When I opened a Banco Pichincha account 4 years ago, they required a cedula number. They also required copies of my passport and a voucher letter from an Ecuatoriano. I helped a friend open a Pichincha account about a year ago. We did it online ad it took about 5 minutes and it didn't require personal references or a utility bill, and it let you select if you wanted your debit card to be delivered to you our if you wanted to pick it up at the bank. I would recommend picking it up at the bank.
Hi. Another great video. Thanks! I have watched a number of Ecuador ex-pat how-to channels and I find yours to be very refreshing. Yours has a family touch, and an Ecuadorian (partial) one at that. One thing that I haven't seen (or at least doesn't come to mind easily) is seeing a related topic video called "GET YOUR CUEDULA" - with the what is it, why get one, where you'll need it, and when should you get one, relative to other needed documentation (driver's license, establishing a bank account, ordering utilities, getting an apartment/buying a house.). So,that's my suggestion, you might even interview Joseph again - or perhaps you can wing it now with your abundant practical ex-pat experience. Because, right now I'm in the dark as to when a cuedula gets created/assigned. Thanks again. Keep the great videos coming.
Thanks Jim. Great feedback. A cedula video is certainly on the cards. You mentioned potentially using our recommended visa facilitator in another comment - if you do, then they'll also sort out your cedula. It's a slightly different process once you've obtained your visa. Most important requirement for a cedula is that you have health insurance from a recognized Ecuadorian insurer. Feel free to ping me for more info on this, but here's a head-start: expatsecuador.com/health-insurance/health-insurance-complete-guide/
I found you through an upload related to crypto currencies and eventually got here. My only question is HOW TO GET A CEDULA? Very well explained and great tips about Ecuadorian mentality, seems similar to Filipinos haha. Saludos!!!! You got a like
Haha, thanks for going down the rabbit hole. A cedula is a national ID card. Most expats get theirs on the back end of their temporary residency visa application. We've outlined the most popular residency visas in this article: expatsecuador.com/visas/ecuador-visa-requirements/ Sing out if you need help.
@@expatsecuador743 Thanks for the tip I will have a look. In my case I am planning to apply for a Mercosur visa. I understand for what you said, the CEDULA can be obtained only if one has a Temporary Residence? Thanks for keeping on replying. Cheers!
Another question: how would an Ecuadorian bussines would provide you a "carta de trabajo"? Based on what? You'd have to sign them up as your client **first** for your dig. marketing agency or what?

This is great information. I hope to use what I learned just now in ecuador someday.
Thanks Brian. Hope to see you in Ecuador someday too :)

Is JEP good enough for the average tourist in Ecuador for 90-180 days a year in Cuenca or Manta? Tourists don't have cédulas.
I would like to ask you just one question please. If I have an account with Pichincha but in another country can I transfer that account to Cuenca?
