    i'm seeing decks I didn't even think were possible. I thought Ancient Dragon and Blasted Oak were unplayable cards, along with the camel and boars, while all these cards didn't impact the game in the same way Pudge or a Grapple shot might it was awesome to see these cards get some time in the limelight! Thank you for the great video and I love the stacking of cards once they are played! it makes it so much easier to know what's going on!

      @ontheplayco Yes, I am, and to be honest and great example is your entangled terrain, I dismissed it at first thinking "they will just move everything around it" I didn't realize how it could lock down the board as you used it, another great example of an overlooked card made great in an awesome deck! (Takes another look at the Accursed Albatross.....hmmm)

    I like the list. Pretty similar to what I would have done, but I would likely have splashed water for Shrink and for Pudge safety, and would have maindecked Divine Healings.

    • @ontheplayco
      @ontheplayco  3 місяці тому

      Thank you! I mention it in the video that I only go to 4 mana, so with my play style, splashing water or trying to get 3 earth sites for Divine Healing wouldn't be consistent. I mull HARD to make sure I have 2 earth and 1 air in my opener. If that 4th site isn't Earth, then playing Divine Healing would throw everything off. I am thinking about adding 1 Aqueduct and 1 Lighthouse for Bury portion. It was in the deck originally but didn't make the cut because the Earth sites I play are so critical for my game plan.

    Im new to Sorcery. Have only played few games on precons. Of course i wanted to try making a deck on Curiosa. It was a Fire Air battlemage. Very much just aggro. But now i think i have to reconsider. This air earth battlemage looks awesome!

      @@KevenEbner28 Thank you SO much! Dragon Shield Ivory and Dragon Shield Lilac, both MATTE versions. However, they do not make the MATTE versions of Lilac anymore. I paid WAAYYYY too much for them because I love them so much. :) MATTE essentially just means that the front of the sleeves have the color that's on the back, where DUAL MATTE has black fronts...which I hate. :)

    Do you worry about Pudge Butcher constantly dying bc he is the only target for your oppents removal?? Would Gyre Hippogriffs be better since it at least gets to do something ??
    Why did you decide on the 4th Overpower vs the 3rd Trinket??
    Any consideration to Mirror Realm or Observatory over the 2nd copies of the towers??
    Gnome Hollows seems really conter intuitive, is it just a safe land to throw in ur back row??

    • @ontheplayco
      @ontheplayco  3 місяці тому

      Good questions!
      A. Absolutely not. Pudge is meant to do three things, in this order; 1. Slow down the opponent by making them play a minion in front of their Avatar so they don't get Pudged. 2. Bury bait which again slows them down by not playing a minion. 3. Get Pudged. With the ability to bring the opponent's Avatar to me without having to travel across the board is SO great, that Pudge not being an auto include in the deck is bad.
      B. Overpower can be tutored. Investing the 1 mana in a card that can be tutored (if I didn't draw it) for an unexpected 2 damage is huge. Having to reinvest 1 mana every turn for 1 damage is too slow and expensive. I 99.9% of the time only play 4 mana, so I need to use that mana effectively and since my deck is at it's strongest (damage wise) at 2 mana, it makes me less mana efficient. If you put 3 Trinkets in your deck, the odds of it being in your open hand are greater, which is what I absolutely don't want and if I end up mulling it (which I do almost every time it's in my opener), then I may as well only play 2 Trinkets. Trinket for me is most optimal and makes the most sense as a 2 of.
      C. I used to play both in my play testing version of this and I removed both. Mirror Realm was okay and could definitely make its way back someday but definitely not Observatory. I shuffle my deck so often that deck fixing my top 3 would be pointless in a lot of situations.
      D. It definitely is counter intuitive and in most cases I play it on my home site (Square 3 or 18) however I sometimes play it up on Square 8 or 13 to slow down my opponent. I play so many movement spells (Blink and Flank) that getting around it is easy...BUT, it definitely can be a challenge and is SAFEST in the back row. You just have to have a feel for the play lines and ensuring the opponent's Avatar doesn't tuck themselves in there. I only run 2 copies which makes it feel perfect if they end up staying in the deck but I am tinkering with another site that may replace it.
      Thank you for the questions! :)

    • @lantz4501
      @lantz4501 3 місяці тому

      Thanks for the insight! Really enjoy the deck, actually got some games in with it tonight. The only change I made was -1 Flanking Maneuver +1 Bury.
      The only thing I think I was doing wrong is going on the attack before playing 4 lands. And I often common sensed just for mana efficiency, which got me in trouble a couple of times.
      I sadly never got to pudge anything! But you are right if they are dealing with that they are not advancing their board!!

    • @ontheplayco
      @ontheplayco  3 місяці тому

      @@lantz4501 you’ve very welcome and that’s awesome! Yeah, I took 1st place with it today at an LGS. Also, the deck is not trying swing before 4 sites UNLESS you have a Core and/or Stone and even then sometimes I still wait to have 4 sites. Since I’m not playing minions, my cores/stones will become the Bury targets.

    • @ontheplayco
      @ontheplayco  3 місяці тому

      @@lantz4501 the deck originally played 2 Bury but I replaced them for Cores as the Bury is too clunky at 3 mana. With 4 sites that’s pretty much all you can play and to Common Sense AND Bury in the same turn, you have to climb to 5 sites, which I don’t like doing.

    • @lantz4501
      @lantz4501 3 місяці тому +1

      @@ontheplayco Congrats! yes I def charge in on 3 with a core my core immediately was buried and I had to take a turn off playing a land b4 I could Entangle. super awkward! How does the Avatar of Earth match up play out? I have not had a chance to test against it, but I imagine its rough. Are there any other problematic match ups I should worry about ?

    Cool walk through! How does it fair against enchantress players with the entangles?

    • @ontheplayco
      @ontheplayco  3 місяці тому

      Literally shuts down Enchantress. As long as I play my Entangle on 4 squares, when/if they animate Entangle it shuts down their other Auras that are minions. And when they animate their Auras, Entangle is basically covering all my sites. Enchantress no likey! Lol
