Thinking about building this kit, but I am confused with the dowel that joins the neck to the soundbox. Why is it drilled so that it can move, especially since the wood is shaped to match up with it when sanding.?
Our curved shoulder joint allows for the some movement when the harp is brought up to tension. This is why you want the dowel to have room to move from front to back but not side to side.
