Within view of this place they have 700k condos/apartments (by the ball). Coffee shop at Grainary closed, Bounday Bay closing, K pop closing, Backcountry Essentials moving out of main downtown, Boardworks will be closing. Need more pressure on the city to do something about the crime and drugs.
Aldo thanks for the video, what is the City doing to reduce the zombie apocalypses from the massively increasing drug and homeless problem's? Many longer term residents are looking to leave as businesses shut down in town and people fell unsafe and actually avoid going down town now at the end of 2023. Bike theft is rampant, as are most property crimes in Bellingham for readers and viewers of this channel wanting to move there. Feel free to consult any crime index websites you choose to fact check me. Happy new year all.!!!!!!!!
lol zompie apocalypse? I think you are a bit over dramatic on that! I agree with you on what you have said, that doesnt make Bellingham unliveable! There is one small spot in the entire county that is bad, and people freak out and think we live in the deadliest part of the world lol. Unless you are moving from a town where the population is 500, then yes it may seem unsafe.
To the original poster’s question of “what is the city gonna do to fix this?”, I’d say there’s some small reason for hope. First thing, we voted in a new mayor whose whole campaign was based on fixing the downtown. Secondly, and this was in the video, a whole new class of wealthier people continue to move here(not sure?, think about how many Teslas you’ve noticed lately). I believe an unavoidable consequence of that is that these folks won’t put up with the same level of shenanigans as Bellinghammers traditionally have. You think the folks that just paid 2 million bucks for a downtown condo are gonna be ok with the zombie issue? Lastly, it seems that our police dept has addressed some of their staffing shortages. I’ve actually seen real officers on foot patrol downtown. Again, the zombie issue is a real problem, but there a small shred of hope.
OG question person thingy... My family has their name on buildings downtown and I grew up and had children in Bellingham, I tried to help, but honestly the best thing to do is leave. Sounds weird and mean, but like... The state is kind of a husk of it's former self. It's a service town and nobody can afford the chicken wings. Wisconsin is nice, I'm in Vermont and so far I love it. Good luck, also, it's not zombies, they are just homeless people. I used to make 50 care sacks each year out of my own money for 12 years. They are humans, just with the cost of living being so bad, they can't afford comfort and when you have zero security you will lash out and harm yourself and others. Head east, more money, better land, you can help people out here and it usually ends well. I have been out here for 3 years now and I haven't been mugged once, or roofied, it's awesome.

This is the first thing that came to mind for me as well. Me thinks this is way overly optimistic.

Next big thing was ruining Holly Street. Anybody actually seen a bike on Holly? I haven't.
@@kurtdunbar912 😂😂 okay yes 1000% agree! That’s caused much more harm, and I feel like I see 1 bike ride that street a day!
Why not convert it to a grainery and provide employment. 😊
Keep the park, but bring back jobs ❤
