- For nearly a century, The Seeing Eye in Morristown, N.J. has bred, raised, trained and matched guide dogs with blind and visually impaired people so that they can achieve independence and mobility. Have you ever seen one of these special guide dogs? l.nj.com/XcWEFZ

God bless . The first seeing eye dog’s name was Buddy . Buddy was a female Shepard . As a young gal we fostered pups being considered for seeing eye dogs through 4-H . My Aunt and Uncle helped start this beautiful foundation and continued to support this Amazing gift for both owner and pup . I love this ❤ Thank you ~ The Maggio Family
Actually, the first facility trained seeing eye dog was a Boxer. He was a repurposed guard dog from WWI. The trainer from Seeing Eye went to Germany to learn from them. The more you know.
@@littlebitofhope1489 thank you for providing the more to the lineage of the seeing eye dogs . My Uncle recently passed and I have a certificate of appreciation and honor with a picture of Buddy as the first seeing eye dog ( perhaps of NJ ) and the story of her journey . The organization is Magnificent even miraculous . They are a outstanding in reputation and service .
@@doreenmaggio3624 Yes, and you are very welcome. The reason they went with Shepherds is simply that they were the breed of dog she was already training. But they certainly were the first in the United States. What is generally not known is that they copyrighted their name, so only they can call a Guide Dog a Seeing Eye Dog.
@doreenmaggio3524 Where the HELL have you been!!? Six-legged robots using the same tech as self-driving autos, are set to fully replace these vile bags of crap!
