That looks like that was a really fun project. Nice board! I like watching people build their terrain boards because it gives me all kinds of ideas for my own terrain projects. Thanks for sharing!
Nice one mate board looks really good and its also great that you mention mistakes and criticisms of how you've done it as it will help people to see where they can do it differently or things to avoid. Great job mate 😁👍
I think it is probably more important to share the mistakes. There are loads of videos out there where everything works... what did I bring to the conversation... things to avoid!
I don't really have space where I do my hobbying to get lights and camera so I don't often cover Hobby stuff. It is something I am hoping to be able to do more of next year.
@@ModellingforAdvantage, we have some mats from Deep Cut Studio, they are great, but the same as you Hills do not match, so I took the chance on our desert mat and done them with painting fleece. So I can buildt them as big as I wish.
I made a similar board this summer. I used particle board plywood on the bottom and I adhered 1.5 inch insulation foam on top using hard as nails. No warping. Looks good Kaiser!
Yep, I imagine that does address the warping problem - lesson learned for next time. I was hoping this way would be harder wearing and the frame would prevent bowing.
Looks nice! Definitely nicer experience than a mat. Definitely not something you can do super quickly because of the drying times. Geek gaming scenics has a lot of great videos on terrain. And luke is a stickler for speed so I feel like he has materials and methods that cuts the drying time down.
Its really neat to hear that you reffered to terrain tutor for your technique. Again, it is a lovely board, and (being a new viewer) having seen your set-up for the Normandy game, its really neat to see how simple the construction was. (Relatively at least...😁)
Thanks mate - not sure i got the pace of the video right - it feels a bit rushed looking at it now - but then again, it is already longer than I would have wanted.
Glad it was helpful! I do wonder if people tend to glue down foam boards on top to prevent the warping - it definitely warped a bit, although battoning the underside would have possibly done the same thing.
You don't need to talk to me about hobby related injurys kaiser! Sliced my finger open building terrain and did serious nerve damage to my little finger. Good advice on the apron. I may get myself a trendy fashion item myself! Lol
Great looking gaming table, thanks for sharing the construction process and your thoughts on the build 👍. Now you just beed to drive some tanks over it...
we managed to get a bit of gaming in before we hit Christmas, but we are being super careful about meeting in person at the moment - essentially not doing it - because in UK currently we are in a serious spike of the virus.
@@ModellingforAdvantage The important thing is to stay safe in these troubled times. There will be many opportunities in the (not so distant) future to fight some memorable battles on the impressive table that you built. Best wishes 👍
@@ModellingforAdvantage I never mentioned he does a better job than you. I was just saying to watch him as he's superior in ways to cut down your drying times for future builds .....
That's the plan! Not everything immediately. I think I will be starting with any scenery with bespoke scenery requirements, like in TANKS you have hills and forests of specific sizes, same for Song of Ice and Fire.
@@ModellingforAdvantage mind you, your basing is superb. I just put roll mat on mine which is now covered with TSS tiles. Your one is much better looking 👍🏻😁
@@hamsteronthepaintingtable6465 looks good when it is propped at one end so it doesn't rock! You gonna get some texture on yours? Or you just needed a flat space for your TSS gear?
@@ModellingforAdvantage to be honest at the moment its a flat surface for the Tss tiles. I would like to eventually change the 6*4 to 8*4 and make it a textured board. But as usual anytime is used painting minis 😄
Good looking board, I really like the breakdown and videos of each step :-) One question I have (speaking as someone who has been in your spare boudoir), where the hell are you going to store that thing??
He knows a lot about scenery! He did explain it, but I forgot why. Seemed like such a low effort step I would do it ignorant of the reasons and still be happy!
Thanks to Mrs. Kaiser for filming!
Definitely imprved a lot since then.
Great looking board, mate! I really enjoyed your video and am now confident that I can make a grassland board of my own. Thanks so much for sharing!
Have fun!

Really enjoying your channel. My hand hurts from watching you use that spray bottle. :P What a great result you've achieved.
Very kind of you sir! I am happy with it - well not the little bowing, but it is bearable
Loving the scenery building, more please. Looking forward to more of your channel in 2021👍👍

@@ModellingforAdvantage yes I have same problem. I need to pack away each time so I know what you mean.
Very good done and well explained. Great result in the end.
Thank you. Do you make most of your own boards? They look hand-made

You are a brave man criticising Mrs Kaiser, then dirtying the sink! Mrs Boots would be ensuring I don’t see 2021 if that had been me! Great job mate
She used that very photo to express her displeasure!
Very good video covering the process.

Very useful video, thank you.

Dapper as ever my friend! Good looking board!
Thanks Big D. Shame the blessed thing bowed a bit. Not so much as to make it unuseable, but enough to notice.
Watching you from Chile, great channel!

Awesome vid, great to see the building process like that!

A nice video guys on building a board. You might need to add battons across the middle underneath?
Yep, in future, lesson learned
Nice job brother!
Why thank you sir!
Turned out real nice.. I've want to build a board for years but never had the space unfortunately.
I don;t exactly have the space, it is in the same 'spare room' that all the other gaming and recording gear is in... a room formerly for visitors...

Nice. If I had the space for a table there would probably be one half finished in the corner.
Half finished projects are the way to go in this hobby! getting paint on my first mech!
Bird sand .... cheap (cheep) as chips and brilliant textureing
I missed that... how did I miss that? Thanks buddy
Looks really nice which flock do you have used for it?
Javis scenics fine turf, JFT1,2 and 3. You can, of course, get them form us here: www.modellingforadvantage.co.uk/category/scenery
Geek gaming is to me a far superior channel in cutting time down in making a board.

@@ModellingforAdvantage I never mentioned he does a better job than you. I was just saying to watch him as he's superior in ways to cut down your drying times for future builds .....

Nice tutorial Kaiser. I’ve battened underneath so it doesn’t bend, mind you i got my father to build it he was a joiner 😉

why not use textured paint instead
I wanted bigger lumps.
