- In this video, I go through all the random and silly bits of knowledge I've gathered over the years regarding Hollow Knight. Everything from interesting bits of cut content, unreleased music, and interesting game facts are covered! I did my best to fill the video with as much stuff as possible that hasn't been extensively covered before, So, I hope you enjoy!

Another completely random fact, Sharp Shadow kills Lifeblood but does not give you any extra hearts! This has screwed me over in Pantheon of Hallownest many times!

@@elical7304 Oh I actually tried to beat P5 with only Sharp Shadow a while back, I managed to beat all 4 others but ended up dying at the final phase of Radiance and just kinda gave up then

Sharp Shadow is great for getting a little extra clearance on your dash/being able to dash straight through even large bosses, and the extra damage never hurts
@@zoebops5344I always find the inconsistent length dashes throw me off - I'm too busy looking at the boss to remember that my shade dash is going to send me flying. But that's just my own multitasking incompetence. Still, for two notches? I'll try it sometime.
So Ellina's journal is 200 geo and 32 dollars which means 200 geo is worth 32 dollars so a dollar is worth 6,25 geo

A useless fact of my own finding:
Even if you have the game audio muted, some sounds will still play! The ones that I've been able to find are the grass in dreams/godhome, and the breakable wall to the Weaver's Den (which has jumpscared me multiple times)
There's also the music in the nursery room of the White Palace
Glowing womb has exactly one area where it is actually beneficial: soul sanctum. Mages don't teleport away from your flys and theres plenty of soul flasks to refill your soul without needing to hit enemies much. Makes the area considerably less annoying
It's great to cheese Failed Champion, tho
and broken vessel
Glowing womb really helped me with a lot of boss fights
Paired with defender’s crest, glowing womb isn’t half bad
I also needed to use it to kill elder baldours in a randomiser

He also says “godseeker an honor to answer your call” if dream nailed meaning he is bowing to godseeker

In that fight the Godseeker looks at you all the fight. But if you attack Grimm before the bow, the Godseeker looks at Grimm
The godseeker isn't a god tho
3:54 im fairly sure that no all lifeblood charms accomplish this, and that its only joni's blessing that makes the life seeds attracted to the knight
New theory, zote is sleep deprived that's why he's not infected and is so grumpy, but he still has dreams, they just aren't strong enough for him to get infected.

9:34 I found this spot by accident about a month ago, some 140 hours into the game, and immediately closed it to sit in awed and horrified silence for a good several minutes.
There is one more fairly useless fact about Grimm that I think people don't realise: you can dream nail him for extra dialogue (which happens to be fairly interesting) exactly once - right after you beat him as TMG and before you talk to him. It's your only chance because every other encounter with him is treated either as a cutscene or a battle.

@@pumpkin_pants3828 he calls us a discarded Vessel and then compliments the Wyrm on his craft/the creation of us. Also says that we will be perfect for prolonging the life of the heart of Grimm but I find the usage of the word Wyrm and tying it to the creation of the Vessels more important (also calling us a discarded Vessel), and this could be the first time someone mentions the term Wyrm to a player.
I think only Bardoon, who is already super missable, and Mister Mushroom, who is... well... Mister Mushroom, ever mention the term, and then it's just a random lore tablet.
@@werisekk3 Not the heart of Grimm, the Nightmare's Heart; Grimm is the Heart's vessel.
@@abdurehmanmalik2980 In the Dream Dialogue, Grimm calls it the "heart of Grimm". I double checked.
I checked the wiki and the closest thing is NKG's Dream Dialogue "heart of Flame." It is made clear that the Nightmare's Heart is the Higher Being of the Nightmare Realm and that the Troupe's Ritual is collecting flames then sacrificing Grimm to sustain the Heart, while allowing the Grimmchild to grow to eventually restart the cycle.
Edit: Found what you were referring to, it still isn't Grimm's own Heart. Grimm isn't sacrificing Grimm to save Grimm, it doesn't make sense. And Grimm is canonically the Heart's offspring. "Grimm" here is most likely referring to the Troupe as a whole or as a concept and not Grimm himself.
9:29 this game continues to surprise me with these small secrets, that most wouldnt even know of
One interesting note is that while there are 11 Zotelings, only a handful exist in the Hunter's Journal, the ones from the Grey Prince fight. It's odd that the others aren't in there but it makes sense when they're in the Eternal Ordeal- which makes sense when some players might not go there and it would affect the Journal Achievement.
I don't see why it would affect the Hunter's Journal, a lot of entries aren't required (like the entries for all the Godhome-exclusive bosses, the entry for the Seal of Binding, or the entries for the zotelings from the Grey Prince Zote fight.

Cool stuff some of it was actually new to me, I didn't notice the kingsmoulds had 4 arms. It's a similar small detail to how soul warrior has 4 legs

I also have a few usless facts btw:
1. If you cheat all soul vessels and then bring another one together without cheats, you can have 4 vessels at once.
2. If you have Voidheart and set Kingssoul to 0 using the Debug menu, the charm becomes a bronze Dashmaster charm (wich cannot be equipped)
3. If you cheat all charm notches and then find another one on the map, you can have a maximum of 12 visible charm notches

P.S another random fact I learned recently, you can banish siblings instantly by dreamnailing them
I thought this was going to be another video full of facts I already knew but this blew all my expectations out of the water and I can tell you had fun making it :)
9:35 Actually I learnt this two days ago while playing, the Pale Lurker's geo rock though was surprising knowledge for me.
Ironically, the minute you said the fonts I added this to my "Useful" folder which doesn't have that many videos. Having a video that tells me the fonts used in the game incase I need them in the future instantly makes this one of the most useful videos on youtube to me.
Useless would have been something like "the fonts used in Hollow Knight are NOT Comic Sans and Helvetica"
You’re right, I didn’t know about that Geo rock. And now I have to jump onto my main save, just so I can break the rock. I was under the assumption I had already broken all of them, I need to keep that true.

