneer in this, because heals are very important for every class. The reason why you wouldnt want to go born warrior, keen eyes, or born sneak, is because these are FLAT bonuses of +5, compared to naturally tough and naturally spooky. You ALSO wouldn't want to pick naturally tough because realistically you get more EFFECTIVE health with the amount you heal back that becomes boosted by naturally spooky. At max, Naturally tough is generally 100-130 health which overall is INCREDIBLY not worth it whatsoever as that is usually a FIFTH of a hit which is literally next to nothing.
DnD Terms: Swashbuckler = Rouge Buccaneer = Barbarian Privateer = Cleric Witchdoctor = Warlock Musketeer = Wizard (I know, I thought of Ranger first too. It just works better for Wizard.)

Best 2 characters first starting out is musket or swashbuckler
For buccaneer, its really easy to solo most of the battles.
