Meepo Hurricane Performance Review - Smooth, Fast, and Powerful 🔥

  • The Meepo Hurricane is Meepo's first 2-1 all terrain board with outrageous performance. The AT wheels eat bumps and are a dream to ride. Capable of speeds north of 30 mph, this board is race ready, but will it be the fastest board on the Gut? Big power, big wheels, and a huge battery all give it a chance to take the top spot. But, it will have the beat the best of the best including the Meepo AWD, Backfire Zealot, and others in order to become the King of the Gut.

    Just got back from taking my Hurricane off-road up a trail people go mountain biking with my buddy and his Onewheel and this thing was pulling me up some steep dirt roads and trails that I was so surprised about cause I’m a BIG guy, I’m 285lbs and it was having no trouble. It did slow down to about 8mph on one particular super steep spot that I completely expected it to fail at pulling me up but it stayed at 8 the whole time for about 250ft of constant grade. I’m absolutely pumped I bought this board.

      I think the Endeavor pro will be slower then this board and offcourse the S version much slower. It are the high discharge cells that gives your board the necessary power and those cells on the Endeavor have only 10amps (on 5P Total 50amps so 2*25amps to the motors), the molicel does easily 35 Amps discharge (so on 4P, 135 Amps) bottleneck is esc set at 2*35amps to the motors.
      The Hurricane is compareable at a lower output Vesc setup but still much higher then the competition! Verreal Rs/wowgo at is set at 2*15amps on 10s battery, so around 2.8times less power then the Hurricane!
      (For comparison with a high end Vesc setup --> My Trampa eMTB is set at 2*75amps so 2 times the power of the Hurricane)
      If I choose a non diy board the Hurricane is my top favorite and now at 1300 dollar a real steal 💪 (carbon deck/6.5amps fast charger/great molicel batterypack). A much better allround board then the Endeavor pro. But offcourse if your daily use are bad roads in forests then offcourse the Endeavor is the better option.

      There’s no doubt there are faster boards out there like Lacroix and others. The issue becomes setup vs rider safety. To average 30 mph means you’re probably going Mid 20s uphill and mid 30s on the flats. For a skateboard on that road, it’s getting close to the limit.

The specs on my homebrew board is insane, it would blow any meepo out of the water. I threw a 60v battery on it (72v when fully charged) with some 6378 motors, 8" pneumatic tires, and a spintend ESC. my top speed is 51mph, granted, the highest I've gotten it to is 40mph because it tends to get a little wobbly after that! Not super impressed with my hurricane. I'm 80kg and can slide/ 180 pretty consistently on skate wheels on the evolve GTR and like to full speed carve on ATs. The hurricane has now thrown me off a couple of times, luckily I wear FULL armour jacket and wrist guards. pretty annoying that NONE of the early reviews mention that the remote is basically on/ off in Level 4. and really doesn't work with gloves on. The evolve GTR remote has twice the travel and is way smoother/ more progressive. This may not be a problem for racing around a go kart track if you're lucky enough to do that, but for commuting/ cruising level 4 is sketchy! (for pure off road you'd want bigger wheels/ grippier tyres- and then the power may not feel as jerky). When doing 25-30mph on wet roads, the brakes in level 3 just lock up the AT wheels, very little modulation (but to be fair they are safer in the dry than GTR brakes that are just too weak!). Yes this tank is powerful and but it is not very useable. The GTR is to weak power for AT wheels in my opinion (unless you are a lightweight beginner) but it is way safer for commuting. Real world range: In level 3+a bit of 4 average 20+mph, i have been getting 15 miles (85kg geared up) with a couple of small hills. I should have bought the Hadean, 2kg lighter, bamboo flexi deck is better for carving and remote is way smoother plus integrated brake lights. Meepo if you are reading this: please make some remote compatible ergonomic wrist guards, many of your customers will be breaking bones.

      I totally agree. But mode 3 is very manageable and you can completely control your speed

    • @JohnPaulYT
      @JohnPaulYT  2 роки тому +2

      Possibly, the issue is the road quality is trash right now. Bouncing around at 30+ mph on 90s and DK trucks isn’t ideal…

      If you are going uphill non-stop at full throttle in mode 4 you will prob get ~15 maybe 20. But nobody is going to do that realistically. This board has a monster battery

    • @AdrianCho
      @AdrianCho 2 роки тому

      @@JohnPaulYT great review but I think it's a stretch to call a 12s4p a "monster battery." It's actually pretty average nowadays compared to most of the boards coming out. The boards with the "monster batteries" have than double or triple the capacity of the Hurricane.

    The limiting factor of the new powerful boards is not power but stability / rider skill.
    The stupid double kingpin trucks make absolutely no sense on any of them.

      @JohnPaulYT  2 роки тому +1

      This is correct. I generally dislike DK trucks, but this setup tightened down is one of the best I’ve ridden.

      TLDR- DKPs and RKPs are different styles of riding, it takes time to get used to them.
      My current daily is the onsra black carve which has DKPs and I absolutely love them. I think the style of riding with DKPs are very different compared to regular Reverse King pins. I was terrified of the DKPs at speed, but 350 miles later I am very comfortable at speeds of 28-29 Mph and things dont feel sketchy until 30-32 (which no one needs to be going any way).

      @@JohnPaulYT When It is not down for maintince it is treating me very well. Hands down one of the best I have ridden! Right now I have having issues with the threaded inserts holding the battery case in breaking. I just replaced them but they are backing out so I am going to have to do something else, still not 100% sure what I am going to do though. And I also need to buy new tires, but being a college student with a bunch of hobbies 140 bucks is a lot of money :). But other than that the board has been my go to for transportation around campus and a great ride for around my neighborhood. I am about to attempt to design independent suspension based on the propel boards and hopefully take the onsra from a semi at to a fully AT board. Once that is done Im gonna upgrade my OG meepo NLS with NLS pro parts and that will become my daily with the onsra being the board I take to my state parks to ride some trails.
      P.S. I have not dealt with ONSRA Miami, but Onsra California's customer service was something to be desired (this was about 4 or 5 months ago so it could have changed). The only thing that keeps me able to keep recommending Onsra is the fact the main branch had very good customer service!

    To me this doesn't make sense when you're using bigger sized wheels you have less torque so if you were to try do an accurate review you'd need the same sized wheels on each board...
    Try this with the street wheels?...
