Could not agree more. You do you and just ignore the naysayers. Those trees you cut down today were nice and big and that chicken trick was very clever. X
When you said you were taking Mrs. FLR 'out to supper', I heard 'Out to SUFFER'. I just about lost the breakfast in my mouth. Congratulation on the years (many to some few to others), you have had together so far.
Brilliant, person who knew your chickens would remove the beggar's lice!! 👍🌟 Thanks, Wes, for another great video!! You're very good at operating the machines you use!! 👍God bless you and your family! 🙏❤️🙏
We are priveleged to watch your videos and in what and how you wish to do your job. You do what is best for you and do not worry about the rest of us. Thank you very much.
really enjoyed the video. hey Wes, you´re the "runner" or cutter of the mill, and you know what works best for you. As Burger King says "Have it your way". thanks for all the different things you show and explain during the filming. Have a great day
Everyone has a right to an opinion. That said, it is your logs and your sawmill, you have the right to cut a log the way that you want. I think that you are sawing with a purpose or a market for the boards that you intend to put up for market. Keep up the good work and never allow someone else's opinion dictate your sawing business unless that person is a customer.
Like your videos. I'm subscribed and look forward to seeing your next video. Appreciate your expression of Faith. Blessings to you and your family. Praying for your safety, strength, health, wisdom, peace and success in His Holy Name.☝️🙏🙌💪🤠🎯
Wow, that’s amazing. I did not know that but I’m gonna remember that for future reference when I get covered in them I am going to lay them somewhere, let my chickens eat them.
Good video and job. Happy 8 th yes we missed the little guy. There people out that have never sawed that leave nasty comments. Saw like you want take care be safe and well.
While your chickens are 'cleaning' your clothing, I would suggest bringing a book for about a half hour. Two birds with one stone, Work and a little entertainment!!!
Hello Wes. You see, sometimes doing math on camera can be a good thing. If you are near a Walmart Supercenter, they carry a 67" ONN tripod for $24.98. I have one and I like it so far. Happy Anniversary. Have good days!
As you were saying, one cut, flip the log 180 degrees and make your second cut. Anything I have heard, that is the proper method. A carpenter's square to make a 90 degree cut.
Only thing I see that you could do to get more lumber is to raise the small ends with a toe board jack, that first log you could’ve got a couple of 1x’s if you had raised it 2”. Might need an edger to capture all the lumber in those thick slabs.
Mike, it seems like you could make the logging part of your life easier by taking a page out of Mike Morgan's book (Outdoors with the Morgans). When you fell the tree and have it mostly limbed, lift it with the grapple to finish limbing and to buck it.
what camera do you use, I use a canon g10 for my UA-cam channel and its videos isn't really clear. what camera do you use I've always loved how clear your videos are!
I'm sure you have had this experience already, but a lot of people on Marketplace want to trade something for what you have. For a long time I wasn't interested, but I started doing it and ended up getting things that I did need. Just have a mental list of things that you're looking for
why true 2x6s? always curious of that. I still cut my lumber to standard lumber size 1.5x5.5. I dont plane them mind you, unless thats the reason? with smaller lumber, u can potentially get more out of a log and still use hardware such as joist hangers bought from the store
I'm using dish detergent and water here. These logs are not so bad because they are not big logs, and I really pour the water and soap mix to it, so not so bad. On particularly gummy logs, I'll run a little diesel over the blade every now and then to clean the blade. Some sawyers use diesel all the time. Works great but I worry about the aerosolized diesel.
I have fell many trees through out my life almost always when I watch someone else cut a tree I see them cut a huge wedge to clear for first cut I have never done it this way my first cut for the wedge is only about an 1 1/2" wedge I mean if you think about it once the tree closes the gap 1 1/2" the top of the tree has moved in the felling direction 20 feet I just always wondered why everyone cuts such thick wedges 😮when dropping trees especially for logs seems like a waste to straighten and square the butt flair
Hey Mr. Green Jeans. I noticed that there is one of the little piggies in the pen with Sue. She is no longer alone in her pen?? Is that the mating piggy you are keeping for the future with her? Happy Anniversary to you and the Missus.
When you stacked you did not leave an air gap between each board. Isn't that the way it should be done? Also, why cut 2x6 and not 1.5 x 5.5 for more yield? I would argue each are more than good enough for support so why use more wood?
I'm thinking about trying to sell them by the grapple scoop. Other than that, I've got a couple of friends interested in them for various reasons, so they'll get a bunch for free.
FLR...your trees, your saw, your decisions...let the keyboard warriors do what they do ...just keep on doing your thing....👍👍👍😎
Your Correct. He is not doing it to make money, Corporations have to get every penny they can.
All my 2x4’s come from Russia. Beatiful boards

Now I can say, I've seen it all. The chickens cleaning the begger-lives takes the cake. I've never seen that before. Great video buddy.
Thanks! I was really surprised at how well that worked.

