This was such a fun reaction, thank you all who pushed for it!! Awesome to dive into this track!! Cheers all, what’s next?! 🙌🏻🔥
If you want more from The Zombies, you should listen to Care of Cell 44.
The Zombies were just a one hit wonder ..band__ but timeless classic none-the-less.
I think you need to get into the Little River band a lot of people have been suggesting them. Reminiscing or Lady"🔥🔥 you're going to love their voices🎤🎤🎤😋🔥
Next...."Tell Her No" and "She's Not There" from 1964.
Wasn’t only Love that was running high in The Time of the Season... 🥴 💊
MOAR KINKS!!!
She’s Not There is also great.
awesome choice. has special meaning for me
Santana's cover is awesome, too!
That and "Tell Her No" were their other big hits here on this side of the pond, but the entire _Odessey and Oracle_ [sic] is worth checking out.
@@janjoslyn4593 yes. From the Moonflower album. That track -- and the first 3 tracks in sequence (Dawn/Go Within, Carnaval, Let the Children Play) -- are essential listening for the A&A freedom shacksters.
Absolutely.
You may want to check out “She’s Not There” and “Tell Her No”
excellent choices
@@TheCybertiger9 I think I remember hearing on the radio year ago that they say "no" 75 times or something lol.
And Rod Argent went on to solo on Hold Your High. And Santana's Cover of She's not There is epic.
Came here to say the same! Great tunes!
Both of those songs are OK, but they're very soft 60's pop rock, in the mold of the Beatles, the DC5, Freddie & the Dreamers, etc. But Time if the Season is a unique offering from this band and from this era. Very much ahead of its time and pretty much any other time!
One of the saddest days ever was when rock n roll and organs parted ways. So many songs in the 60's and early70's had great organ music.
ua-cam.com/video/9oz97XyQmSE/v-deo.html
Three Dog Night was another perfect example of this.
When I was 10yo I asked for a little Magnus organ for Christmas. I got it and loved playing it, it gave me such a love and appreciation for the organ. That was Xmas of 1971, my 11 BD. I've been getting back into playing organ, a more advanced model BTW, and Loving It!
Random but I said this but the autoharp and country music like yesterday
I am 64 years old and this is perhaps my favourite song of all time. I took my son to see the Zombies live about 12 years ago and when the lead singer Colin Blunstone came on stage he gave me a sideways (as if to say, what the hell are you taking me to) look as Mr. Blunstone was a very old looking dude. However, he was blown away by the concert and I have seen them again since where they performed the entire album Odessey and Oracle (including Time of the Season) from beginning to end in album order. Congratulations to you young dudes for recognizing amazing music for what it is!
I always say this is a time warp song ...Transports me immediately back to another place in time.
@@kattcity I couldn't agree more. That is why they use songs like these in movies set back in late 60s to early 70s. Perfect for establishing the setting for the a movie set in that time.
Classic (at least for a 19 year old like me) .
Music is a beautiful thing.
@@MNWildFan57 It absolutely is:)
I am 63 yo and I have a bumper sticker on my truck that is a comment on modern music that I believe. It says "Its not because I'm old its because your music really does suck"
Odessey and Oracle is a top 10 album of the 60s for me.
It came at the tail end of the 'hippie" era, and the harmonizing of that era reached its pinnacle on that album.
Ten Years After - I’d Love To Change The World
Excellent song.
They'd better...or else!
Yes, god yes
I'll leave it up yo you...guys.
Been asking for it every week!
Donovan.... Season of the Witch, Sunshine Superman, Mellow Yellow, Hurdy Gurdy Man, Wear Your Love Like Heaven, Barabajagal, Atlantis and numerous others....
All very cool tunes.
What I'd LOVE to see them do is "Billion Dollar Babies" by Alice Cooper. Alice shares lead vocals with Donavan, and it works so freakin' good!
Yes to all the Donovan songs mentioned. He seems to be overlooked by everyone. Atlantis and Hurdy Gurdy Man are my favorites. I think I was around nine years old when I first heard them and still love them fifty something years later. Also agree with the Billion Dollar Babies suggestion, another favorite song.
