From one infidel to another thank you. I did change the transom I cut the welds and riveted some hinges on instead so it automatically hinges up when it hits something .good luck tight lines
I just got the pelican covert 120...took it out and slayed some largemouth..the next day...first ever on kayak...love...can't wait to do some mods...thanks for vid...I like that you make a lot of the stuff yourself...saves dough...
That’s some nice mods, I’m about to buy one from Costco, my Old Town Canoe is getting too much to handle. I’m a retired welder mid 60’s and that motor mount looks great, as for it raising up and down maybe a 12v actuator might work.
I'm really glad I watched this video. I work as a welder in aluminum, and was thinking I'd do the same thing, clamp it to the tube, but I love your idea of putting it through the tube. The kayak I'm looking at comes with a rudder system, so I'll have to also account for the rudder being in the way.
Thanks for the video. That's the best one I've seen yet for mounting a trolling motor to the rear of the catch 120. You did a great job and help me a bunch.
Man that looks great. You really put some thought into your setup. I just bought a Pelican Catch 110HD, and I’ve just started to modify it. I really wish mine had the deck design that yours dose. I’m really missing having a front hatch. I have no idea why some people look down on Pelican kayaks. You can’t beat them really, and they have the best deck layout design of any kayak I think.
I'm looking at this kayak for my fishing/hunting rig. I have thought about using the scupper hole directly in front of the seat to put the trolling motor through then you just need to mount the head on backwards to run the controls. I would think you could put a stopper for on the way up and down for depth.
I would be concerned of the integrity of the hull scupper is a half inch in diameter trolling motor shaft is 15/16 s in diameter. Not to mention if you get hung up on something you can't get to it .I was thinking about the same thing at first
I took 1/2 inch pvc pipe , 90's and some pieces of pool noodles , made a rectangle the size of the battery...have the same kayak and a 101 amp battery.
I love the whole (use what you got around the shop) to get the job done. :-)
Great modes! I love your reuse of items in making your changes!
I absolutely love the brilliant idea of remote mounting the control head of the trolling motor and your steering cable setup. Brilliant! Thank you.

The jumper cable clamp is genius, stealing the idea good sir

If it already has a rudder you don't have to worry about making the trolling motor pivot just just extend the rudder beyond the motor

Thanks a lot I made so changes since I'll post tomorrow

vry nice, hard to decide on which one to buy but the Catch seems to have a nicer seat for sure. Thanks for ideas.
Wow nice set up, that motor setup is great.
Thanks I made some changes when I get a chance I'll make a video and post
Good idea on using the shift cable for steering. I was looking into a way without using a pole running all the way back.

Good job on matching the hull color on your aluminum transom!
Amazing
Love your ideas!
Thank you
Brilliant! Nicely done!
Thank you I know it's not flashy but I did it on the cheap. I did some modifications on it I will post them when I get the chance
Great job!
Thanks

How did you attach the azek? Did you just use screws? If so, what size and type?
I put a bunch of silicone behind the azeck and used stainless steel #6screws
Remove the gunnels and install a hinge. No need for that much bracing. If you hit a stump or ground it will just hinge up.
I did that a month later and I hooked the bike cable to it so I can hing it up when I want
Nice work
Thanks the best thing is most of the stuff I used was in my basement didn't buy to much
Nice work, inspired me to decide on mods for my 120. what did you end up doing to secure your battery?
It's in one of my videos it's really crude but works well
👍👍
Did you hafto register with your state
In my state any boat with a motor needs to be registered but I didn't
