Speak No Evil (2024) Movie Review

- This is my official movie review and reaction of the brand new Blumhouse movie, Speak No Evil. Did you enjoy the trailer that played 100 times?
When an American family is invited to spend the weekend at the idyllic country estate of a charming British family they befriended on vacation, what begins as a dream holiday soon warps into a snarled psychological nightmare.
From Blumhouse, the producer of The Black Phone, Get Out and The Invisible Man, comes an intense suspense thriller for our modern age, starring BAFTA award-winner James McAvoy in a riveting performance as the charismatic, alpha-male estate owner whose untrammeled hospitality masks an unspeakable darkness.
Speak No Evil stars Mackenzie Davis and SAG award-winner Scoot McNairy as American couple Louise and Ben Dalton, who, along with their 11-year-old daughter Agnes, accept the weekend-holiday invitation of Paddy (McAvoy), his wife Ciara and their furtive, mute son Ant.

Better than the original because McAvoy is a BEAST! Oscar worthy performance. Never dull or boring. Fantastic film.
Best McAvoy performance between Split or X Men First Class…. Still want to see this even though I hated seeing the trailer every damn time I watched a movie
I loved this movie. It was so good. The entire ending was amazing. James McAvoy’s acting is incredible
Love how you used “AND THE NEXT DAY!” 😂 I saw The Concierge today (really enjoyed it, and will be a hidden animated gem of 2024) and I’m seeing DanDaDan First Encounter on Friday, so I won’t really be making it out to this one as it’s in theaters. I will watch it alongside the OG when it’s on streaming 👍
Split is my favourite McAvoy performance
What’s wrong with you will forever be burned into my brain from the trailer.
😂😂😂
Looks like a spiritual sequel to 'Split'.
Absolutely haha
I think that James McAvoy’s best performance is in a little-seen film called Filth (same author as Trainspotting). If you haven’t seen it and can find it, I highly recommend it. If the film had gotten a wider release in the US, I’m sure he would have gotten an Oscar nod, or at the very least he would have been in the Oscar conversation.
It's kind of funny because James Watkins' *Eden Lake* definitely inspired the original director while making *Speak No Evil*, and now James Watkins is the one directing the remake. Hahaha. FULL CIRCLE MOMENT
I love that until the other shoe drops, the worst we get suggests maybe there is an abuse situation, but not necessarily dangerous to them.
The movie was awesome 😊 I was so catatonic when I saw the 2022 movie
Favourite McAvoy performance is either Split of DOFP
Loved it. You have to do a review of the original when you watch it! Dying to hear your reaction to the differences.
You are so right about the ''...something that reels them back in'' This is the 'plot point' that makes it so, so 'creepy?!' 😅Seeing how the 'killer' is always 'swerving' and dodging, just enough baiting to hook his victims...and that's just from watching those trailers 😉☺
I seem to be the only one who’s only seen the trailer once😅 I guess the trailer selection is better in my country
I only saw it on UA-cam
I see on average 1.5 movies a week at my local AMC. I can confirm that 50 times feels right, if not literally so.
@@tomleonard830 kinda same, I’ve been to the cinema ~45 times this year so far (festival excluded), and I saw the trailer exactly once. Guess I got lucky.
Edit: I did see the Borderlands trailer way too many times though. I was seeing it regularly from like March, before every action/sci-fi movie.
Is this on streaming or just theatres for now?
Just theatres
Its fascinating to see that they made it very hollywood while the original is such a disturbing ride that took me 2 days to finish
Loved the original, seeing this one tonight!
Man this movie was so great ! Yeah trailers after every damn movie was crazy but still enjoyed it
The original stayed with me for months. Dark.
As someone who has seen both and saw the original before i saw the remake, i would personally say the original was more impactful but the remake had the overall better viewing experience.
Spoiler:
I called them cutting out Ants tongue but the reveal being in the trailer is definitely disappointing.
I bet new memes from this movie 😂 can't wait to watch the trailer are amazing
I was so disappointed, definitely not a horror as advertised. Loved James tho
Abagail was another trailer that played time and time again.m
I thought it was great mate
I wonder why you haven’t seen The GOAT yet, despite reacting to the Trailer.
Watch Indian film Vash
I'm sure you'll be impressed
Of course I’m a bloody docter
I hated the original, but after watching this version, I like the original more. I am sorry the ending was a slap in the face to the point of the original film. It was a wussy ending for the American audience.
The og one is one of favorites of all time but i cant rewatch it, too f..ed up
Was planning on taking my family to see this, just is curious is there any overly sexual scene that would be awkward to sit through lol?
Yes. Hopefully this reply isn’t too late to save you from taking the whole family. The scene is in a restaurant and they don’t show anything, but it drags on to make you feel uncomfortable.
The original one had infuriating characters that are dumb/cowards. That is why they ended up in that situation, trying so hard to be politically correct, trying so hard to not incommode some strangers. Allegory is my least favorite resource, specially a social one. A remake nobody asked for, from an OK flick that is not that old.
