Huge fan of Fluance. I run an Rt 82. Run it through a Darlington labs MM 6 B phono amp with a VM 95 Series At cart. Sounds fantastic. Though I could see buying something like this for one of my children.
So it’s not an issue that this model doesn’t have an anti-skid? Also, what is your opinion on replacing the slip mat? What’s the thickness of the mat for such model?
hey man , thanks for exposing the nitty gritties of this one. Any suggestions for people who like to upgrade the shit out of a device ? something that is really good at stock and then with upgrades .... sky is the limit.
Loaded question, we all hear differently and it really matters what you think. That being said I find noteworthy differences among needles and different levels of separation with different needles on my same setup. If you think you may want a different needle but like these features check out the LP3 by Audiotechnica - I would say decent preamp can go a long ways to cleaning up and modifying audio also!
I know this is an older post, but I want to confirm that the built in pre amp will allow me to play through an older Onkyo receiver that does not have a phono input. It does have two available line inputs, tape and cd that I can connect to. Or, will I need to buy an external pre amp?
what are the active/power speakers that you are using in this video? i bought the Audio Technica LP60X Turntable but i think i got the wrong speakers for it, and i don’t know which speakers are the right speakers to buy.
So just sharing my experience: Bought this table two years ago but suddenly a day ago the audio just stopped working correctly. I assumed it was the needle needing a replacement but replaced it with two different needles and neither worked well. My feeling is that it's something else in the cartridge head that's broken but since this TT does not have a detachable cartridge I have no way of validating. The machine is out of warranty so I'm gonna go try to see if I can find someone to fix it here locally. If I could do over I would definitely buy a fully manual machine and with a detachable cartridge head. Looking for alternatives incase I can't repair (or repair is not worth the expense) and I'm leaning more towards something like the Lp120. In general I'm avoiding any machines that have key non-replaceable parts or cables in the future, and as a hunch I'd stay away from automatic stylus movements as I feel the odds of those malfunctioning at some point must be a lot higher than the manual ones.
If you’re looking for recommendations I love Fluance. They make some awesome tables, can swap out headshells and carts easy-peasy, auto stop near the center. Great turn tables. Bummer about lp60!
@@EightSixMatt It was great while it worked. In its defense I've scowered forums and it doesn't seem to be a common issue, so seems I was just unlucky. I've seen different Fluance tables readily available here in Mexico (Amazon) so I've had them in my radar. I think I'm still looking at the budget range, so it would be either the RT80 or 81, though the 85 is also available, and if you tell me it's a huge difference I might consider splurging on it.
@@gamble777888 I got the 82, that’s the lower priced higher end variant. It lets you figure out preamps and how you want to run/color your sound via phono, it’s been a fun thing for me. The 82 has been my favorite to own, and I own a few 😅
@@EightSixMatt Thanks for sharing that. I haven't seen the 82 available but I'll look for it. If I hook my table up to my home theater receiver do I still need a preamp? Searching on google it seems receivers wouldn't need one, but I wonder if it's still advisable.
Do you mean you are only getting audio from the left or right channel as in one speaker - or that it's playback is mono with no L/R fade where you know L/R fade should exist? If it's the first, check the speaker connections first, if through a receiver check if you have an A/B or L/R setting and try those. And the obvious is the "is the vinyl you are playing stereo or mono?" question If Azimuth is off, with this turntable I would say start with trying a replacement stylus for the 3600l, if its still off, and its none of the above it may need service.
@@EightSixMatt When I play a stereo record it plays through all speakers with no L/R fade. I will check out your other suggestions. Thanks for the help!
I just bought this as my first turntable and im running into an issue. It seems that the arm doesnt go all the way to the end of a 12" record. When it gets far enough in there is some counteracting force that keeps it moving from forward and the record starts skipping. I cant really find any posts online about this issue and id appreciate one, as I would rather not return/replace this if it isnt necessary.
Ah, I did too, couldn't find anything that worked so I bought a 1x6 cut and stained it and affixed printer stand legs to it. Most printer stands didnt offer the surface area I needed - so it's a DIY stand affixed to printer stand legs :)
Hey! Thanks for the video but I’m not sure about something, what else do I need to use it? Do I only need speakers or something else as well? I would really appreciate if someone can clarify this.