Barabajagal, featuring the Jeff Beck Group.
@@Drummingvulture I saw him in concert twice- 1968 and 2008! Amazing. I love him.
Definitely overlooked, phenomenal artist!
The Animals: We Gotta Get Out Of This Place.
Imagine how amazing it was hearing it back in the day during the British Invasion where we Americans were having our minds blown. The Beatles and then bands like this! It was simply fab.
Totally
I did from the back seat as a kid. I would carry this art on stage in the 1980s into the alt music age.
If you liked this you should definitely check out She's Not There, then maybe something like:
The Guess Who - American Woman, No Sugar Tonight
Ten Years After - I'd Love to Change to the World
How long can Andy & Alex go without doing The Guess Who? Asking for Canadians!
The Guess Who! The Guess Who! The Guess Who! The Guess Who! The Guess Who!
The Guess Who
- No Sugar Tonight/New Mother Nature
- Undun
- These Eyes
- Share the Land
- American Woman
And staying with The Guess Who, you also can't go wrong with
- Laughing
- No Time
- Shakin' All Over
- Albert Flasher
Wait till they try some Donovan! Maybe start with Season of the Witch.
I don't think they're ready for Atlantis. It seems strange how much radio play it got back in the day for kind of an odd song, but I did love it whenever it was on.
It’s songs like this that immediately transport you back in time to the late 60s.
Argent: Hold Your Head Up. Rod Argent was this keyboardist.
Long version
Argent, great band, especially their last 3-4 lps. If you love proggy jazz/rock fusion, check them out. You won't be disappointed.
They did this song on the Halloween livestream.
Check it out!
@@mischiefmanaged444 can't find it.

It's a long livestream...but it's in there. They even list it in the show notes.
THE SUMMER OF LOVE . THE BEGINNING OF THE FLOWER CHILDREN GENERATION. LOOOOVE IT❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍
Why is it so thrilling to watch someone enjoy this for the first time?! 😆
It's surreal for me. Sooooo familiar to us and so foreign for them.
Warms your heart doesn’t it? My kids are their same age and were brought up listening to classic rock and dig the same stuff. ✌🏻🧡
Because we are saddened at the junk produced today which is all the youngsters have, then gladdened when they discover the joys of great music and they are obviously thrilled and delighted.
That is exactly why I like reactions. This is the music I grew up with, seeing someone experience it for the first time is so enjoyable
Brings back memories for when I heard these as new songs. So much to listen to.
Summer in the City by The Lovin' Spoonful.
Yeeeeeeesssssss
Brilliant suggestion!
Yaaaassssss
I forgot how great / creative this song is .......... this production has never been recreated.... the feel of this song absurdly unique..
One of the coolest songs ever written and performed. Truely embodies the times it was written in. Do shes not there also.
Absolutely
"She's Not There"
"What's your name? Who's your daddy? Is he rich like me?" One of my favorite lyrics ever. Great reaction gents!!!
I'd like to suggest "Crystal Blue Persuasion" by Tommy James & The Shondells
I'm adding another vote for "She's Not There." The Zombies were just so cool.
You want the funk, check out Rare Earth. I Just Want to Celebrate, Get Ready, Hey Big Brother, I’m Losing You. Great singing drummer which is always a crowd pleaser.
YES! Rare Earth was mighty fine!
Most excellent choices
🎶🤙
That’s exactly what I was going to suggest. Now I’ve got to listen to some.
I just heard Rare Earth on the radio the other day and thought the same thing.
Rare Earth. What geat memories!
The late 60's was incredibly creative and unique time - glad I was there to experience it as it happened. Also worth checking out: "She's Not There" by Zombies, "Incense and Peppermints" by Strawberry Alarm Clock", "The Rain, The Park, and other Things" by Cowsills.
