  • The automobile has killed an enormous amount of people in the last 120 years. How does that compare to the current coronavirus pandemic?

    Would be cool if you also touched on the topic of SUVs and trucks getting more popular. People feel safer in larger cars but this is counter-intuitive, since larger cars have worse maneuverability, stopping power which in turn increases car crashes, as well as pedestrian deaths, which are on the rise. And also, these big trucks also have much higher fuel consumption, leading to even more pollution.

      Yes, the rate of pedestrian deaths in the US has been increasing because of the rise of the SUV. Instead of getting your legs hit, your upper body gets hit more from an SUV. It's a cycle, people don't feel safe so they buy things that make others less safe.