Fun fact: kingdoms edge in its early is a part of deep nest and both the old and the new is located in the east so it makes sense for the devs to not rename something the player wouldn’t usually see anyways.
I think Zote doesn't dream tbh, which makes more sense lore-wise. Him dropping essence is just a game mechanic hold-over
I mean, the Lost Kin's ghost gives you essence, and vessels aren't supposed to dream either, so... Maybe we're misunderstanding the meaning of essence?
@@cawareyoudoin7379 it was a failed vessel. even the hollow knight itself, which was supposed to be the perfect empty vessel, had dreams.

@@commanderleo I think it's ultimately up to interpretation, but there are many things suggesting otherwise. Like Winged Nosk turning into Hornet, for example. Or the fact they can do many optional quests to help bugs, without getting any closer to their goal. Or sit with some of them when they need it. That they can do so at all suggests some kind of care and compassion. Then there's of course the potential for their ascention. They can become much more than just what they were created for- that kind of ambition doesn't seem in line with being just a vessel fulfilling its task. "Is it more than a vessel?", the White Lady herself wonders.
I found out about that first geo rock during a randomizer. I heard a grub in there but didn't know where it was, so I noclipped around until I found it. Was baffled.
Glowing womb is one of the worst? Together with Grimm child, weaver song, defender crest you can basically become a pokemon trainer and bully lost kin and fallen champion without moving (technically you need to move to hit the fallen champion once his heads pops up)
Great video! Your points about game units isn't actually that useless -- it's a great example of how game/level designers turn big empty spaces into smaller divisions and challenges. Neat!

Another kinda useless fact I found out about today and it blew my mind: with every Dreamer you encounter, the background in their dreams gets more orange. That's a small detail but it's so cool!
Small fun fact I only found yesterday even after playing HK for over 120 hours
There's a lifeblood cocoon in Greenpath right above the first Moss Knight and below the lore tablet. Fairly obvious to some but I had never found it

Kingdom's Edge being called Deepnest_East threw me off so much when I looked through my save file to find the one piece of root essence (or something else I can't remember) that I was missing.
That felt much quicker than 10 minutes

I think one of the funny useless facts never see mentioned, is enemies in the game don't have different sprites for facing different directions, they're just mirrored. So THK constantly swaps which arm is missing, Broken Vessel swaps which side the broken horn is on, etc

Pale Court is my favorite song in this game, and the idea that they're holding back a number of similarly produced songs is saddening.

9:30 there is also a spot in Deepnest below a spike floor close to a grub
Idk if this is well known, but I encountered one random glitch that is kinda fun. You can trigger it by performing cyclone slash mid air and landing during the attack just in the moment when a boss screams so Husky is immovable. If done correctly Husky just randomly floats and gets pushed backwards infinitely till the scream animation is over, which kinda looks like he is moonwalking. Tried it out against Pure Vessel, NKG and AbsRad (+if there is an edge like in NKG or AbsRad or a wall like in PV you stop there still floating, so you're not in danger of getting any random damage by falling down)

I have trypophobia. That's a weird fear of holes, but it puts a shiver down my spine. I recently had a cyst in my back removed and they had to leave the wound open so that it would heal properly. I had a hole in my back that was almost an inch deep and every day I had to stand in the mirror and clean it with alcohol, then goop an antibacterial ointment into it after showering. On top of making every inch of my skin crawl, it was extremely painful. The only thing in my life that was as horrible as that was having to fight Xero/Zote back to back in the fifth pantheon. I was determined to do it because Hollow Knight is my favorite game and I wanted to platinum it out of a kind of obligation, but knowing that I would have to do it made me dread doing that boss rush every time. I don't even mind AbsRad. It was a massive roadblock, but it was fun. Markoth/Zote is just bullshit. It's crap. I don't get why they took everyone's least favorite boss, put it at the end of the final boss rush, took away the floor and then made you fight Zote right afterwards. I don't get it. Freaking why? Why would they think that was fun? And this was after they already had a chance to get feedback from their fans, so they already knew how much we all hated Markoth. I love them for creating this game in the first place, but they might just be some sadistic bastards for that bullshit. I would play the fifth pantheon every day because 95% of it is an absolute blast, but after I finally beat it I never came back again for that specific reason. Freakin patch that shit out, team vagina i mean cherry. We'll all love you for it.

That spitting part of the video reminded me of when I save scummed in XCOM2, where one of my soldiers failed a 50% shot 14 times in a row, ironically he was a sniper class, this soldier was based off my best friend, so to this day we joke about his aim.
to be fair xcom2 has sort of fixed rng with savegames if you do the same actions every time

I love these kind of videos. Just an aside question, can someone explain to me why all content creators love to insert quick unreadable text? Is this something that forces us to rewind several times and therefore watch the video longer? Or are they all call backs to Tyler Durden?
Oh sorry about that sometimes you need to add context for something and cant be bothered to remake the whole section and sometimes it’s done as comedy! I do get that it doesn’t really land every time though especially if done a lot

I've actually used glowing womb *a lot.* It's surprisingly helpful.
And I haven't tried this yet, but I feel like heavy blow's one use would be bullying Zote.
Both are pretty useful for skips (elder baldur, broken vessel cdashless and fireballless and beasts den clawless (see fire owls clawless videos for that))