The 60's we're so amazing, so diverse and so groundbreaking. Great time to be a kid. I was 10-19 in the 60's and I loved every bit of the music from original rock to Motown, to British invasion, to psychedelic and acid rock. Wow
Blood Sweat and Tears - Spinning Wheel... late 60's I think but jazzier
Go Down Gambling
40,000 Headmen
Lucretia Mac Evil
So many more. Chicago was rock/jazz BST was jazz/rock.
Next should be “She’s Not There,” which would make a great segue into The Guess Who and their song “Undun.”
Undun - Cummins voice on that is one of the best vocals ever.
@@murraywestenskow2896 I agree, his vocals are absolutely brilliant!
Absolutely - one of their best :-)
Oh, Allison! TY for mentioning Undun. One of my absolute faves. It’s so cool and so passionate at the same time!
@@greggary7217 it’s just about flawless.
I was in 7th grade when this song came out -- and it still makes me smile and bop as soon as I hear the first two notes!
The Zombies were one of the top three bands that came out of the British invasion in the 1960`s. A lot of the bands then were mediocre players and one hit wonders where The Zombies were the real thing. Rod Argent`s keyboard playing is amoung some of the best from that time. "She`s Not There" and "Tell Her No" are really amazing tunes from the early 60`s.
They still sound like this too. Rod Argent is a keyboard master and the band Argent Hold Your Head Up is his. They have put out new music that hit Billboard charts at ages near 70. Saw them live...I got chills.
@@ianmc8671 Saw him perform this live when I saw them a couple of years ago. It's amazing!
Thanks for the heads up :) learning keyboard and immediately found a short tutorial by him.
Argent !. damn i forgot all about them and yes "Hold Your Head Up" Talk about a keyboard solo.
@@ianmc8671 They did Hold Your Head Up in the last deep cut live stream!
Got to see the Zombies about 5 years ago and what a great show it was! Rod and Colin were fantastic and they had Jim Rodford from Argent on bass, maybe the last tour he did before he passed away.
S-Tier agreed. Still sounds great 50 years later. Rod Argent on keyboards
Cool did not know that
✓Explains a lot and Argent's Hold Your Head Up is a classic banger.
Rod still sounds great today (Colin too). I went to see them live a few years ago. They put on a great show. Look up some recent live footage here on UA-cam to see what I mean.
"Tell Her No" is my personal favorite Zombies tune.
Of Colin Blunstone the Singer and Rod Argent carved out their own careers and the Zombies are still touring.
And that's what radio was like back then. Now it's like squeaky doors in hell with screams of torture!
You forgot to say it was AM radio.
🤣🤣🤣 TRUTH!
What's even worse is that they have to AutoTune the shit out of everything to make it sound even as good as the squeaky doors in hell.
Now listen to She’s Not There.
Try Tell her no
Yes!
Yes, She's Not There and Tell Her No...
Yes! "She's not there" is so good
I can't imagine what it's like for your age group to come across this treasure trove that my generation grew up with.
"99 Tears" by Question Mark and the Mysterians - check it out!!!!
96 tears
She's not there, another great song from The Zombies.
Have to give major credit to Colin Blunstone. What a unique voice, perfect with this great band. I remember first being blown away by them at 60s dances.
@bill waters he still sounds amazing, too. I was blown away watching their performances from their induction into the R&R Hall of Fame just last year.
Why this doesn't have a Million views is beyond me.
I was 10 and feeling groovy when this came out. The 60s was a great decade to grow up in. We felt separate from our parents generation. Our values were different than theirs. Our music was our own.
"She's Not there" and "Tell Her No" are essential for reactions.
Got to do “She’s not there”.
"Time Has Come Today"- The Chambers Brothers
Definite Banger of the first order.
Full length album version..
Yeeeeeeeeessssss
YES!!!!
The lead singer is Colin Blunstone, try his 'Say You Don't Mind'. I met a few years ago backstage at a Yardbirds/ Zombies gig. He borrowed my knife to open his beer bottle, and I told him I'd always loved his voice. Jimmy Page came in later to chat with is old band mates!
The 60's was really a lot of fun! And it's great how much you can enjoy the music without any chemical enhancement!
S Tier is perfect for this timeless classic.
