    The small spring loaded switch is a major culprit, it activates a magnetic diode, sort of like an FET, that switches the option menu. The spring slide to the side then the switch is stuck in down mode. My fix was just a slightly bigger diameter spring same length

After 5 to 10 mins the computer starts to register "push down" randomly that i can witness from the screen and the button itself no longer works when pushed down. Other button related functions work fine. The next day "push down" works fine again for the first 5 to 10 mins.

      I would disassemble it and inspect it, the same way you can try to resolder the pins that responsible for the particular button, also check if on the sensor piece no scratches. That would be my best guess.
      Good luck!

    • @Makhnovets
      @Makhnovets  8 місяців тому

      Hey. Thanks for the comment! Nothing that I know, but you can buy a idrive unit on ebay, or if you lucky junkyard, sometimes you’ll need to code them if you have a different modification, believe it or not, but there was a 3-5 different versions of the same idrive knob, at leas what I personally saw. But the soldering should work for good periods of time, i had no issues with my year since repairing, and it still worked, i just sold the car, so can’t say if it’s still working, but i bet it does!

    I also have this problem in my 2006 1-series. Was it only the push down function that dindt work on this knob. Or also the up/down/left/right? My knob suddently doenst want to do anything.

    • @Makhnovets
      @Makhnovets  11 місяців тому

      In this style of knobs, it's hard to say what exactly happend, there 3-4 variation of the same knob, but generally you can try the same fix and see if it help, if you simply don't have input from the knob, most likely it's toasted, some of the unit's have extra cable that connect the knob to the main board, some have servo inside, which can go bad, and some have a software problem, but software usually easy to test.
      My only had the press proble.
      Just get the used one, they around $60-100 on eBay, but make sure it's same variation of the controller, otherwise need to do coding...
      Good luck!

      @Makhnovets  Рік тому

      @@balkantvofficial2 Unfortunately you have to solder it. ACE or AutoZone has a $10-15 soldering gun kit. You need to re-heat the connection points since they have micro-cracks, that's the only fix I know. Another option is to take the board to a computer repair shop and ask them specifically to resolder the points, I don't think they will charge you more than $20. You can just spray the electric cleaner spray on the board and sensors. but it not gonna less long, or might even not gonna work at all.
