I will say. I didn’t really look outside GM trucks. My notebook was extensive but mainly Chevy and gmc trucks and what specific packages to get or to look for. lol.
Hell yea i just bought my first truck a 2024 gmc sierra 1500 elavation about a month ago which has the x31 package and volcanic red and i gotta admit its worth every penny, i love this truck and plan on keeping it for awhile
Yeah its definitely on my list. I wana do some towing before changing the whole truck. Ive been told to swap the shocks as well. the X31 pack shocks aren't the best for towing. All in due time. These trucks and packages are so hard to fine "the right truck" for everything lol. What air bags did you get?
I bought my first truck and it's an EV. SEV RST Air suspension and rear wheel steering and mid-gate for a usable 10 foot 10 inch bed. So at 1 gal of gas equal to 33 KWh I get 65 MPG for a truck that GVWR comes in at 4 1/2 tons. My range is the same as yours. The SEV tow capacity is 10.5k. I only had duramax in mind when I started shopping, and realized the operating cost of the SEV compared to the diesel made more sense. The drive-ability sealed the deal. GM's EV must be driven to fully understand what an electrified power-train can do and what a diesel power-train cannot do. The diesel just kept coming up short the more I looked into it. I am not looking back.
I did look at one of those as a DD. a hummer also!! lol. But when it came to towing. I wouldnt be able to get to nebraska on one charge from wisconsin. For me right now an EV just doesn't make sense. I would love to drive one though!
@@MLeeder53 When it comes to towing the GMC Elevation trim can not make it on one tank from nebraska to wisconsin. I think you are thinking about charger anxiety compared to gas pump convenience, I have not seen the anxiety come up on any multi-state trips this year. On both GMC pick up truck versions you still check the tire pressure and wind shield washer level before you start the trip, but that is all that is in common. I do understand "it does not make sense", it did not make sense to me 8 months ago.
@@MLeeder53 Just for informational purposes I-80 alone between Joliet, IL and Ogallala, NE has 20 DC fast chargers on that 768 mile slice of interstate.
Very informative, thank you! I am looking at trucks right now to tow my Camaro, too so this is perfect timing!

Can’t wait for my free ice cream…
hahahah :p
FYI I put air bags on my Silverado for towing, and it’s helped quite a bit with keeping it level and riding well when loaded. I’d call it a must have.

@ Air Lifter 5000 Ultimate, I have a trail boss, so not ideal, but I’ve towed my 1LE in an 24’ steel enclosed trailer just fine.

@@kelviskelvis7140 Oh for sure the truck wont make it on one tank but on I80 diesel is everywhere. Something to keep an eye on though.