Great song!!!! “She’s Not There” is another banger by them you should check out!
Cheers from Ontario
Acid sweeps the country late '67 early '68-- the music from that short period is amazing and this is right up there with the best of 'em. Great reaction gentlemen
This song has the fewest imperfections I have ever heard. I am glad you got to hear it.
Incense and Peppermints. Another quintessential sixties song.
For sure. And Pictures of Matchsick Men by Status Quo
Oh yes we're deep into the psychedelic era of the late 60's with these 2 songs. 2 more of my favorites Pushin' Too Hard by the Seeds and I Had Too much Too Dream Last Night by The Electric Prunes. I think songs from that era are an acquired taste
Valley of the Dolls featured Strawberry Alarm Clock with Ed King of Lynyrd Skynyrd.
With Ed King on guitar. Later of Lynyrd Skynyrd and writer of the Sweet Home Alabama riff.
Yes, and let's not forget the great hit "96 tears".
How about Eric Burdon & War ...Spill the wine? Great song very unique unlike any you've heard so far!
Timeless, I’m 69 years old, this song was popular when I was 17, timeless for sure.
I may be a 60’s 70’s boomer (I’m oooold!) but will always say we grew up with the best music EVER!
One of the coolest songs ever and awesome reaction guys. She's Not There is another great Zombies song you should check out.
I looked up Groovy in the dictionary. This song was listed there. I would suggest Crystal Blue Persuasion by TOMMY JAMES and Groovin' by THE RASCALS. (aka The Young Rascals) in case you haven't done them yet. Same era as this.
Don’t forget The Shondells-it was Tommy James & The Shondells. Other songs are “Mony Mony” “Crimson & Clover” “Hanky Panky”
I’m still burnt out on those songs☺️
Crystal Blue Persuasion is the BOMB! And Groovin'!
@@Mona.555 Love Crimson and Clover!
@@Mona.555 I just didn't feel like typing all of that out. 😉
@@zq9m3xh8 I hear ya, I’m the same way sometimes.
This song is basically a cultural marker for the year 1969 or 70. They like to use this or Tears of a Clown to mark that time period in tv and film. This came out in 1967 and hit in 1969.
You got it! It is a masterpiece defining the beginning of flower power sound. If you want other songs like this, you have to do The Byrds Eight miles high, The Turtles Happy Together, The Yardbirds A heart full of soul. Or by the Zombies : Summertime and She's not there at least among other great stuff.
Welcome to psychedelic rock, well it sounds like this, just because they could. :)
Great reaction. Thanks for sharing.
Chris
Grreat song. Check out The Guess Who from 60's, 70's. No Sugar tonight/ New Mother Nature.
Could not agree more.
I can't remember hearing this song for the first time but I wish I could go back to that day. Imagine the young women of the era dancing to this.
Another 60's song that is in a similar vein as this and other Zombies tunes was by a group called Marmalade. The song was called 'Reflections of My Life'
Agreed, amazing guitar work on Reflections....
The Zombies are an underrated band. Next up by them, listen to; “She’s Not There” “I Love You” and “Tell Her No”
A&A, you need to go back to their first 2 hits "She's Not There" and "Tell Her No". Bangers!!
What album is Tell Her No on? I've only just got into the Zombies but have only listened to their first two releases.
@@ealing456 it was released as a single in 1964, before their first studio album
@@surlechapeau thanks! I'll look for a compilation album it's on then
One of the coolest songs. Right there with Come Together (Beatles) and Fame (David Bowie)
Everybody's Talkin' - Harry Nilsson
Just What I Needed - The Cars
Crystal Blue Persuasion - Tommy James and the Shondells
Everyone’s saying “She’s not there” yep I agree.
Great song, although I think I prefer 'She's Not There' which also has an amazing rhythm to it.
Especially the mono version, since half of the drums were recorded straight to the final mix, and aren't in the stereo version.
Heard any Leon Russell? No? “Tight Rope” is a great introduction
If you like this you’ll like David Essex “Rock On”.
