In Suriname our official language is Dutch but we have a second language called Sranantongo which was the tale of the slaves. I hear so many words in Jamaican that we use here in Suriname. words as nyam , gwaan , fu tru , piki piki Words that I didnt hear in Guyana. I learned at school that when England and the Netherlands swapped New York for Suriname in 1674 a lot of the english families left Suriname for Jamaica bringing with them big amounts of slaves.
