    Tyler, very happy you are on the mend mentally and physically. Please don’t twist the forks with the bars, you need to loosen the triple clamps and bounce the front end and it will go back straight.

      So the steering damper didn’t prevent that head shake from getting out of control?
      I hope you recover quickly and heal
      I think you are just at that point in life where you start to realize that you’re not 25 any longer…
      Slow down and smell the roses 🌹

    Please consider pulling the forks and triple clamps off. Thoroughly inspect triple clamps and bearings and steering head before riding hard again. It's so easy to assume it feels right and have a critical failure after a hard crash.get well soon

    Great crash follow up, and I'm glad you're on the mend.
    I've always loved your output, and your courage for sharing the non bike stuff.
    Fork straightening. You're loosening off all the TC bolts first aren't you.
    It might be easier to pull the front wheel and just do a proper alignment. Its easy with 2 arms. One... not so much, but you have friends.

    7:54 - could've very well been from the crash, as it's the material that deforms, the bolt just acts as a "spring" to keep the parts together, of the forks twisted/misaligned it's possible things got a little crooked out of shape temporarily causing some bolts to loosen up and some to tighten up, especially if it was fairly random.

    Thanks for the update man. My slide on my Kove was similar but a little less aggressive or violent. We did go down shifting up from third aggressively at over 40mph and not realizing I was in ice and not wet gravel lol. Went down and slid on the right side and after I got off the top of the bike I flip over and slid on the left briefly. On damage was a broken rear signal and a bent up hear shield

    it's also possible that the whole upper and lower tripple clamps are not only twisted in a horizontal way. If you take them a part and put them on a flat surface you will know for sure - that was a case with one of our bikes, we had to replace the lower fork bridge - I don't belief that they over torque the screws

  • @jensenmiller6410
    @jensenmiller6410 7 місяців тому +1

    Good to see you're on the mend and the bike is mostly A-okay. You got me to say "No! Bad Tyler!" When you talked about trying to straighten the forks. Gotta give it time and get the okay before pushing yourself or you risk undoing the healing (the slowest part of any injury) and ending up setting back the 100% date again. Dr. Mom (DPT) has beaten that one into my head.
    I'd get your hands on the torque specs for the fork and see what they say. USD forks are twitchy about what the clamp bolts are set to and it can make the fork kinda sticky and seem extra stiff. Sometimes they will spec a really light torque on the lower bolts (get the bolt down and then fart on the ratchet once and that's it) and then really tighten the upper bolts more to provide the safety margin to avoid the forks shooting through the clamp and clonking you in the face when you drop off a ledge flat.

    Good to see you in better spirits today Tyler! Doesn't say much for the materials on that bike though if it got that messed up from a 40ish mph crash. My buddy's 300L Rally took a 60-70mph crash and took less damage

    • @racesla
      @racesla 7 місяців тому

      Your buddies 300L doesn't have a tall nav tower to take all that force and impact in a crash. Also no two crashes are the same, you have different impact points, different forces and torque being applied. I'd say the Kove came out quite well.

  • @mxbadboy263
    @mxbadboy263 7 місяців тому +2

    The Kove is finally starting to peak my interest so I went out to the USA importer site. The site states that it is a closed completion course only use and that it is not street legal. That's a short synopsis of its disclaimer. That means it cannot be ridden off road legaly in California or plated in most states. IMO that means it has not passed EPA regulations. That's fine but that makes it a dirt bike which is disappointing.

  • @pkuudsk9927
    @pkuudsk9927 6 місяців тому

    I am impressed. Nothing broke worse than on any other bike would in a crash like that. You planted yourself and the bike HARD on what looks like hard pack dirt. I have a collar bone that never healed right after a similar crash so you got away lucky. The fact it didnt bend the frame in half makes me think 2x about buying one myself. Thanks for the info, use light weights like soup cans 1/2 hr 4x daily to heal up,ice and heat between helps .

    Keep us updated with the bike. I've been thinking of picking one up now that I've totaled two KLX's. I ride them too hard. Plus I usually trailer the thing everywhere anyways because it doesn't have the fuel range. Its either a strictly street bike or just a worse dirtbike to me. So I need to know if this bike is up for the task. Everyone's been calling it the dirtbikers dual sport and it seems like a dream bike. But I'm going to break it and I'm going to need parts.

    Chinesium metal is selective at what is soft, and what is immortal. I took a really hard crash on steep wet rocks on my prior GPX bike. I hit the radiator with no brace, front brake cylinder, throttle tube, headlight and bar's. None of that broke to my surprise. Rode it wonky back to truck, thought bars were bent. Nope. The 1/2" bolt for oem bar clamps bent, and at a 30 degree angle too LOL.

    I'm expecting from Kove the same thing that happened to the Black Series RV's. You got about 2 years of good quality, good quality control to build up the reputation then once it's marginally well known raise the price by 20-30% and cheap out on quality control as much as you can and still put out the occasional model without defects for the reviews. They will ride the reputation of the first years as long as they can then fade into just another overpriced mediocre brand.
