  • We visit the Talyllyn railway in mid wales again to view the Blockpost at BRYNGLAS , operated by the Blockman Malcolm for our visit together with the signalling inspector Dave, we see how the railway uses flags alongside the token system to control trains between Tywyn and Abergnolwyn on one of the five control points upon the line.
Our thanks to both the Talyllyn railway and to Malcolm and Dave for their explanation of the operation and letting us visit behind the scenes.

I've been on this excellent, friendly railway years ago.
In Australia, we would typically call a location like this '(name) Loop' as it's a crossing loop.
A 'block post' would usually just have a location board but no tracks, so no ability to cross trains.

Thanks for that, there’s so many subtle differences between different countries around the world on terminology 😁

@@irseminorrailwayssection9491 Great series of videos. Keep up the excellent work as I'll soon again be in UK/Europe. I love your UK railways, including preserved lines like West Somerset.

Why did the Talyllyn not put a bilingual sign on the Brynglas Blockpost showing the Welsh as well as the English?
