    HURRAY, a content creator who does NOT advertise and promote stuff I should buy, so they get free overpriced junk. THANK YOU for your refreshing DIY! ❤

      He’s pushing the Kove for kick backs. You’re either part of it, or too dumb to see it.

    DIY stuff that saves bucks. Not showroom quality, but it'll work on Utah rocks. Cheers, Günter/Nürnberg, Germany

    I built a skid plate for my wr250r from a similar plastic I found on e bay. It has worked really well and the fabricator in me got a big smile deep within 😁 glad you shared with us and I hope that more riders will do these fun projects.

    Awesome, similar to what I've done on my XR400.
    Just a tip, you also get flanged button head bolts, then do away with the washers for a more flush finish. Bolts and such tend to get hung up on roots and rocks etc, so may end up causing damage. I'd try get the fixings on the front more flush too, but rather bolts sticking out than towards the motor...
    All the best and hopefully more of these sorts of mods to come :)

    Aren't those front bolts going to shear off if you hit anything solid? Couldn't you recess them a bit?

    Flip those two front bolts around on the skid plate before they get ripped out.😳

    I have a old Honda nx 250 and I used the same cutting board to ct and form a chain slider for it! Great video!

    • @meder07
      @meder07 10 місяців тому

      There are lots of trails still available.
      BLM is closing some b/c of the actions of some very very special people.
      Cox has made some noise but we all know how useful that is.

    Two things you have not mentioned in owning the Kove; one the snappy/jerky throttle response from first part of the throttle and no engine oil sight glass that other owners have reported. Could you find out if a new mapping will be available and why no sight glass?

      Assuming there would be a dipstick?

    • @meder07
      @meder07 10 місяців тому +1

      Yeah, I noticed the jerky throttle also.
      New mapping is constantly being developed.
      Gary has a couple that I know of.
      Vortex is working on a unit.
      Check with your dealer.
      No sight glass maybe because its (currently) a low price production rally bike.
      You or your crew change the oil in paddock as needed.
      Measure out 1.8L, drain, fill, verify, ride.
      No need for a sight glass to add complexity or potential risk.
      It's a pro level moto that can be owned and ridden by us mere mortals.

    Great idea but the bolts sticking out will get hung up on rocks and logs. Proper hardware will resolve that issue. Going to be hard to find aftermarket products for slave labor made bikes.

    I have to say, I find it I little silly to use a diy thing that looks cheap like this to cover an actual skid plate to keep it from getting scratches. Is this somewhat common?
    But if you want to do this, at least it’s cheap. I’d definitely want to get those bolts the right length and not be sticking out like that though

      Poor factory skid plate skids no more. It's job has been replaced by a kitchen item.

    • @PeterR0035
      @PeterR0035 Рік тому +1

      It reinforces the whole bottom plate by probably +300%, it has nothing to do with 'preventing scratches'. Just look at the underside of 400hp rally cars; they have a 5-10mm alu skid plate or a similar kind of plastic to this cutting board, only much thicker. There's a reason those pro rally cars and bikes use this kind of material. I guarantee you that the standard skid plate on ALL standard bikes is NOT suitable for offroad use!

    • @BigStreams_
      @BigStreams_ Рік тому

      @@PeterR0035 rally CARS weigh a bit more than a motorcycle does. A motorcycle’s aluminum skid plate is more than enough for most off-roading. Many people swap them out for plastic ones to make the engine sounds quieter. I would imagine the kove’s carbon fiber slid plate to be plenty strong.
      In the video he also points out the scratches specifically as something he wants to prevent since it’s an expensive part
