Thank you for the informative video. Passed my cat c before christmas got the final mod 4 nextweek then hopefully get out on the road so glad i watched this video👍🏻
I get the impression that the new rules were written by a pen pusher who rides their bicycle to work without discussing the practicalities with someone who drives for a living.
No problem, I think it is very poorly thought out and will certainly cause confusion, I agree a dash cam is essential to protect yourself, it also leaves the door wide open for the insurance scammers. thanks for the comment 👍
@@BritishTrucking .... who only knows inner city London traffic! They expect pedestrians to now use telepathy to communicate their intention to cross to drivers! I thought they invented the traffic light to communicate to the traffic to stop. I can think off the top of my head a handful of junctions that come off busy roads in my area in which this could easily be fatal! It’s supposed to be... give way to the most dangerous thing to allow it to pass and in an ideal world or in the very best traffic system... traffic and pedestrians should never have to meet. Whoever wrote this new rule is utterly backward! They need to revert it and they do a serious campaign to the public, otherwise there will certainly be deaths. I have been making animations to demonstrate how ridiculous this is!
It is total madness Steve, and if you stop to let them cross they probably won't because its in their mindset that they shouldn't, it is going to cause so many problems on the roads.
Two rules ensuring HGV vehicles go at a horses or cyclists pace. The pairing up of the cyclists is bizarre. How on earth are you going to get passed them on minor roads ? What if there are three or four cycliststs - will they be encouraged to form a line blocking the road entirely ?
I don't understand the reasoning behind it either Chris I would have thought it would make cyclists more vulnerable riding in pairs as it is more difficult for vehicles to overtake, especially with the legal gap we have to give them now, I think the biggest issue in this country is the roads are simply not wide enough but no resources are being put in place to modernise the road network, its being diverted to other Government funding probably much of it even going out of the country all together! Thanks for the comment Buddy 👍
Any changes to a highway code that has been understood by everyone in Britain for many years is a high risk thing to do, I hope nobody gets hurt, because this is just going to cause confusion for everyone on the roads in the UK. 👍
Sorry but you appear to have watched Not The Nine O'Clock News "I Like Trucking" song to many times and treat the song as a truckers buybull. The highway has to be shared, pedestrian's, cyclists, cars and trucks. It doesn't matter to me if the cyclists are in the middle of the lane, I always move to the right lane to overtake, don't you? Or do you just move over to overtake with just a hair clearance. Don't get me wrong, I am not a cyclist, but I treat everyone with the same respect, whether they are pedestrian, cyclist, car or truck user.
@@BritishTrucking this was my first time I watched your videos, the usual UA-cam algorithms I'm afraid. I guess it was the way you were presenting it that gave me the impression that you hated pedestrians and cyclists, I apologize to you if that wasn't the case.
Been in London as normal this week I have chacged couple of things giving cyclists motd room where possible not always the easiest in London but I always stay back as most of roads never big enough to pass where I deliver to I gave way to pedestrians at a junction as was turning left and as always the angry car driver decided to horn me and then over took me in 20 mph road and swerve in front of me waving his hands at me and trying to intimidate me by slowing right down in front of me and braking hard never a policemen round when these situations occur 😭😭😭
@@BritishTrucking very true mate all our trucks have state of the art 5G cameras on was told they can read a house number while your driving past it not sure how true that is but Dhl always get the best of best they ain’t shy on throwing a few quid into their trucks 👍🏽👍🏽👍🏽
more penalise the truckers the easy target every time / cyclists weaving all over the place as they cross the junction / when are cyclists going to carry clear number plates so they can be traced ??Blame the truck first last and always this country is getting worse / The minister for transport has time to pla y with the highway code but not time to sort them out !! / we pay the highest road tax fuel duty tax on Insurance and spare parts cos the roads are in such a poor state .. ?this isBS of the first order
Total madness, Cyclists don't even have to take a cycling proficiency test or any sort of test to ride on the roads safely, they don't pay insurance or road tax, and yet because of climate change bollocks they get treated like royalty!
I had one of the stupid morons grab hold of the side of my recovery truck for a tow then when he lost control he tried to make out to the old bill Id cut him up fortunately for me I have a camera on the back of my cab pointing at the bed to record the vehicle that has been recovered on its jouney back to my garage so mr cyclist was told to ram it by me and the old bill
I have to agree, I think it is going to cause a lot of confusion, and if pedestrians think they have the right of way they could become complacent which will lead to injuries or worse!
What sort of idiot thought it was a good idea to give cyclists priority at the lights they don't even stop at and encourage them to ride in the middle of the lane 🤬
@@BritishTrucking According to the RAC the Highway Code itself is not a legal document and the majority of it is just advice and guidance, except things like road signs, speed limits etc
Yes, that is true, but the problem is if it's in the highway code then people will follow them guidelines, they will be taught it on driving tests, and once cyclists know what they can get away with and pedestrians it's going to be a right mess! 👍
@@BritishTrucking Nobody has ever been prosecuted for not abiding by the Highway Code, if they are prosecuted by the Police or CPS they are done so under the Road Traffic Act I believe. Once these Muppets on their stupid little bikes begin playing by the rules themselves, stopping at red lights, riding the correct way along one way streets, not riding on pavements etc then I shall happily play along with it. Until then they are fair game

Lots of traffic hold ups, late deliveries and there will be deaths. Not very well thought out.
I have to agree, especially the pedestrian part, how many rear end shunts is that going to cause!
@@BritishTrucking Exactly, glad I'm out of it.
The changes apply to the GB highway code not the Northern Ireland highway code, there are two UK highway codes not one.
Poorly thought out amendments, but the dashcam is a must. Thanks for the video, mate.

Thanks for letting everyone know , but had to Google the start date of the rule change which is today the 29th January 2022
Good point John, I will put it in the description now 👍
Just looked now John I had already put it in the description, but you are right I should have mentioned it in the video, Thanks Buddy 👍
They must have been drunk when they wrote these new rules!!! Total insanity. They contradict previous rules that were there for good reason.
I totally agree, probably some jobsworth trying to justify their job!
