I checked this out at Cinegear this year and was very impressed. I can't wait to try it out in a real-world environment. I am going to try to pitch this for my next shoot. The only problem I've seen is that producers are kind of tight with the purse strings these days, and the perceived cost of this rental, as opposed to doing tracking in post is much higher.
The fact that this is a first of a kind is so strange to me. It has always seemed like a no brainer to have a sensor device connected to the camera, that records the cameras perspective, and yet this is first something that is being implemented now. I am glad that this is happening, just a bit confused as to why it hasn't happened sooner, as in way sooner.
Wow! Excellent work! Great script/concept and impecable execution. Tracking is a pain in the butt some times, kudos to ZEISS for this and choosing you to communicate it.
ZEISS is really pushing hard on helping post production with their technology! Thank you very much! And hope other brands will follow the trend! 😊 great direction Hugo! Loved the VFX Notes cameo at 0:29 😄 ... and the Green Screen transition at 1:09 😂
thats pretty cool! I DO have thoughts and concerns, as much of a tech nerd that I am and having 7 years of on set experience I can see this being a "cheap" kit rental to replace on set vfx supes and kind, which are already hard to find on set unless its a $14m+ project. im assuming the data collected by this will still need some clean up like MOCAP/PRECAP which wont be taking work away from Jr.s and mids which is good!
third world countries will always be cheaper than any device. studios will just outsource anything for tracking. and btw, i dont wanna be the one who will be looking for those reflective trackers each time the shooting is done. they will always be lost / not enough. so it seems.

Do they have cheaper bcs of lower quality or maybe cheaper software and hardware in third world country?
