As far as I understand the splitting of the spring and damper on the back axle is down to the suspension geometry, the rear suspension travels in more of an arc than the front, so placing the damper further forward wouldn't work. Why it travels in an arc on the rear however I'm not sure about, must be related to maintaining rear traction.

Glad you're liking the videos! I haven't had the oil in coolant issue, but it sounds like there's a seal problem somewhere. I don't know much about the engine (other than that it needs the chains changed at 300k km), but I suggest you ask on some of the forums I frequent. a5oc.com and audiworld.com. Although, to be honest, that sounds like something I'd just go to a service for, really.
I'm happy with the kit I got, that has the B8 shocks. I don't know about the B16 (pss10) coilovers. You get the added benefit of being able to adjust the height, but I didn't need that.
I think that the split on the rear helps maintain a smaller top mount footprint, increasing boot space. Maybe I'm totally wrong, which is most likely.

Did you notice a big improvement over the factory Blistien?
Less lean, firmer on the rebound, but overall ride quality is about the same. The old shocks were shot, though.