You can "upgrade" the preamp, mat, and stylus no problem. I wouldn't say its completely non-upgradeable. The new ATN3600LE stylus snaps right on there.
I am a fan of the Bestisan SR02s for price and ease of use + good sound. There are a few options with a little more to offer also - Edifier has some good active speakers for a decent price also (was just talking to someone the other day about them)
Thank you for this. Question. You showed the red and yellow stylus. Are those compatible upgrades? I love my turntable but I started doing lives on TT where I’m spinning about 40 hours a week. I’ve had no problems thus far but should/can I just change the cartridge or do you think it would be beneficial to upgrade to one of those other needles. Also any other accessory necessities would be appreciated as well. I’ve seen some spaces saying to get a ceramic top instead of the mat it comes with but seems divided whether it actually helps with static or just more asthetically pleasing. Any advice I woulf greatly appreciate
If it had mp3 capability (connect with computer to digitize records) I more than likely would have bought this instead of the Sony I bought. A number of things irritate me about the Sony. Not a bad turntable overall but I could have gotten much better for close to the same price or bought the AT for less money.
Well, it might be too little too late, built in is a fun perk but there are audio capture card devices like this out there :) amzn.to/3XFSFIp (thats my short commission link the long ones irritate me sorry)
I don't understand the whole adjustment thing. Does a fully automatic turntable automatically do it as well or better? Or is it better to have a turntable where you can adjust the tonearm and needle manually? Can you compare it to driving automatic cars and shift cars?
On an automatic you set the record on, press start and it does the rest - raises the tone arm, finds the edge, plays the side, returns the tone arm and waits for you to flip or hit start again. On a manual you lift the arm, find the edge you lower the arm, when it plays to the center (depending on your tt) it keeps spinning waiting for you - or shuts off waiting for you to come retrieve the tone arm and return it to its cradle. Is that what you’re asking? You can also lift the arm and pick a song, anti skating can be set, but changing the cart on this turntable is not possible. Sorry if I’m not following what you’re asking.
@@EightSixMatt I am new to the whole topic and kind of overwhelmed sorry - So I saw a lot of players that had the two little screws on top of the cartridge with which you adjust the needle. Now I am wondering if it just isn't necessary with this specific player because it is automatic or if it is something that only "good players" have.
@@waschkadse ahh that type of adjustment is fine tuning-esque. On this one it’s a non option. If you install a new cartridge on a turntable accounting for azimuth is what you may need to do. When the needle sits in the groove, if it’s off, one of your channels may have distortion/poor sound/terrible sound. You can adjust the cartridge and use a mirror or special protector to ensure the stylus is sitting straight/correctly so that it rides the grooves well as the vinyl spins. Unless you plan on buying a tt with the abilities to swap a cart, and you spend the money on a new cart to swap, this will be a non issue for you most likely. Even if you do, it’s not a difficult task and most headshells are easy enough to setup (with mild patience)
@@waschkadse For sure, my only advice is watch out for toxic folk in the vinyl community. There is no shortage of them! Whatever makes you happy is all that matters :)
This is a nice turntable for beginners but I noticed it is sound weaker than the cd player and both of them connected to same amplifier! Any suggestions
You could try a different pre-amp. Easier said than done. Most don't have spare pre-amps laying around. The other question is, is the cd out put too high and would overload the input and drive to clipping with the volume control only half way. One of my systems I use a small line pre amp to lift a cd player to give full output.
Hey I know you personally recommend the Bestisan SR02 as active speaker to go with this record player, but they don't sell them in my country and I would need to get them imported. What would be your second recommendation for active speakers?
'good sound' is subjective. I like the Bestisan SR02s for low price active speakers - There are also some Singingwood speakers that are pretty nice. They are considerably affordable. Can I speak to if you will like them? No, but I like them for their price to performance.
Sorry for my delay and I am sure you have figured it out by now - Yes you will need speakers. Easiest to pair with this one are some decent active speakers - Bestisan if they still make the SR02s are my favorite for the price.
Sorry for my delay! The active speakers I recommend are the Bestisan SR02s. Their popularity as it grows has brought the price up some but still within reason. Heres an affiliate link from me amzn.to/3TofaAF but if you don't like using those just search Bestisan SR02s and you should be able to find them.
