Very cool, thank you for sharing. I was one who asked on Reddit. I’ve got one bitbox, but feel limited by slots and outputs from time to time, trying to fit multiple versions of multiple parts. I’m guessing you’ve expanded to more bitboxes to over come this. I do wonder why xer mix is needed, over a less capable mixer though. Can’t you just use toggled slots on the bitboxes to achieve the same quantized muting?
The MK2 bitbox will support ~14 loops without glitching, the mk1 bitbox is maybe 3-4. In theory I could make-do with a single mk2 but I would be worried. The multiple bitboxes makes for redundancy which is important to me. I've had too many things happen live over the years. Regarding the mixer, I was using a much more simple texmix system but it was very noisy. The Xer Mixa is overkill, I agree but the sound quality is superb, the noise levels are super low, the gain is super high, and the clocked muting is awesome. You are absolutely right the bitbox launch quantization achieves the same thing as clocked mutes, however 4 of the channels of the mixer are dedicated to drums (kick/snare/hats/other) and one channel to a submix of 4 synth voices. Clocked mutes gives me more options like letting a bitbox run rather than an off+on tap to change loops if I need to transition, it just depends. It's more flexibility, not necessity.