Timeless mid 60s Classic!! 🎧This keyboards are so 🎹🎹Evocative. This is a good rainy day driving song 🎼🎼🎶
Every time I see your comments I can't help but want to give 2 likes, one for your comment, the other because you're so cute. Sorry if this is politically incorrect... I can delete if it offends :-)
Check out “She’s not there” by Zombies
Eighth grade mechanical drawing class. Yes, our teacher used to play the radio while we measured and drew tools and stuff.
Rod Argent emotes such a vibe and soulfulness through his finger tips...like no other, What a masterpiece.
This is one of the sexiest songs ever and idc what anyone says 😂😂
sounds like daddy is lucky
I'm chiming in with another Zombies song - She's Not There.
This is a killer album. For my money, it's the best British pop/rock album of the 1960s.
Guys, the Zombies lead vocalist is Colin Blunstone. During his solo career he sang many songs for the Alan Parsons Project (The Eagle Will Rise Again, Old and Wise, Dancing on a Highwire, Somebody Out There, Ignorance is Bliss).
Saw The Zombies in 2008. Still knocking it out of the park. Loved them in 1964. And still love them in 2020.
Rod Argent on keys. He went on to found the band Argent, with a hit in "Hold your head up."
I'm 70 years old but I was a very young girl when this came out and it's just as great as it today as it was then
The "who's your daddy" line is why the best stuff is written and done when bands are young. That's some shit I would've said in my 20's lol
Echo all who suggested "I'd love to change the world"byTen Years After .
I've requested it too a while back.
They finally got inducted into the R&R hall of fame in 2019. The hall is kind of a joke but they deserved to be there. Their 3 performances are on here from that show.
This music was in the middle of Vietnam. Biggest pop culture change ever. Music was never the same! Life was never the same.
I remember how much I liked the cover version of this song beat boxer Blake Lewis did on one of the earlier seasons of American Idol. Great choice for him.
This is one of the most underrated albums of the rock era. Every song is genius.
It's not underrated..........just underappreciated. Too many people out there haven't heard it. Those that have, know.....
Agreed!
This song probably doubled in popularity for the younger generation when it was featured in an episode of 'Friends' in 1994
the Keyboardist Rod Argent wrote this song. He went on to fame with Argent. He wrote "Hold your head up. This had the #1 rated Keyboard solo of all time.
I had a similar reaction to this song when I first heard it 55 years ago. It's fun to be able to relive that response through you two musical sharp-shooters.
She’s not there and Tell her no are really good ones too 💜
First thought, "Not my favorite, should have been something better." Listening to it, "Much better than I remembered!"
The ultimate hippie 60s song. What a cool vibe.
I graduated in the 70s but I feel like I’m hearing these songs for the first time. Magic.
The Zombies begat Argent (Hold Your Head Up)
Hell yes- definitely S. This is one, like The Letter from The Boxtops, absolutely timeless.
I mean the songwriting and harmonies are amazing but the drummer is extra special. To have the discipline to maintain that crazy rhythm and all the ride cymbal stabs and whatnot, even for just four minutes...? Hella cool.
The song "In The Summertime" is like that. One of the instruments is the jug. I love that.
"A Rose for Emily" is also great
Anybody ever wonder if the Emily that got the rose (or not) is the same Emily we saw play?
@@i.marchand4655 good one! (and semi obscure!) lol
@@i.marchand4655 No, it's based on a really twisted William Faulkner short story.
@@seed_drill7135 I know, I just made myself laugh when I thought of it, and I wanted to share.
You guys should check out the Byrds' "Eight Miles High", it's one of the definitive psychedelic rock records. Mind-twisting 12-string guitar solo.
Absolutely.
And follow it with "I Can See For Miles" by The Who
Yes. Featuring young David Crosby. Be still my heart
I've heard at least a dozen different covers of that song, and they all killed, too. Seriously, no one can mess that song up. Husker Du did my fave version, but Roxy Music's version is...they actually made it sexy. 😮
The Byrds are one of the few great bands they haven't hit yet
This song has always been on the oldies radio stations all over the country for 50 years. How can they not have heard it