That Echo saw is a beast!
It has been a great saw!
Happy Anniversary 😊.
Happy Anniversary to you and your wife. May our good Lord bless your years to come 😃
Those 1x2 waste cuts can make good sticker boards for your stacks of lumber.
Happy Anniversary to you and your wife
God bless

Killing it! Dropping trees and smoking bees...

First time on your channel. Great video. Curious what type of pines those are?

Do you watch Arms Family Homestead? He does food plots for deer and some property cleanup with different implements.
Busy busy, hope you get a break once in a while. The blogs are going from amateur to more professional to artsy, nice!
Thanks!
what camera do you use, I use a canon g10 for my UA-cam channel and its videos isn't really clear. what camera do you use I've always loved how clear your videos are!
This one was filmed with a Canon M50. I usually use a GoPro 8, but it's out of commission right now. Thanks for the compliment and for watching!
You can buy sawmill leveling wedges at Lowe’s and other places?
Dang CrossFit pigs flippin tires
😂
That big bag of corn you got a good deal on is being eaten by those pigs at an alarming rate. Is the corn going at faster rate than you anticipated?

How many people automatically hit the like button before watching the video?
Nice! Thanks!
I do that with all the people that I've chosen to subscribe to! As soon as the video starts I navigate to the 👍.
you need to make a ibc tote feeder. Farm builder has plans. a few other have that feeder and they just love them
Why not suggest in a way that you are not telling someone what to do?
why true 2x6s? always curious of that. I still cut my lumber to standard lumber size 1.5x5.5. I dont plane them mind you, unless thats the reason? with smaller lumber, u can potentially get more out of a log and still use hardware such as joist hangers bought from the store
Yeah I'm starting to rethink my approach. The 2x4s have been selling quite slowly.
I don't have a sawmill but I've heard people say pine really gums up the blade. Just curious what you use for lubricant? Thanks
Cat just doing it's own thing cat thing.
I have fell many trees through

I'm wondering, do you level your log when it's smaller on one end than the other? Just curious. Thanks and stay safe.
Sometimes. If it's a significant difference.
Hey Mr. Green Jeans. I noticed that there is one of the little piggies in the pen with Sue. She is no longer alone in her pen?? Is that the mating piggy you are keeping for the future with her? Happy Anniversary to you and the Missus.
Yep! That's Rooster, the boar. Hoping he does his job.
Nice pile of saw logs, Wes. Are you mineful of the pith in the logs and it's presence in your lumber? Tom Ireland
Not really. I just plow through and the boards seem to turn out fine.
Great video, do you have any problems with Wild Boar in your area?
Not here. They are around in my county, but I've never seen one on our place. Hoping it stays that way.
Happy Anniversary ,Wes. How many years?
Thanks! 8 years.
Did you cut all with just one blade? You have to be appreciating no nails in your own trees. 👍👍👍
The 5 that I cut in this video were done with one blade. Yes, I'm really enjoying all the clean trees to cut.
When you stacked you did not leave an air gap between each board. Isn't that the way it should be done? Also, why cut 2x6 and not 1.5 x 5.5 for more yield? I would argue each are more than good enough for support so why use more wood?
28:01 you can see stickers between every board. Because I like the traditional sturdy look of true lumber.
Yes i see stickers for the up and down airflow, but what about the side to side airflow?@@falllineridge
What do you do with all those, for lack of a better word, bark cut offs?
I'm thinking about trying to sell them by the grapple scoop. Other than that, I've got a couple of friends interested in them for various reasons, so they'll get a bunch for free.
Yes it is that is where I sell some woodworking at and it is crazy
😂
Lumber companies hate him for this one simple trick
😂
Baby wipes work great to get hitch hikers off fast to
What's with the bucket catching the saw dust??
Keeps sawdust out of the shed.
Why not use a toe board to level the log on it's center?
What do you do with twigs and branches left over from fallen trees?
They'll either get burned or left in a pile to rot.
We have beggars lice here too. (TN) Didn’t know they had a name.
Awesome video and i agree, your son is much better! Lol lol
Did you get finished with your house completely in your living room? I guess you did I haven’t seen you do a video I watch all your videos.
Do you replant trees after you harvest
No, the whole point of cutting down these trees is to thin the forest. Makes everything healthier.
Beggars lice = treat for the chickens = quality time with the chickens