Hi, I have the same turn table and for the receiver I purchased the Sony STR-DH190 and I have passive sony speakers. Now when I play the turntable it sounds really bad, it sounds low and just not good I was wondering why that is?
how is the audio quality? I got a ION with the red head, i want an audiotechnica and i want to know if there is a massive difference in audio between the 60 and the 120
Weird question, I just bought the bluetooth version of this and it's great, but I can't find a power button! I'm just unplugging and replugging. Does it have a power button?
@badboy1971 Just as the other person said, it's always on with a standby mode. Unplugging is the way. There are things like this that may help (affiliate link because its shorter mainly :D) amzn.to/4a7ngmQ
On the Bluetooth version will it work with an Amazon Alexa echo dot as a Bluetooth speaker (will be using temporarily before I get some better Bluetooth speakers)
It's a pretty basic consumer turntable - hopefully someone else can offer you better input, but wouldn't the preference be a table with direct drive and something like a concorde be the preference for using it to do that? Unless I am not understanding your question. Sorry for my delay :).
Would this turntable paired with the Edifier R1280T speakers be good? Im just starting out and i don't know anything about anything to do with turntables. I'm going to be using it for mostly hip-hop albums though.
Thankyou so much for this video, I’m wanting to get into turntables and record playing for a while now but I was scared because I know nothing at all! After watching hundreds of videos and getting very confused and almost giving up I found your video and it helped reassure me and explain things to me straight forward and more simple. Thanks so much dude! 🩷
Hi, needed advice on whether I should get this or LP60XBT: I prefer to listen to records on my headphones (edifier stax spirit s3); is the sound quality better when listening on headphones with AUX than Bluetooth?
Hi! I hope you already found your answer but if not something important to note is that if listening through AUX you will need some kind of amplifier or headphone preamp to listen. If you get the wireless version you can listen with only the turntable and BT headphones. Hope this helps!
I went to my favourite record store I asked the guy about there turntables this was their beginner model so yeah not the best but probably better quality than my crospy
1:22 Those styli need different weights so they won't work 100% and they could damage your vinyl!! For example, AT91 (the yellow one) needs about 2.5 grams but AT3600L needs 3.5 grams. That's quite a difference.
It does not need 3.5 grams nor is it weighted at 3.5 grams on the lp60x in this video. Gf scale measures it at 2.5 which is in the recommended range of the 91, as well as the 3600, it’s doable and fine. (There was an issue with the spring - as well as different mats increasing measurements by adding lift resistance)
@@_f0lkl0re I did not, the one in this video is not BT - Bestisan SR02 speakers are (in my opinion) good for the low price active speakers to pair with it.
Speakers, or 3.5 plug adapter. If using loudspeakers, use a separate platform, or 1 shelf desk layer apart. Stickers!!! because they look silly :3 Record cleaning set, because of dust and all that. and tiny flathead screw driver (if you are a perfectionist)
That's a good question and a bit subjective. the STRDH190 processes phono, and does 'well enough,' but I ran it to my Fosi which I liked better (and while not an actual tube amp, the tubes add a different color to the sound) - ultimately I would say it really depends (but is largely negligible differences that will be based off your phono preamp device). For a TT like this one - active line level stuff is more the target, with my Fluance or UTurn I run them through different Preamps that (to me) have a different 'feel.' Long story longer: if you ask me, for a 3600l cart on a largely entry level tt, some active line level speakers are where its at. Sound can be so subjective though and its hard to answer with definitive opinions. Sorry if that doesn't help much.
If Bestisan still has some for a good price those are what i would recommend. The SR02s are pretty decent and often affordable but their popularity may have driven the price up.
The best option is always trial and error, find what you like and don't like, and maybe ask the store if you can rent some speakers to test out.@@svenvdv2880

No, based on other peoples more recent comments - it sounds like people in the community are just trolling. the LP60s are good entry level by a very professional long standing audio company. If you encounter issues AT has always been top game for problems.
If you have bass heavy techno albums they can skip. My dp homework lp skips on this turntable, you can upgrade the cartridge to an LP Gear cartridge and will sound better, followed by acrylic platter mat

That being said, I’ve always contemplated of getting myself an at lp 60 as well - the sheer value for money is through the roof and sometimes it would be nice to just put on a record and fall asleep on the couch without the fear of ruining my records or the stylus on my technics that cost more than the lp 60. Anyone looking to get their first turntable should look no further.
