These are world class musicians, no doubt about that. And give the Conductor a round of applause as well.

@@tobirocha I love dearly separate movements from 25 and 40, and others, but Symphony 28 and 29 are the only ones I thoroughly enjoy all movements in each symphony. ♥

A little more upbeat than some performances of this majestic work, but it's undeniably good!
Mozart's 28th, like his 29th, 30th and 31st symphonies, are all fabulous pieces of music, and are very underrated works by a composer less than 20 years old

If I'm right, a friend of mine - the violinist Iona Brown - worked with this orchestra years ago in an advisory role? We lost track of each other. It would be good to hear how she got on. NCO's a fine group.

How wonderful to be reminded of the universal appreciation of cultural precedents. We have moved very far from having any real grasp of excellence and beauty in our world today. So much relativism and yes, laziness are generally evident. Our "culture" today is besieged by an overriding concern with diversity, novelty and sensationalism. // Just to clarify my comment: I believe in cultural evolution but I firmly believe in educating people about dedication to hard work, self discipline and seeing the overarching superstructure of human civilization.

There were timpani on the stage. Why didn't they use?

Ma scusate perché tra gli strumenti non c’è il timpano ? Mozart nella partitura lo prevedeva.

Why does the second movement start so fast? Was the next gig delivering pizza 30 minutes or free? OK I see what happened, the concert mistress who might be a dude thought that he or she or whatever pronouns are used these days was the conductor, but there can be only one.

The tempo is marked Andante, by the composer, which in the Classical period suggested a moderately rapid pace, not the slow movement of the Romantic period.
Listen to some of the 1950's-early 1960's recordings of Schubert's great Ninth Symphony. Both the introduction to the First Movement (Andante) and the march-like Andante con moto 2nd movement are taken at a brisk pace; I think the composer intended that, as an expression of the overall joyous, cheerful nature of the piece.
