    Great video! Just made me a subscriber. I have a 2014 S550 and it has the little screen filter under the cab in the housing. Can you believe the local dealership tech told me not to change my hydraulic oil? Today the machine shut off because it said 'hydraulic oil extreme high temp' I think it has lost/decreased its viscosity. Changing it, the filters and cleaning the coolers. Has 2200 hours. Thanks for being thorough and easy to understand.

    I was exposed to the concept of cavitation with my 7.3 Ford diesel and thought my leg was being pulled but it was explained to me that improper. Antifreeze allowed ait bubbles to form and the diesel caused a vibration that smashed the bubbles against the cylinder walls and unchecked, ruined the engine. I put in a long life antifreeze that is supposed to stop that. 200,000 miles later I,m still good. John

      Just start the engine and run it thru all the controls several times, lift all the way up and down, tilt all the way up and down and drive it a little and it will bleed itself out. If the oil is foamy it will clear up after sitting a little while.

    Ok, I had it brought to my attention if you use two hoses on the axillary ports both the in and out. Set an empty 5 gal, (out), and a full bucket of new hydraulic oil fluid (in), you can completely flush out the old fluid? Has any one done this? Will it overflow the reservoir? Sounds like a real trick if it works? When would you change out the filters? Before or after? Would like some input on this method? I just did the discharge part of this as you showed. Looks like I got somewhere around 2 1/2 -3 gal out from this out port (top one). I’m doing this on a T450 Bobcat. Believe the complete system is around 5 1/2 gals. So I still have quite a bit old fluid left in the machine? Also, another thought would be keep adding new fluid to the reservoir till clean fluid flows out this out axillary port?

    • @johnphillips8088
      @johnphillips8088 7 місяців тому

      Ok, I just did the latter, I added fluid to the reservoir as I expelled the fluid out the top port. It cleaned out all the milky brown stuff that just started the first time when it started to bubble out. I ran the rest of the 5 gal bucket of the new fluid into the reservoir. The fluid coming out was not perfectly clear, but looked pretty good.👍🏼 😊

  • @justatool
    @justatool 2 роки тому

    The fluid started coming out clear and then turned milky at the end, What do you think was the reason?

    I'm curious on how draining and replacing only 3-4 gallons of the (in my case T590) 9.5 gallon capacity does any good? How can one drain the entire system? Would you continually feed fluid into the reservoir while pumping out the aux hydraulic until you have pushed through 9.5 or so gallons?

    I noticed you used filter pliers on one filter and a metal strap wrench on the another. I have a pair of the same pliers you used. I found they work much better than the strap or any other type of filter wrench. They work so good I don't even use any of the other types I have anymore. Pliers have worked in every situation and on every type of spin-on filter I've come across. When the filter is too tight the strap wrenches just slid around the filter. Pliers grip every time. Is there a reason you used the strap wrench on the last filter instead of the pliers? Hoping to learn something here. Thanks.

    • @tetradgroup
      @tetradgroup  Рік тому

      Great question, I also like the pliers but there is not enough room for pliers to remove the fan filter, due to limited space the band filter works better in that situation.

    I've done my 500 hr service on my 2018 T770. That was fun and interesting. But this machine had some iffy emissions components, so they sent out a Tech to change them out. We got to talking, and he said this machine doesn't like to give up all its hydraulic fluid when pumping. Would your hose technique on the Aux hydraulic line work on this machine too? If so, I'd love to pass this on tho my Techs up here in Idaho. Thanks!!!

    • @tetradgroup
      @tetradgroup  2 роки тому +1

      Yes that would work on the T770, you get about 20% more oil than pumping the tank but like I said in the video, not everyone agrees with this method because they think the pump will cavitate. I may know the Idaho guys, we just purchased most of the dealers up there, they are now part of our dealer network.

    • @andrewgable7273
      @andrewgable7273 2 роки тому

      @@tetradgroup Cavitate, shmavitate. Even if it does, its not like you're running that pump all day long, like that. Just long enough to change out the old fluid. I would be very surprised if cavitating a pump for such a short period of time would kill a pump, I would bet the pump was suspect in the first place. Thanks!!! Stay safe, and keep the vids rolling!!!