Just got one for sampling with my EP-133 KO II. Fixed cart is all I needed.

What speakers do you recommend that won't break the bank?
Huge fan of Fluance. I run an Rt 82. Run it through a Darlington labs MM 6 B phono amp with a VM 95 Series At cart. Sounds fantastic. Though I could see buying something like this for one of my children.
So it’s not an issue that this model doesn’t have an anti-skid? Also, what is your opinion on replacing the slip mat? What’s the thickness of the mat for such model?
Nice sound this turntable has... amazing...
Thank you for the review.
I just have one question before buying it, can I plug my headphones into it or no? Because I’m not seeing a headphone jack.
Pretty sure you can connect it to the back connection since its aux out
@@ghostwavy2030Ooooh yeah now I see it thank you
Do you know if this connects via bluetooth to my LG Soundbar? Thanks!
The one in this video is the no Bluetooth one. There is a Bluetooth variant that should be able to pair to most BT speakers.
@@EightSixMatt Thanks! I appreciate the reply
If I buy this turntable and some speakers and only that, would that be ok? since the turn table has a built in pre amp.
Yes but you’ll need active/powered speakers.
hey man , thanks for exposing the nitty gritties of this one. Any suggestions for people who like to upgrade the shit out of a device ? something that is really good at stock and then with upgrades .... sky is the limit.
Oh, Fluance for sure in my book hits that mark, detachable headshells, platter options, easy to use.
If a plug this turntable with a Marshall stanmore II is gonna sound good? The one I own doesn’t, produce? The bass?
Loaded question, we all hear differently and it really matters what you think. That being said I find noteworthy differences among needles and different levels of separation with different needles on my same setup. If you think you may want a different needle but like these features check out the LP3 by Audiotechnica - I would say decent preamp can go a long ways to cleaning up and modifying audio also!
I know this is an older post, but I want to confirm that the built in pre amp will allow me to play through an older Onkyo receiver that does not have a phono input. It does have two available line inputs, tape and cd that I can connect to. Or, will I need to buy an external pre amp?
i have one of these , it now makes a "clicking" sound all the time, makes it even if you don't have a record on it, not sure how to stop the clicking
A very helpfull video! Many thanks!!!
what are the active/power speakers that you are using in this video? i bought the Audio Technica LP60X Turntable but i think i got the wrong speakers for it, and i don’t know which speakers are the right speakers to buy.
My speakers in this video are Bestisan SR02 speakers.
Great entry level turntable. I hooked it into my home system and it sounds great! BUT the records play in monaural not stereo!!! Any help?
Whats that rack where you have the turntable over the amplifier? Have a link? Thats exactly what I need.
You need active speakers along with the turntable at least, If you want to upgrade later on, buy a preamp.
@@kinsmarts2217 Thank you so much man!
@@nickfunkero8856good speakers are the r1280t
You can "upgrade" the preamp, mat, and stylus no problem. I wouldn't say its completely non-upgradeable. The new ATN3600LE stylus snaps right on there.
Which speakers would you recommend with this turntable?
I am a fan of the Bestisan SR02s for price and ease of use + good sound. There are a few options with a little more to offer also - Edifier has some good active speakers for a decent price also (was just talking to someone the other day about them)
What is the model number of the Fluance you showed at the end?
Sorry for my delay :) that's the RT82
Idk If it's just me but the active speakers sound clearer than the other speakers. Also what speakers do you use?
My passives are starfavor, the actives are bestisan
Does it have built-in speakers?
If it had mp3 capability (connect with computer to digitize records) I more than likely would have bought this instead of the Sony I bought. A number of things irritate me about the Sony. Not a bad turntable overall but I could have gotten much better for close to the same price or bought the AT for less money.
Well, it might be too little too late, built in is a fun perk but there are audio capture card devices like this out there :) amzn.to/3XFSFIp (thats my short commission link the long ones irritate me sorry)
There is a version with USB capabilities called LP60XUSB, it's only 130€ in EU.
@@EightSixMatt thanks! looks good!
Hello,
Can this one connect to an external speaker?
Well, AT released 3600LE cartridge with elliptical stylus, so no need to tinker or DIY
Thanks for the review!
My audiobar supports AUX, will it work with the Analog output of the turntable?
