  • "The Cthulhu Mythos" is a system of entities, books, and locations created by H. P. Lovecraft.
    "HorrorBabble's Cthulhu Mythos" adheres to "Lovecraft: A Look Behind the Cthulhu Mythos" by Lin Carter, whose requirement for including a story was that it must "present us with a significant item of information about the background lore of the Mythos, thus contributing important information to a common body of lore."

    FAQ regarding the exclusion of "The Mound": When Carter published his book in 1972, The Mound was still to be unearthed in its entirety (the original text was finally published in 1989). This collection follows Carter's 1972 list of Cthulhu Mythos stories.
    This collection was recorded over a period of 3 years, from November 2015 through to September 2018.

      Don't feel bad. It can be challenging even for those of us who aren't dyslexic. Our language is changing and evolving, (as it always does) so much so that we are starting to stray from what this once was. It's slowly becoming a foreign language.

      @inoue6 3 роки тому +5

      I'm also dyslexic and had no problems with reading, but that might've been because I've read it in my native language, English original, though having technically the same word meaning, must have different text and word construction. I'm tempted to try and read it in English if I can find it online to see it for myself ☺️

    Hello Ian Gordon. You did an excellent job reading these Lovecraft stories for us all to enjoy. It isn't easy reading Lovecraft either silently or especially aloud. I love this namely because I can sleep to this and wake up with it still playing. I have night terrors that get BAD when I'm in a silent room so I have to have some kind of noise playing. Music is difficult due to tune and beat so audiobooks are usually my go-to, but many aren't long enough and due to being on mobil, cannot be looped.
    So yeah, I appreciate the effort that I know went into this long-AF video and absolutely love all those that did this.

(Honestly i think it was making a change in my life and finding some real stability, feels like that was it, and they do pop back up in heavy stress situations, just nearly never). Lovecraft story's are comforting with there mystic aura and descriptions. al tho i do remember one dream, where i was falling or flying towards a black hole around which shine rainbow colors and came defending yet also soft like cotton noise or voice while 1000 fingers touched my back in warmth and comfort. Mister Gordon is the only narrator that truly brings HP Lovecraft to life.. Gordon style perfectly compliments HP Lovecraft. It's a perfect marriage between story and storyteller..☺️

    I return to this whenever I have a long stretch of time to fill, (car rides, airport experiences, family dinners etc.) I'm 15 hours in. I dread finishing this more than I dread the nameless horror lying dormant beneath R'lyeh

    I'm listening through (bit by bit) - and wanted to thank you for your work. My 16 year old daughter just got into Lovecraft and she loves your recordings! As do I! She loves your recording of The Nameless City, and is listening through the whole C'thulu mythos. Its wonderful sharing this with her. My thanks for the amazing efforts and thought you put into these.

    I could never begin to start on Lovecraft's work because there's too many in not an apparent order.
    This is perfect, Sir. Much love to you. I hope the fiends that lurk in the shadows keep watch over you.

    Thank you for doing this!! I've been a Lovecraft fan but never had time to read every little thing he wrote and can listen to this while I work.

    Maybe it’s just me, but I had headphones when I listened to Henry Akeley (Whisperer in Darkness) speak, and I think there was some very cunning and subtle audio editing going on. Very well done!
    (Or I’m hearing signals from Yuggoth, of course, in which case: oh dear.)

    Thank you for putting your time into this. 22 hours of pure determination. Your voice flows like a river when you speak ans its hard to put the headphones down when you listen to it. You never cease to amaze.

    I've been listening to nosleep/creepypastas for years and it's interesting to hear stories that inspired so many of them
    I love the writing style and feel very inspired myself 😊