If you have a line level speaker you can use the 3.5mm out from the table to the line level input on the speaker. 😊
@@EightSixMatt Thank you very much for your explanation!
@@waschkadse For sure, my only advice is watch out for toxic folk in the vinyl community. There is no shortage of them! Whatever makes you happy is all that matters :)
Hi, we have the AT-LP60XHP. Do you know if it's compatible with Klipsch R-40PM speakers?
This is a nice turntable for beginners but I noticed it is sound weaker than the cd player and both of them connected to same amplifier! Any suggestions
You could try a different pre-amp.
Easier said than done. Most don't have spare pre-amps laying around.
The other question is, is the cd out put too high and would overload the input and drive to clipping with the volume control only half way.
One of my systems I use a small line pre amp to lift a cd player to give full output.
hi!
If I wanted to use this turntable without buying an amplifier, what speakers would I need to get?
Hey I know you personally recommend the Bestisan SR02 as active speaker to go with this record player, but they don't sell them in my country and I would need to get them imported.
What would be your second recommendation for active speakers?
Check and see if you can get Edifier R1280T bookshelf speakers. Those are pretty enjoyable active shelf speakers also.
Second note if you don’t want monitors with a more neutral flat the 1700bt or 1280db
Thanks for the recommendation, been using the edifers with the lp60x. It's as beautiful combination
@BboyTechie I also bought edifier o
What are some cheap speakers (with good sound) I can get to use this with?
'good sound' is subjective. I like the Bestisan SR02s for low price active speakers - There are also some Singingwood speakers that are pretty nice. They are considerably affordable. Can I speak to if you will like them? No, but I like them for their price to performance.
Take a look at the Kanto lineup. The YU4/6 would probably suit you well.
Excuse me but i rally dont understad if the turntable can make sound or if it is required to have speakers ti listen to music
Hi. Can this play 10” records? I can only see the option 7” and 12” on the record. Sorry if this is a dumb question.
Would this be a good upgrade over the crossly, I just want something that can make my records sound the best they can be, I’m not an audiophile.
I personally believe it to be a definite upgrade over most Victrola and Crosley players.
i hope i wont sound stupid, but its my first experience with turnables- do i need speakers to play music? will i be able to do it without them?
Sorry for my delay and I am sure you have figured it out by now - Yes you will need speakers. Easiest to pair with this one are some decent active speakers - Bestisan if they still make the SR02s are my favorite for the price.
Reccomendations for a reciever to pair with lp60x???
LP60X or LP60XBT?
Any. But entry level I'd say Yamaha R-S202, and Sony STR-DH190. I owned this table and it's ok. I gotta say a Fluance RT-81 makes a lot more sense.
Can you say something about whether the record player has strong vapors? In other words: Does it smell very chemical?
Not that I had noticed, but I didn't go sniffing to be honest. =\ sorry!
hi, could you send me a link for your speakers, i dont know which ones to buy :)

@@EightSixMatt Oh, then it's all good!

@@frenchperformer5401 thanks!!!
Is it better with external phono?
What speakers are good for this turntable that use the built in pre amp and are 40-50 or cheaper?
If Bestisan still has some for a good price those are what i would recommend. The SR02s are pretty decent and often affordable but their popularity may have driven the price up.

You can not use the auto feature for 10", you can manual it. It does have a toggle for EP and LP though.

I have had this player for over 3 years i wouldn't consider my self an audophile but i have had several turntables over last 15 years and well over 1000 lps. I think there's really not much to complain about simple and does way better almost feel like you're using a higher end set up. I havent messed with tracking force much how would you best do that?
Tracking settings are set at the factory level with this one. the LP3 model is one that allows for adjustments (and is also automatic like this one).
Thank you
How’s the needle? Will it scratch my records?
No, based on other peoples more recent comments - it sounds like people in the community are just trolling. the LP60s are good entry level by a very professional long standing audio company. If you encounter issues AT has always been top game for problems.
Does it have a headphone jack?!
does it need speakers to work?
how do you suppose you hear music without speakers
so if i don’t have external speakers i can’t play it?
Right, it needs speakers to be heard (or headphones if thats your cup of tea)
What if i dont have speakers or a phono?
I don't know how to answer this well without sounding like a smart ass. Without speakers - you won't hear anything.
Ok do you need speakers for it ? I'm confused
Yes it does not have built in speakers
